  1. It's the Gurdwara prabhandaks that allow their chums (usually business partners or friends of business partners of their relatives, and so on) onto the stage on a Sunday afternoon - whilst everyone is licking their fingers after eating their kraah prashaad - that should look at themselves in the mirror. Of course nobody is holding a gun to a voter, but as a Gurughar prabhandhak I would think it would be best to only invite those MPs to speak to the sangat who have firm and concrete policies to benefit the Sikh community. But I guess that's too much to ask for our dodgy elders.

  2. He is from my area and believe me that there are more Sikhs on side of dem candidate Jerry mcnerny, who in past supported Sikhs in every possible way. There are some punjabis who are die hard fan of Ricky gill for various personal reason. Ricky is none but a rich kid with inflated resume.

  3. Taken from AmericanTurban.com By Rupinder Mohan Singh In his address to the Republican National Convention today, Ricky Gill, who we can only presume is a Sikh American running for Congress in California’s 9th Congressional District, passed on the unique opportunity to acknowledge our visible minority — whose recent turmoil in Oak Creek, Wisconsin occurred not a month ago — on the national stage. In his speech, Gill disappointingly neglected to make any reference to his Sikh background, instead naming “India and Africa”. This follows a trend with Gill in that he has never openly acknowledged his Sikh faith, and instead, appears to make every effort to downplay this background. Despite this reluctance, the Sikh American community, which has become very topical given the mass shooting at the Oak Creek, Wisconsin Gurdwara earlier this month, has been one that Gill has solicited heavily for campaign donations. He comes from a Sikh family, and the district he seeks to represent contains the oldest Gurdwara (Sikh house of worship) in the United States, in Stockton, California. The Central Valley of California is known for its large and historic Sikh American population. The tragedy is, of course, that Sikhs in California who hoped he would provide a voice for the community in the federal government have supported him significantly, but Gill fails to honor this moral contract. If we needed any evidence of Gill’s inability or unwillingness to be that representative, we now have it. LODI, CA - Congressional candidate Ricky Gill today delivered the following remarks at the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Florida: "My name is Ricky Gill, and I am humbled to stand before you today as a Republican nominee for Congress – and a proud son of California’s San Joaquin Valley. My parents immigrated to the Valley from India and Africa with only their love for each other, a strong work ethic, and the enduring desire to pursue their American Dream. We all work hard in the Valley, and we’re proud to live there. But today we face crippling unemployment and foreclosures-even the bankruptcy of Stockton, our largest city. Young people leave — or drop out of school to help their families make ends meet. Our friends and neighbors are suffering. But the Valley is a cautionary tale of failed policies, not false ambitions. No one in this country dreams of dependency; no one hopes for mediocrity. We are ready again to seize the measure of our ambitions – not because the government says we can, but because we believe we can. We need a new generation of leadership to chart the path – to fight for policies that create jobs, rather than red tape — and to help small businesses succeed, rather than helping green energy companies fail.[/indent] Like you, we Valley folks are tough, independent, and faithful – and we are ready to rebuild our American Dream. Thank you, and God Bless America."

  4. Because there is a percieved notion that they are one of "us", as stupide as it sounds. Typical republican! yes, cos a lot of our people still think it's cowboys vs indians. Thanks Mrsingh, i am form wolverhampton, and uppals father owns Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib Gurdwara. Uppal is totaly rendundant on Sikh issues, and the idiots in his ward, voted him in just cos of his brown face and thinking he is one of us, and he will do amazing things for our community. I knew him before he got elected, and I warned some of the players at Sedgely St not to get him voted over Rob Marris, who was also the Chair of the All Party Sikh Group, and he was always at the Sikh Federation Convention every September, and always managed to get some medium-high ranking official form ther Labour Party to attend. uppal has never been once in his life. That tell you all about the stupidity of the Sikh elders. Its a tribal thang.

