Boris to hold 5pm press conference amid fury at China and India for torpedoing COP26: Alok Sharma warns Xi and Modi that they will have to 'justify' scheming that forced nations to accept 'watered down' deal over coal use

  • World leaders at the Cop26 climate change summit have reached a deal today
  • There is fury from EU nations due to last-minute wording changes over coal
  • The Glasgow Pact was watered down after pressure from India and China
  • Alok Sharma 'fought back tears' and said he was 'deeply sorry' for the change
  • Talks overran due to disputes over finance, fossil fuels and cutting emissions

There has also been a doubling of money for developing countries to help them to adapt to climate change. The current goal is $100bn a year, while there could be a trillion dollar a year fund from 2025.

But the agreement also noted 'with deep regret' that wealthy nations had also failed to stump up a separate annual sum of $100 billion they promised over a decade ago.

During the conference, a range of wealthy governments stepped up with new pledges - totalling about $960 million - for two key U.N.-backed funds that help vulnerable nations adapt to climate change.

Do you think it'll be possible to return to the use of horse, cow and chicken pooh, and having a big thayrhee?

In India many poor small farmers still do bull farming.

In nihang chaunnis, u will find horses, cows, buffalos, goats and qazi(chicken). I even saw a camel at a nihang gurdwara in Uttar Pradesh.

Does he manufacture solar panels? Is this in Ludhiana? Do you know that afeem farmers in Afghanistan use solar panels?

A zoomed-in satellite image shows the banks of solar panels in a farm in Helmand

Do you mean geo-thermal energy? Do we have that kind of geology in Panjab?

If we are ever going to achieve any degree of independence the energy issue is a primary one. If we start relying on outsiders, we'll get f**ked. Look at how Russia suddenly jacked up prices for gas, and threatened to cut supplies to Europe. I don't think nuclear energy is an option?

What about wind? Are wind turbines an option?

Lots of dealers of solar geysers in Ludhiana alone.

My friend was a dealer in solar panels. He said a person has to invest 3-5 lakh rupees to get 3-5 mega watts solar panel system installed and it will take around 4 years to get even. People don't want to make that initial investment.

I don't hv much knowledge about wind energy potential in punjab but it sounds a good idea too.

I'm not usually any sort of proponent of begging moves, but given that Panjab has had a bull5hit failed 'green revolution' experiment done on it, and how the place has been looted by goray historically (english specifically), I think a big chunk of these types of these funds needs to go to redeveloping the agricultural sector in an eco-friendly way out there, and reversing the contamination that's occurred from this poisonous 'green revolution'.

Farmers need to be taught about how they were screwed over and experimented on too.   Also, extra checks need to be made that the funds are used for what they are intended for, and not pocketed so that the farmers and their families can spend the money to show off in petty ways.
