'Be responsible, don't use a condom tonight': Jiyo Parsi's unique ad campaign encourages Parsis to marry within the community and multiply The Government of India's Jiyo Parsi is a scheme to revive the dwindling Parsi community in Mumbai. It has been recorded that only 40,000 Parsis are left in Mumbai with the birth to death ratio being 1:4. These disappointing statistics led to an innovative ad campaign that encourages Parsis to marry within the community and procreate. The campaign from Madison Advertising asks young men to 'break up' with their mothers, and asks them to get married and have children quickly, 'because your parents won't be around forever to babysit.' …

Should we be celebrating the new year after the saheedian of the shahibizade, or is this just typical of us in this day and age and do we have short memories. Some will let of fireworks maybe even in some Gurdwaras, also would the sikhs of that time (during / after the saheedian) celebrated a new year straight after ? (which does not fall at the same time in indian calendar). Personally it should be time of sitting in the presence of SGGS ji, reflecting on the past, thanking Guru ji asking for peace in the world in a quite and dignified but not sombre manner, listening to katha and kirtan, but no fireworks or frantically shaking hands, hugging and patting on the back at…

Vaheguru ji ka khalsa, vaheguru ji ki fateh Sangat ji , I just wanted to get everyone's views on this subject. I recently watched a few video's on youtube at the time of her death the uk news were reporting outside a gurdwara and some women are doing gidah and somewhere else on another video a singh is drinking what looks like wine to celebrate. (I will try find links and post them later). It just made me think while people were dancing about celebrating in uk and possibly other foreign countries, at the same time in delhi and other parts of india sikhs were getting massacred, tortured, raped and burnt. Some sikhs now still celebrate these days as a victory including …

We often hear about how we as Asians non-Sikhs feel sorry for the ingenious white people indigenous Sikhs of the UK east Punjab due to the perceived take over there by ethnic minorities non-Sikhs Ie Britian east Punjab, in certain areas have become a white Sikh minority population areas like Doaba. ie before the last 50 years whites Sikhs were the clear majority in the UK then newly created smaller east Punjab. But now they are becoming the minority in their own tiny homeland. (Shock horror) But should we feel sorry for our pale skinned long haired friends? After all it was these peoples Sikhs who did no parchar about the truth of Sikhi. They ne…

Hello everyone I am a lil confused on what to do! my problem is that i have liked someone for a very long time and i know we are suppose to stick to arranged marriages for various reasons, but dont you think i will be cheating my partner if my heart is elsewhere! I recently heard of a gursikh husband and wife from the UK that have spilt up because the wife had strong feelings for her previous boyfriend! she would not stop keeping in contact with him way into her marriage and their relationship paid the price, taking this into consideration dont you think it would have been best for her to marry the first guy! and not waste time with this new guy! I would never want to …

so, i'm in year 12, uk. my parents are like sort-of connected with sikhism, but not much. they still eat meat and modify the hair, and while i try not too. my parents forces me to like remove the hairs and eat the meat and i try not to but i most of the time don't win and i feel guilty. i wanted to take amrit, but my parents don't let me and say im too young. i've learnt gurmukhi and the rehat myraada from online and gurughar. every time i take a step towards being a sikh, they pull me back. i feel like i'm losing my faith what should i do? should i give up or should I wait till i'm more control of my life?

Dear Sikhsangat, please could this message be forwarded to anyone who may be interested in the following: With the quest for independence of Khlaistan, I have noticed that we need to be able to express this with instant recognition. Many other countries that seek independence have this and are instantly identified with their message for all people to see. With Khalistan we currently do not have this (yet), with it, it will make a great impact!!! As other nations who have seeked independce have shown. Being Catalans and Basques in Spain, Tamils in Sri Lanka, Palestinians in Israel, Chechens in Russia, Scots in UK, Kurds in Turkey/Syria/Iraq, Ibo in Nigeria, Serbs i…