  5. Who said he was Sikh anyway? Lol, Im not judging anybody but Sikhs nowadays only look at a person's name or if they wear a Kara to define whether a person is a Sikh or not. I'm not saying he has to be amritdhari or anything like that, but even so, we shouldnt just give someone the title of Sikh without knowing whether they visit the Gurdwara regularly, do they know anything about the 11 prophets of Sikhism etc. BTW, please do not interpret this post as Mona = Non-Sikh. Mona or Kesadhari, knowing something about your religion is the minimum to justify the title of Sikh. Secondanly, Sikhs in the UK (me included) should shy away from giving any advice to Americans or Canadians on how to vote. It is the dumb Sikhs of Wolverhampton who did the following: General Election 2010 Wolverhampton Seat: - Rob Marris (Labour), had served as chair of all parliamentary group of Sikhs, helped stop the visit of Tytler or another known Genocide culprit in the early 2000's, championed Sikh rights. - He was up against "Paul Uppal", I believe he is a trustee of a local Gurdwara in Wolverhampton. No evidence to suggest that Paul Uppal would help out SIkhs anymore than Marris did. - Dumbo sikhs of wolverhampton at the election, voted to kick Marris out and Uppal in. I urge wolverhampton Sikhs to come on this forum and tell us did Waheguru give you just 2 ****** brain cells or did you have one to many glassys and voted for the wrong person on the day. How the **** is Marris feeling. Helped Sikhs and got ditched by em. Same thing happened In Southall with "Virendra Sharma" voted in against a Singh of the Khalsa who stood for Torys. Now I am a Labour man, cant stand the torys, but even I would elect to vote in a member of the great 10th prophet's brotherhood over a high caste brahmin. Moral of the Story: Sikhs in UK have no right lecturing others. P.S. I would urge Pat Mcfadden and John Mcdonnell to watch out in 2015, you might be out of a job because our lot cant see past their own nose when it comes to voting.

  6. Change has to come within Sikh Community. If we keep voting for opportunist, individuals who exploit the community, then we have no reason to whine collectively as community. We bring punjab mentality here which gives our so called leaders to flirt with the idea of punjab type politics. In general, we as community need to set the bar high or precedent that just because you have dhara or some punjabi sikh name in election does not mean you will get automatic votes. All punjabi type politicians need to be summon by community leaders to explain themselves why should we vote for your party? Not you but your party? We are not even asking right questions here as we limit ourselves to mp in our area and not looking at larger implication- nation wide interest. We sikhs should not only look for personal interest but nation wide interest as whole as well as we ask for sarbat da bhalla every day. Here in Canada, i laugh at all these right wing conservatives sikh politicians and sikhs who supported them. How could a sikh politician be evangelical or Anglican conservatives is beyond me...!!!! Now conservatives who are in majority power came back and bite us in our arse..!! We are truly are our worst enemies..!!

  7. For longest time, i also wanted to know the past life but i came to understanding - sikhi encourages whatever happened in the past life- don't pay much attention to it that the human life is precious and we got this human life after countless of reincarnations of various animals/ghost/spirits etc..So we need to appreciate this human life and keep moving fwd for milaap with vahiguroo and keep doing good karams. There is a reason why kids after age of two forget all about their past life naturally so human can go fwd. I think knowing your past life may sometimes solves dilemma and riddle battling with one's mind but for the most part it just open whole lot of can of worms which you may not be able to handle (don't ask for something which you cannot handle..!!) ..one also will start living in the past rather than present.!!! For eg- if one goes through 100 past lives through regression, there are major chances one will start living in the past than present or future..!! So yeah in short- don't ask for something which you cannot handle..!!!

