  1. I always see Sikhs affiliated with various jathanbandi say.. Oh, I'm just a Sikh, I believe in diversity and I am not one sided jathanbandi guy etc etc... In reality it is always opposite of that !! No matter how hard they try, it never works.. I am not saying it is a bad thing but such thing is the reason why we lost 80's fight and so on...

  2. Not sure we should assimilate! I don't wish to become part of the Borg collective! You will never be able to please those who demand we "integrate". There will always be some sticking point regarding us not being quite this or that, depending on the criteria an individual uses to measure these kind of things. The best you can be is true to yourself and treat everyone you encounter with respect. If that's not good enough for some people then those same people are best avoided.

  3. Good point made. we have to forget the differences. We have to start on this board and start by spreading love. debating but not having hatred just like sikhs like sant giani sundar singh bhindranwale. mithe mithe bol. One whose heart is filled with jealousy of others, never comes to any good. No one pays any attention to what he says; he is just a fool, crying out endlessly in the wilderness. One whose heart is filled with malicious gossip, is known as a malicious gossip; everything he does is in vain. Night and day, he continually gossips about others; his face has been blackened, and he cannot show it to anyone. The body is the field of action, in this Dark Age of Kali Yuga; as you plant, so shall you harvest.

  4. The term "the melting pot" is being changed by many teachers, but many still adhere to teaching it to kids at schools. The reason why it's not correct because many different cultures come to USA and assimilate and adopt culture of America, but at the same time retain their individuality. It's more accurate to say it's a salad bowl than a melting pot.

  5. USA never listen to such crap from any country when it comes to protect basic fundamentals of freedom of expression of its citizens. They don't even nod their head and sheeply listen to false propaganda in such a crappy manner that Canadian Baird did.

  11. I agree. During the 80s Sikhs were extremely angry, especially during 84 when Darbar Sahib was attacked and Sikhs were murdered after Indira Gandhi died. Many Sikhs at the time became very over emotional and said things that were not politically correct. As pro active jee pointed out, it's not like he literally killed 50,000 Hindus you know. You have to be alive during those times to understand. It's very easy for us now almost 3 decades after 84 to point fingers at flaan tamkaan said this and that. It's almost like a self hating Jew today trying to dissect the words of what a Jew might have said against Germany as the holocaust was happening against the Jewish people.

  12. Neo you've been going on about that guy for ages. Try and think back to the time he was making the emotional speech. The Durbar Sahib had been attacked and no one knew what damage the haram.zada Indian army had done there and how many Sikhs had been murdered. It wasn't the best thing to have said but that time was an emotional time. So give the guy a break. He didn't actually go out and kill 50,000 Hindus.

  13. There are those who purposely say such things to defame the Sikh community. If people start to openly expose them, then it will make these gov lap dogs think twice before they spew such an agenda.

  14. The video below is quite good, it actually shows raw agents here ( with or without sikh garb) in Canada paying punjabi india media in canada to run negative press against - Canadian sikhs exposing human right abuses in India and against those who are simply asking for sovereignty. I say we need to play smart for the sake of betterment of the panth- use soft target book (very good analysis ) to get questionable sikh figures- potential GOI agents, and declare them GOI agents openly in the nagar kirtan next year and create a hysteria and hype so media picks up....!! I have no sympathy for these guys who go openly threaten to kill 50,000 hindus in new york madison square garden it was shown by CBC and youths shown in ISYF video shown by CBC where bunch of sikh youths (looks like 30+) openly talks about some plot and declare at this point does not even matter if innocent sikhs have to pay their price..!! We need to do some damage control in the media and stay away from these questionable characters in the panth, condemn them at every chance we get but more importantly its a right thing to do we need to uphold khalsa ideals than following our own little tribal associations..!!. I stay away from all the nagar kirtan but sikhs with any ethics who puts khalsa ideals first than tribal mentality second need to decide and declare either a) declare these goons as extremist and declare sikh community at large in canada have nothing to do with these people or b) declare these individuals as GOI agents..!!!

  15. guy who uploaded the video has many "sikhs are hindu" videos up. Sant Jarnail Singh ji never asked for a sikh homeland, he wanted the anandpur resoloution, fair rights for sikhs and all punjabis (regardless of religion) to be given by the indian government. This was a civil rights movement for sikhs and punjabis where we have punjabs water (most of the water is goven to other states, punjab left with nothing), To teach sikhi properly without interferance and teaching young sikhs to become educated and to learn about sikhi, this resoloution sant ji pushed was for eradication of poverty. (http://en.wikipedia....dpur_Resolution) so, this is what the singhs of bluestar wanted, what all sikhs and people in punjab wanted. who cares if it isnt written, if a state wants to annhuilate a religion, kill its followers, destroy its places of worship why shouldnt those people get a country, they clearly aren't safe. the jews after the holocaust got israel, why can't sikhs after years of genocide, ethnic cleansing, attacks on faith, and unequal rights have their own place where they are safe and secure?

