http://allaboutsikhs.com/articles/art-056.htm by Dr. Kuldeep Singh To understand the ethos of the Khalsa Panth brought to a grand finale by Guru Gobind Singhji it would help us to recall and analyse the first triumph of the Khalsa in 1704. At the Vaisakhi of 1699 Guruji had sent message all over for one year that Sikhs should gather in large numbers. He introduced the “Baptismal of the Sword” (Khanda) i.e. Pahul Khandedhar. The Persian historian and scribe, Ghulam Muhiud-Din sent Aurangzeb a copy of the Guru’s sermon : “Let all embrace one creed and obliterate difference of religion. If we want to progress integrally, we must build within our conscious being a strong and pure mental synthesis which can serve us as a protection against temptations from outside, as a landmark to prevent us from going astray, as a beacon to light our way across the moving ocean of life. Each individual should build up this mental synthesis according to his own tendencies and affinities and aspirations. But if we want it to be truly living and luminous, it must be centred on the idea that is the intellectual representation symbolising That which is at the centre of our being, That which is our life and our light. This idea, expressed in sublime words, has been taught in…

Parmeshwar He who created the whole world and who looks after and cares for His creation is called Parmeshwar. Everything that is seen in the world today is the work of this Parmeshwar. If we look at worldly things, each have a creator. For example, the brains of engineers create aeroplanes, ships and canals; the handiwork of steel workers creates swords, shields, steel utensils, etc.; the toil of farmers in the field provides fruit and vegetables for us. Just as these worldly things have creators, Parmeshwar has created the whole universe. Guru Jee says: Japjee Sahib, 16th PaureeBecause Parmeshwar has the greatest power, He can create the entire universe with one com…

Vasu Bhardwaj When recitation of Gurbani cured me of deadly cancer, I experienced God. If God is with me, who can be against me? Not even the deadliest disease of cancer can take my life away and that is exactly the divinely inspiring message of the truly miraculous story of my victorious battle against bone cancer which was medically diagnosed to be multiple myloma. It was the continuous recitation of Gurbani that not only cured me of bone cancer that had already destroyed most of my bones in my skeleton, but also shattered my will to live. The blessings of Guru Granth Sahib not only triggered and accelerated the processes of complete and total cure in my body, but …