  9. Wahe Guru ji ka Khalsa Wahe Guru ji ki Fateh I have put up various sources of Sikh history on my site: www.gsmann.com It also includes many of my articles that i have written over the many years: including information from my MA in Sri Dasam Granth Sahib from 2001 and many articles that appeared in journals. Recently i have put up the following: 1) British and the Sikhs: the Akali Nihangs in 3 parts(more to come) 2) Rare document on the Treaty between the Lahore government and the British( Koh-i-noor and Duleep Singh) 3) A article on the history of Takht Patna Sahib from 2008. Forthcoming various rare material on Sikh and Punjab history including never seen before Sikh manuscripts and how the British broke down the Sikh Religion with missionaries. I will not be able to answer every question on the documents that i have posted due to time constraints but hopefully this information can help in understanding our religion better. 10. Jathedar Baba Hanuman Singh Ji Shaheed Fresco of Baba Hanuman Singh Ji at Gurdwara Baba Atal Rai, Amritsar Akaali Baba Hanuman Singh Ji, The 7th leader of the Budha Dal, was born to Baba Garja Singh Ji and Mata Harnam Kaur Ji in November 1755. Baba Ji fought in many great battles under the leadership of Akaali Baba Naina Singh Ji and Akaali Baba Phula Singh Ji (the 5th and 6th Jathedars of Budha Dal). After the Shaheedi of Akaali Phula Singh Ji at Naushera in 1823, Baba Hanuman Singh Ji became the leader of the Akaali Nihangs, as well as the Jathedar of Akaal Takht Sahib at the age of 68 years old. Akaali Baba Hanuman Singh Ji’s tenure as Jathedar of the Sikh nation came as the Panth was experiencing a very critical time. The Maharaja of the Punjab, Ranjit Singh died from stroke complications, his successors were murdered, the treacherous Dogra’s sold out the Lahore Darbar to the British, and the British were planning on annexing the Punjab. Trusted Sikh general Sardar Sham Singh Attari came to the city of Amritsar and approached Jathedar Hanuman Singh for assistance against the British. Meeting at the Akaal Takht, Sham Singh said to Baba Hanuman Singh “Baba Ji, I wish to fight against the British, but have no army. I have no more then myself and my sons.” Baba Ji replied “Oh Singh Ji, who does this Akaali fauj belong to, if not to the Sikh nation.” During the battle of Sabroan, Sardar Sham Singh Ji and many Sikh warriors received martyrdom fighting the British soldiers, inflicting huge losses to the invaders. Baba Hanuman Singh Ji and the remaining Singhs went to camp out in the Sikh Princely state of Patiala. The King of Patiala, Maharaja Karam Singh upon receiving word that the knights of the Guru were camped out in his state, out of fear of retribution for his support to the British, Karam Singh informed the British of the whereabouts of the Jathedar and Sikh army. Baba Ji and the Sikh soldiers were surrounded by the British and their Sikh cohorts, the Princes’ of Patiala, Jind, Faridkot and other traitors. The British army and their Sikh stooges opened up cannon fire on the Sikhs. 15,000 Sikhs attained martyrdom at the spot where Gurdwara Dukh Niwaran now stands in the district of Patiala. Budha Dal oral tradition states that 32,000 Singhs became shaheed during this battle. Leader of the Sikh army, Jathedar Baba Hanuman Singh Ji and around 500 Nihang warriors survived this attack, and continued to fight the heavy cannon fire of the British, with swords, bows and arrows, axes and matchlock fire. Finally after running out of gun powder and watching thousands of Sikh warriors achieve shaheedi, the brave Jathedar of the Guru’s beloved Khalsa, Akaali Baba Hanuman Singh Ji died fighting for the freedom of the people of Punjab at the age of 90. After the martyrdom of Baba Hanuman Singh, Akaali Baba Prehlada Singh Ji became the 8th leader of the Akaali Nihang Singh Khalsa. The British implemented a shoot to kill order on the Nihang Singhs, and Baba Prehlada Singh left for the holy Takht Sahib at Nander to regroup the Akaali army. The few remaining Nihang Singhs, left with Baba Ji towards Hazoor Sahib, or moved camp to the jungles of Punjab and Rajputana to preserve the heritage of the Guru’s army. Gurdwara Sohana Sahib Ji located in the Mohali district of Punjab, was built on the shaheedi asthan (place of martrydom) of Baba Hanuman Singh Ji, in memory of a brave leader of the Sikh nation. Baba Ji lived the life of a true Khalsa, and embodied the teachings of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. In the immortal words of Bhagat Kabir Ji: ਗਗਨ ਦਮਾਮਾ ਬਾਜਿਓ ਪਰਿਓ ਨੀਸਾਨੈ ਘਾਉ ॥ The battle-drum beats in the sky of the mind; aim is taken, and the wound is inflicted. ਖੇਤੁ ਜੁ ਮਾਂਡਿਓ ਸੂਰਮਾ ਅਬ ਜੂਝਨ ਕੋ ਦਾਉ ॥੧॥ The spiritual warriors enter the field of battle; now is the time to fight! ਸੂਰਾ ਸੋ ਪਹਿਚਾਨੀਐ ਜੁ ਲਰੈ ਦੀਨ ਕੇ ਹੇਤ ॥ He alone is known as a spiritual hero, who fights in defense of religion. ਪੁਰਜਾ ਪੁਰਜਾ ਕਟਿ ਮਰੈ ਕਬਹੂ ਨ ਛਾਡੈ ਖੇਤੁ ॥੨॥੨॥ He may be cut apart, piece by piece, but he never leaves the field of battle.