  16. There will be no unity in the panth until mainstream and puratan samparda's and sikhs from punjab/hazoor sahib stop demonizing demoralize each other just by looking at each other and calling them-atvadis, bhausaria panthis, kachae, pillaie, dhillaie, dandi-kalan, anti gurmat, bhramins, rss, congress, mahants (in a negative tone) etc etc etc. I hate to say but looking at the current times especially among youths, it will take another national crisis against sikhs to bring everyone together..its sad because we don't have to have national crisis to come together, unity/diversity should be our natural response by looking at the gurbani itself how all the bhagats from different walks of life ( different rituals/rehni behni/outer apperance/dress) was all included in sri guru granth sahib ji and 52 diverse poets accepted in guru gobind singh darbar..now thats a sign of unity and diversity...!!. I blame punjabi tribalism and over zealous cultish chelas of all personalities (be it bhai sahib ji, sant ji, jathedar ji, mahant ji etc ) in the panth from all jathebandiya and samparda'vas for disunity in the panth and i blame all opportunist both from extreme right and extreme left for brainwashing youths (those who look up to them) to further cause division and disunity..!! Be independent, watch everything from eagle eye (panoramic view of the panth), you will see unity within diversity..!!

  22. Still, his works cannot be denounced based on his association with any particular group. Validity of an argument rests on its own credibility i.e. premises and evidence provided. Since I have studied his books, I can confidently say that his interpretation of Gurbani is correct and well within Gurmat. His interpretation is always based on one main principle: Gurbani is not contradictory. Hence, any interpretation that violates this principle is false. I never said he is the only authority but pointed out the fact that assertions made by the Hindu author have been refuted by Bhai Sahib. If there are any refutations in Taksali literature then feel free to mention them. Guru Rakha

  23. I do not belong to that group either. Bhai Randhir Singh was a great gursikh and being a gursikh he is my elder brother. Therefore, a Sikh must listen to what an elder brother has to say on the subject. You may disagree with him but his research of Gurbani must be refuted based on rationality not by categorizing him in a group. By your logic one can denounce Taksal’s interpretation just because it comes from Taksal. This is absurd. Have you even read his books? If you do not personally like him then read Pandit Kartar Singh Dakha’s refutations to Hindu Arya Samajists. You are only hurting yourself by keeping away from Gurbani grammar. Guru Rakha

  24. Many people do as Bhai Sahib was clearly a better GurSikh and many say a Sant than anyone here. Just because you have a differing opinion doesn't mean you should go out of the way to say you don't believe what he interprets Gurbani to be. Discrediting everything for one or two differences causes tension and splits the panth. Again, I'm not from any jathebandi and don't blindly follow anyone either so I'm just saying this as a brother, we're all Sikhs and the sooner we realize that, the better. No one is perfect except Guru Sahib/ Gurbani.

  30. We are here worrying about something that is remotely relevant to bigger problems in our society. I do believe that larrivaar saroops should be encouraged but it very immature and sickening to see some disrespecting non-larrivaar sarrooops. We have tons of apnay who are in trouble understanding Gurbani in non-larrivaar saroops and imagine how hard it will for them to understand larrivaar saroops. Such issues are interesting to those who are out of touch with on-field reality back in Punjab. Discussion on such topics/issues are fine but hold on yourself on some issues, specially haumai. - re-opened thread

  33. Satnaam Ji, I used to ask the same questions a while back. Gurbani says ego causes illusion of being seperate to god and that god exists on the inside and outside of us..i.e. he's everywhere and is everything Gurbani says if you want to find and experience god and know who/what you really are you must look within a(n)thar vasath moorraa baahar bhaalae || Deep within the self is the secret, but the fool looks for it outside. 117 so Guru Ji says look within if you want all your answers how do we look within? gurbani says "prabh ka Simran sabh to ucha" i.e Simran is the highest action/seva we can do. Start your simran...you'll get your answer to this question.... for me i can now say "god is more personal that any other relationship we have in this creation" When we pray....we are talking to god When we do Simran....we are listening to him suniai saraa gunaa kae gaah || Listening-dive deep into the ocean of virtue. 3 suniai laagai sehaj dhhiaan || Listening-intuitively grasp the essence of meditation.3 close your eyes...listen to your mind chattering...learn to ignore it...then listen to yourself within. John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God" gurbani: guramukh dhhiaan sehaj dhhun oupajai sach naam chith laaeiaa || The Gurmukh meditates on the Lord; the celestial sound-current resounds within him, and he focuses his consciousness on the True Name.512 This sound current exists within us all...the inner guru/shabad but we are so attached to the outer world we cannot hear it....thats where simran comes in. guru Ji's instruction above "celestial sound resounds within, and he focusses his consciousness on it" jis dhaa jeeo paraan hai a(n)thar joth apaaraa || The Divine Light of the Infinite Lord, who owns the soul and the breath of life, is deep within the inner being. becomes an explorer of your inner self

  34. Ditto. There is nothing wrong with having different organisations. Let's hope they complement each other.
    1 point
  35. If now the new group has decided to split let's hope they make a coordinated effort and work together instead of trying to work against each other like many splinter groups do when they first split they end up quarreling against the group they broke away from and the result is they both get weaker and lose credibility. So lets hope these two organizations don't pull each other down and instead do the right thing which is learn to work together for the betterment of the Sikhs.