  11. Hari Singh Randhawa in the above video claims that Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji Maharaj started the udasis Panth and it was not Sri Chand. Today many Sikhs have jumped on this bandwagon and have started saying the same without listening to Katha of Satguru Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji Maharaj or reading Gurbani or reading Bhai Gurdas Ji's Vaars. First Hari Singh Randhawa says this tuk to back up his theory that Satguru started Udasis: gur bcnI bwhir Gir eyko nwnku BieAw audwsI ]5]11] gur bachanee baahar ghar eaeko naanak bhaeiaa oudhaasee ||5||11|| According to the Word of the Guru's Teachings, what is outside is the same as what is inside the home of the self. Nanak has become a detached renunciate. ||5||11|| http://sikhitothemax...p?ShabadID=3666 So at the beginning of this shabad a person ask Satguru Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji Maharaj if he is a yogi, sant ji says. Satguru Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji Maharaj responds by saying: Raag Maaru--Ang-992 jogI jugiq nwmu inrmwielu qw kY mYlu n rwqI ] jogee jugath naam niramaaeil thaa kai mail n raathee || The Yogi who is joined to the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is pure; he is not stained by even a particle of dirt. Then they ask who is a Brahmin from Maharaj a few tuks down and Maharaj responds by saying: bRhmxu bRhm igAwn iesnwnI hir gux pUjy pwqI ] brehaman breham giaan eisanaanee har gun poojae paathee || He alone is a Brahmin, who takes his cleansing bath in the spiritual wisdom of God, and whose leaf-offerings in worship are the Glorious Praises of the Lord. Then at the end Satguru says this to him: gur bcnI bwhir Gir eyko nwnku BieAw audwsI ]5]11] gur bachanee baahar ghar eaeko naanak bhaeiaa oudhaasee ||5||11|| According to the Word of the Guru's Teachings, what is outside is the same as what is inside the home of the self. Nanak has become a detached renunciate. ||5||11|| The above tuk katha starts at 32:15 to the end of the recording. Sant Baba Gurbachan Singh ji Maharaj here makes it clear that Satguru is talking about a spiritual state and it has nothing to do with starting a sect called udasis or being an udasis as Sri Chand was. Hari Singh Randhawa needs to read the whole shabad before doing arth of this one tuk and presenting the tuk to the sangat as if Satguru is saying i am udasis. Hari Singh Randhawa, also uses the following tuk to back up his claim: bwby ByK bxwieAw audwsI kI rIiq clweI] baabae bhaekh banaaeiaa oudhaasee kee reeth chalaaee|| To further understand the people, Guru Nanak donned robes in their manner and preached them to be detached (from the pleasure and pain). http://sikhitothemax...p?ShabadID=5564 From this Vaar of Bhai Gurdas Ji’s i could not find Sant Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji Maharaj’s katha. It is not on Gurmatveechar.com. But in the same Vaar (1) in pauri 38 Bhai Gurdas Ji tells us that Satguru Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj takes off the udasi garb. Listening to this katha Sant ji says that Satguru adorned the udasi garb to teach the udasis what it really means to be an udasi. Sant ji gives the example of how Satguru went to Mecca and Satguru adorned the blue garb. Just because Satguru adorned the blue garb of the Muslims doesn’t mean Satguru became a Muslim or started the Muslim religion. Again Hari Singh Randhawa has failed to learn from his teacher (Sant ji and Bhai Gurdas ji) and has distorted Bhai Gurdas Ji’s Vaars to support Udasis. Hari Singh Randhawa is adding his own man made theories here to support what he believes for whatever reason. Vaar 01 Pauri 38 - Baba Aaiya Kartarpur The above Katha starts at 2:25 Katha on Nirmal Panth: Vaar 01 Pauri 45 - Ziaarat Kar Multaan Di Vaar 01 Pauri 45 - Ziaarat Kar Multaan Di - Version 02 Nirmal Panth is first mentioned at 4:50 to 6:00. Here Sant ji refers to Sikhi as the Nirmal Panth which Satguru started and where Satguru Sri Guru Angad Dev ji Maharaj was the second Guru of this Nirmal Panth. In the second version of the above Katha Sant ji makes it even more clear that Satguru is refering to the Khalsa Panth, by saying in farsi this Panth is called Khalsa Panth. But if you listen to Hari Singh Randhawa he distorts Bhai Gurdas Ji Vaars and says Satguru Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji Maharaj started the Nirmal Samprada. This is wrong because the Nirmal Samprada, which Hari Singh is refering to, was started by Bhai Daya Singh ji. Then again Hari Singh to confuse the sangat says in the 10th form Satguru increased this Nirmal Panth. So Hari Singh should be asked why are you distorting Bhai Gurdas Ji Vaars? Why not do the correct arth of Bhai Gurdas Ji Vaars like your teacher Sant Baba Gurbachan Singh ji Maharaj does? Hari Singh Randhawa also says the Gurus did puja of Sri Chand. Correct me if im wrong and misheard. This is a huge insult to the Gurus by Hari Singh Randhawa. What is Hari Singh’s evidence for this, what is his source? Surely not Bhai Gurdas Ji Vaars or Gurbani because both sources tell us that Sri Chand went against Satguru and the former source tells us that Sri Chand could not find liberation. Does Bhai Gurdas Ji Vaars or Gurbani say anywhere that Satguru started udasi or was a udasi? From Sant Ji’s katha, he has made it clear this was not the case at all. Infact Gurbani give us the explanation of what a Udasi and householder is in this Shabad: This Shabad is by Guru Nanak Dev Ji in Raag Prabhaatee on Pannaa 1329 pRBwqI mhlw 1 ] prabhaathee mehalaa 1 || Prabhaatee, First Mehla: Awvqu iknY n rwiKAw jwvqu ikau rwiKAw jwie ] aavath kinai n raakhiaa jaavath kio raakhiaa jaae || No one can hold anyone back from coming; how could anyone hold anyone back from going? ijs qy hoAw soeI pru jwxY jW aus hI mwih smwie ]1] jis thae hoaa soee par jaanai jaa(n) ous hee maahi samaae ||1|| He alone thoroughly understands this, from whom all beings come; all are merged and immersed in Him. ||1|| qUhY hY vwhu qyrI rjwie ] thoohai hai vaahu thaeree rajaae || Waaho! - You are Great, and Wondrous is Your Will. jo ikCu krih soeI pru hoiebw Avru n krxw jwie ]1] rhwau ] jo kishh karehi soee par hoeibaa avar n karanaa jaae ||1|| rehaao || Whatever You do, surely comes to pass. 12. I have seen many Mona Sikhs who are very pro Sikhi and panthic at heart, those types of brothers certainly deserve votes. Main thing is to vote for the person who best deserves the vote. Who will stand up for the Sikhs when Sikhs need them. Uncle Tom types who try to hide their Sikh heritage as if it is an embarrassment to them need to be voted for. These types of coconuts only remember their Sikh heritage when it is election time and come to the Gurdwara to show how Desi they are. Take this Uncle Tom Ricky Gill here, he mentions his Indian and African heritage yet hides his Sikh heritage. Does he deserve Sikh votes? Vote for the Gorah opposite to him instead and show this uncle Tom what Sikhs think of him. Same thing with Nicky Haley. When she needs money from the Sikh community she adds Aulakh to her name to show her Punjabi Sikh background but conveniently tries to hide her Sikh background in front of Goray every chance she gets, especially when she tries to show how strict she is in her Christian beliefs. Sikhs have plenty of such Uncle Toms in the west. They are opportunists (& crooks) and don't deserve Sikh votes or money.

  13. I agree. If they aren't practicing Sikhs, then that's their perogative. But then they shouldn't come to gurdwaras asking for money and votes, and we shouldn't be giving them either. Especially when non-Sikh politicians do more for our community than they do. Technically Ricky Gill is the first Sikh to speak at a republican national convention, but nobody even knows that he comes from a Sikh background. He does such a good job of hiding it! Everyone is giving the honor to Ishwar Singh ji, who is set to speak tonight.

  14. Yes I agree with you on how damaging communists were to the Sikhs. Many communists that emigrated to the west used the word communist to give them an excuse to cut their hair , drink and smoke. They had no idea what communism was and acted as the worst capitalists by buying flash cars and working for imperialist goras . They left their children confused and they ended hating Sikhs as well, they taunted Sikh children about their turbans and identity. Things fell apart for the communists when their children started marrying Muslims, Blacks and whites, suddenly they started finding their Sikh identity but it was to late then, the damage to the Sikh community had been done. The strange thing is many communists come to the Gurdwara and eat langar and want to get on committees whilst at the same time condeming the Sikhs. The funny thing is their wife's fed up listening to their nonsense for years have taken Amrit! In India Harkrishan Surjeet the communist leader made a fortune by acting as a Police informer leading to the death of hundreds of Sikhs. The communists acted as the lapdogs of Delhi, having been used , Delhi has now thrown them in the dustbin. They cannot even win a single seat in the Punjab.

  15. I suppose you would have liked to have kept the pro British Mahants in control of the Gurdwaras who drank and smoked and kept prostitutes. I am surprised at this revisionist history, look at the Nankana Sahib massacre, the Jaito morchas, how many Sikhs became shaheed at the hands of the pro British mahants. You sound like the people who say the Jews were responsible for the holocaust.

  17. I am not all that surprised after all. Punjabi tribalism (fake anakh, land greed, money, power, abuse) all have crept into all sikh jathebandhiyas and samparda. You study any samparda or jatha either there is ruala rappa of gaddi or zamin raula...there is always one problem or another directly/indirectly related to punjab tribalism.!!! Sikhs who go to sikh jathebandiyas and samparda with vidya learning and to get peace of mind need to understand- a minute sikh from abroad start scratching politics within samparda or jatha dera they putting themselves in a very dangerous position..stay away from it..you can get killed over it in punjab!!..many sikhs in samparda or jatha are highly influenced by punjabi tribalism, all that sweet talk of gurmat sidhant will go off to window a minute they realize you could be hindrance in their path for getting power you are off the grid..!! Its for that vary reason, its extremely imperative to fix society/mindset in punjab first than issues in the panth. As soon as soceity in punjab as whole is fixed, all the problems in the panth will automatically get fixed as those who are in authority themselves are victim of punjab tribalism which is much more venomous and much more broader problem in punjab than anything else..!!

  18. Balbir Singh was Baba Santa Singh's Garvaee Singh (close attendant) and did his seva...some say that when Baba Santa Singh became ill, Balbir Singh is supposed to have forcefully taken control of property through forced thumb prints and so he took control over Budha Dal by force. Today, some accept him as Jathedar out of fear/greed/apathy, while others have boycotted him. Hence why you now have Baba Surjeet Singh also being seen as the Jathedars of Budha dal and his absence while in jail, it is Baba Joginder Singh (Rakba).

  19. The answer given is for the ekta (unity) of the panth...but my question back is always, why wasn't Baba Santa Singh thinking about ekta/unity when the dharam yudh morcha was taking place? My personal opinion is that Baba Santa Singh DID consider himself to be the rightful Jathedar of Sri Akaal Takhat Sahib, hence he would never have gone to get Tankha. I beleive he was coerced to do so by Baba Balbir Singh to ensure he (Balbir Singh) was recognised as the next jathedar of Budha Dal by SGPC, but this could only happen if Budha Dal was recognised once again by the panth, so this could only happen if Baba Santa Singh went pesh. So in my opinion and may others from the Dal panth, is that they beleive Baba Santa Singh was actually forced to go pesh and him going pesh would never have happened if it wasn't for his ill health and Baba Balbir Singh's control over him physically. Baki Maharaaj jane!

  20. He seems like a coconut like nicky hailey. Sikhs in America need to ditch this guy. Don't waste your money and vote on someone who will not do anything for the community. Look at Canadian Sikh politicians. They always raise their voice for their community. That's the kind of politician you should donate to or vote for. Under normal circumstances I think Sikhs should always vote for a fellow Sikh. But if that fellow Sikh is trying to distance himself from his Sikh heritage and acting like an uncle Tom then it's better to vote and donate to the Gorah opposite to him.

  25. Santa Singh's treachery in 1984 and his tankhah in 2001 presents quite a dilemma. As a so-called Mahapurush, Santa Singh could not make any mistakes much less one that did the greatest damage to the unity of the Panth at a time when it was under attack by the government of India. If he was in the right as any Mahapurush should be 100% of the time then why did he seek tankhah? His statement made at the time is that he was seeking forgiveness from the Akal takht. You can only ask for forgiveness if you have make a MISTAKE. Both the above cannot be right at the same time. Either he was a Mahapurush and what he did in helping Indira Gandhi in his battle against the Panth was the right thing to do making it the first time in history that a few thousand Nihangs were in the right and over 15 million Sikhs were in the wrong In which case he played a ruse with the Sikhs in 2001 when he asked for tankah when as a Mahapurush he should have stood his ground with the truth.

  26. Looking at all this history in these pictures is like telling a million words. It's incredible. The sad portion that's in the back of my mind that bugs me is the question : will we be able to regain real Sardari and anakh back into the kaum? Will we be able to preserve our history and understand/learn from it to empower ourselves to recreate and learn from our mistakes. I know we can, but it's easy to get restless when you don't see any tangible progress.

We should be proud of our royal sikh chivalry..Ultimate satkar is given to sri guru granth sahib maharaj in tri folds (aad, dasam, sarbloh) then guru khalsa panth and knights of guru khalsa panth- jathedars, bhramgyani mahapursh..!! I know by looking at sad state of affairs these days most sikhs will get their knickers in twist but there was time where true sikh bhramgyanis were given utmost satkar whilst keep in mind ultimate satkar is given to sri guru granth sahib ji . Like for example- Sangat in hoti mardan, pakistan used to take sri hazoor baba karam singh ji maharaj hoti mardan wale in palki just shows royalty in sikh panth..there is also an rare picture of sant attar singh maharaj maustanewale on elephant along with nihang jathedar ji on different elephant (see-attached) passing by british colonialism .!!! Khalsa is embodiment of sri guru gobind singh maharaj...!!! We need to be proud of our royal hertiage..!!

  28. :blush2: < My face looking at all these pictures. Is it wrong to have a desire to live in times like these? At the end of the day is it just simply desire or is it okay as a Sikh to have such a desire? Not sure if you guys understand what i'm asking.

  30. If someone understands Sikhi, they could blow these missionaries away. Dharmic religions are light years ahead of Abrahamic faiths.

  31. Ha! You Brits are so lucky you don't have to share a country with these people. Unfortunately, I think most of the missionaries in Punjab are cut from this very cloth. They think Jesus won't come back unless the whole world embraces Christianity and the Jews are in Israel. This is part of the reason why America backs Israel.

  32. It aint that clear cut. I thought pendus were bad with their black and white thinking, youths seems gone over board with their black and white thinking or may be watching too much fox news..lol Did someone ask baba nihal singh ji harian wale, what does he think about baba santa singh ? He surely consider baba santa singh as mahapursh ..yet baba nihal singh ji is respected everywhere by everyone including sant jarnail singh bhindranwale...!!! I don't want to sound arrogrant but as i said earlier, 80% of mahapursh chelas of any kind are cultist types and are the biggest cause of divisions in the panth..they all lost plot in sikhi!!!!!!!!.. youths need to wake up and learn how to look at positives in people and leave the negative out..!!!

  33. It's cool. We should all learn and grow. Questioning things, revising opinions, self-analysis, then thinking "You know what I thought earlier wasn't half wrong" and incorporating newly acquired knowledge into current beliefs, etc., is great IMO.

  36. Vaheguru Vaheguru. That is ridiculous! What blessings will the family receive from Guru Ji's visit? The Gurdwara Sahib committee should say listen, Guru Ji will come if you never bring alcohol and meat into the house again! Anyway, this is totally wrong!! If the matter persists and no solution is obtained, kindlymessage Daas the date of the Paath, the Gurdwara Sahib name and the address of the home.

  37. I have the upmost respect for Gianni Takhur Singh, but who really can say who is or is not in Sachkhand? Maybe Baba Santa Singh is, but it's still true that he will always be know as gadar for his role in the 1980's. That being said, since he accepted Tankha for his actions and admitted his mistake, then we shouldn't keep bringing it up again and again.

  38. Excellent post...i think applies to Taksali's, AKJ's etc too. In a nutshet it applies to us all really! To be honest, this is what i was told this too, but when Baba Joginder Singh (Buddha Dal) came down to UK, he used to drink too much Sukha on a daily basis...which has now changed my perseption to believe that even most of the jathedars do (not all though)

  39. There are Sikh oral traditions - seena basina traditions (passed on generations to generations) i.e - jhatka, sukha, seva of horse, shastarvidya etc to keep sikh martial chivalry hertiage alive, then there are Sikh spiritual traditions based on Gurbani i.e - panj granthi, das granthi nitneem, kirtan, arti-arta etc. As soon as minute extra is spent on oral traditions and prefered over spiritual tradtions based on Gurbani not just nihang but any sikh, one loooses plot on Sikhi. In puratan times, Nihang Singhs are known for their shud dasam guru bani, countless bani from aad guru granth sahib memorized on lips but these days its other way around, except for their jathedars most of them and youths spent all day engaging (discussing or debating) oral traditions so so much they are going away from spritual traditions, just empty vessel bigging up their oral traditions- jhatka, sukha, farla (reduced to fashion garment) etc. Dressing up like a nihang singh has become a social status for youths abroad these days but inside usually youths are spiritualy bankrupt as they are preferring oral traditions over spiritual traditions.. Nihangs must have fine balance just like their jathedars..Even their jathedars mahapursh, they only perform jhatka or sukha only on big occasions like jor melas rather than every day event which so called youth nihangs engage like it some high school party..!!!!

  42. Do Chaupai Sahib when you can. I've started aiming for 10 chaupai sahib paaths each day, during the day. Once the banee is kanth in your mind, you can do it when you want!

  43. The strenght of the Nihang Singhs was about 4,000 active soldiers who fought in the campaigns with the main Khalsa army. Cunningham reproduced the Khalsa army structure in his book History of the Sikhs from the Darbar records. The Nihangs fought bravely in the defence of the Sikh state and most were killed at the Battle of Sobroan in 1846 so it would have been difficult to amass large numbers afterwards. A lot ordinary Sikhs did fight alongside the the main Sikh army as well so they could increase numbers by a few thousand, Those Nihangs were on a different level from many of those today where today we see Guru Gobind Singh Ji being ridiculed daily by fake Babas, Cults and indirectly by the Government but no action is taken by the Nihangs.
