  1. Brar asks "Who is a terrorist, and who is a freedom fighter?" I'm sure the British would consider Udham Singh and Bhagat Singh to be terrorists. Yet India considers them to be freedom fighters. Why do they dwell on things that happened over 60 years ago? Doesn't making bollywood films of Bhagat Singh, promote terrorism and open old wounds? Shouldn't we move forward, for the sake of British-Indian relations? Pure hypocrisy. People only pick up guns, when you deny them any other peaceful avenue. Why don't they talk about Anandpur Sahib resolution? That is the heart of all of this, not Khalistan.

  3. Let's be honest, that post my Niddar is just a salesman's pitch. He is using the tragedy to gain more chelay for his dodgy 'martial' art. Once you've gained most of the naive and foolish Sikhs in one country, you need to try and gain the naive and foolish Sikhs in another country, expand or die that's the maxim. I trust that the vast majority of the Sikh Sangat in Canada and the US will not be taken in by this snake oil salesman.

  4. A time will come when history will be re-written like it always is. Think of it this way, the Mughals called our Guru Sahibaan and Puratan Shaheed Singhs as "rebels", the British called Shaheed Bhagat Singh and Shaheed Udham Singh as "extremists", and the GOI calls Jujharoo Singhs as "terrorists". The tables will turn, they have to. Truth always prevails.

  6. The worst possible cowards are the ones who hide behind their overwhelming majority. The worst possible cowards are the ones who begged to Guru Tegh Bahadur ji to save them from the Mughal Emperor. The worst possible cowards are the ones who married their daughters to the Mughal Invaders, so they could save their kingdoms. The worst possible cowards are the ones who hid behind Sikhs whenever there was time for action. The worst possible cowards are the ones who bring tanks to fight against a few hundred men, armed with guns. The worst possible cowards are the ones who round up goons to burn down Sikh homes and businesses, and kill innocent women and children.

  7. VJKK VJKF... We are very sorry if you feel there has been a drop of quality with your latest order. We are however using mostly the same suppliers we did when we started and some items such as the Kanga are from our original bulk purchases from when we started up. Every time we order more stock, we ask our partner in Amritsar to try and find even better quality items then we had before and we have never focused on price. A prime example of this is some Gatras we received once, we were slightly unhappy with the quality after using them personally as they got 'burr' on them very quick. Because of this we did not sell them them and we have a box full lying to one side. We started www.SikhiStore.com out of a need we had ourselves in finding Sikhi Items and I can assure you that we still do and always will focus on quality and prompt customer service. This is about offering a great service and not about making money. In fact since we have started, not a single penny profit has been taken out, nobody is paid for the work and all money has gone back into more stock and more variety of items. We have had a lot of advice from the Sangat in the past and none of it goes unheard. We are always happy to hear it and we do our best to act upon it. We want every Bhaji/Bhenji who uses SikhiStore to be 100% satisfied

  8. With Guru Maharaj's Apaar Kirpa the Akal Design team is proud to announce iGurbani for iOS devices. This app requires no internet connection and contains all of the Sikh Scriptures. The focus of this app is to allow the user to accurately read the shabads from the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji following a revolutionary style of showing the vishraams. Instead of commas and other punctuation the vishraams are highlighed in a specific color. PLEASE NOTE: Since the Gurmukhi is from a new source and the database has been rebuilt from the ground up there are some errors that we could not catch during development. We are going to rely on the Sangat to help us identify and correct those errors. Scriptures 1. Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji 2. Sri Dasam Granth Sahib Ji 3. Bhai Gurdas Ji Vaaran 4. 10. Well the blade itself of the first tulwar's blade seems at earliest 20th century/late 19th century and the handle is new indeed (has been recently attached). A pristine condition authentic 16th-17th century Khanda, firangi, shamshir with original gold work can be bought in a range of 1,000-1,500. I would say the first sri sahib is worth 300-600 dollars max, but that's just my opinion and I'm sure many other enthusiasts would agree. The other pieces are nice, but definitely more expensive than they should be. In India what I've noticed is when they realize you're from abroad they think you must have a countless amount of money and will pay whatever they ask (sad thing is some people from the UK do this which is why they do it). If you find a Nihang Singh with sharda in Punjab, despite knowing you're from abroad, they will make you most shastar in high quality of your choice if you tell them exactly what you want. You can get the sher panja made for I'm guessing 500-1000 rupees max for two double bladed. One thing that kind of ticks me of is NRIs who go to Punjab and pay whatever price they're asked without haggling, that really messes it up for us hagglers with a budget haha

  11. If he loved and respected Sikhi he wouldn't have taken it so far as well, but ultimately you should have also known where to draw the line. So, now you have to fight your internal battle and decide if you really want a Gursikh jeevan which means you need discipline or you simply just want to carry on with the guilty feeling of letting yourself down. Asking for "forgiveness" is meaningless unless you know what you really want your life to be based around...At this stage, I don't think you know...whats to say this will not happen again? The best thing to do is grow up, face up to your responsibilities, get married and start a Sikhi life together (if Sikhi is that important to you). If you guys remain in the current relationship then you'll just end up doing things you keep regretting.

  12. mcleod has done some quite good research into his work on the Janamsakhis. It is interesting to read, and given that, when compared to some of the other rubbish he has written, this is well worth reading. No janam sakhi is considered the most authentic, but the most commonly used and paraphrased janamsakhi is Bhai Bala's Janam Sakhi. it would be quite nice to list the different janamsakhis here. I can start with these: Bhai Bala's Hafizabad Janamsakhi Puratan Janamsakhi. Bhai Mani Singh's Janamsakhi.

  13. I am sorry, but this is a con - unless Mr 'Shere Punjab' can provide any evidence to authenticate the age/history of these products. These are not old items ....just because they are a bit rusty, it doesn't mean they are old!! my bike has been in the back garden for the last 12 months, and has similar rust on it. I was at a flea market in France last year, and this guy was selling a pen knife with a Nazi SS logo on it; it looked old and I thought it must be a genuine WW2 Nazi soldier's knife. I asked the price and he said Euros 300 - if he had said Euros 50 or so, I might have considered buying it. Anyway, i looked it up on the internet and it turns out that 1000s of these have been manufactured over the last 20 years and you can buy them online for about Euros 10!! This listing is clearly from someone who thinks that overseas Sikhs may be gullible enough to fall for his pitch!! ..and why on earth, would someone wreck a historic weapon by adding a modern part to it??? absolute nonsense. avoid this...and next time you are in India, pick up some stuff like this for the few hundred or thousand rupees that it probably really costs. nuf said.

  16. NSYF is an independent Sikh youth organisation. However, NSYF is hoping to assist the SIkh Federation (UK) in specific projects and vice versa. For example, working with: Khalsa Human Rights [human rights wing of the SIkh Federation (UK)] to gather and use the evidence against those in Inida who have committed human rights violations against Sikhs International Coalition for a Sikh Homeland [the Sikh Federation (UK) leads the coalition across Europe] to educate Sikhs and non-Sikhs about the Sikh case for a homeland The NSYF is one of the first Sikh organisations in the UK (recently formed) that has publicly clarified its position - it is an independent organisation that focuses on specific and complementary areas of work, but has formed a strategic alliance with the Sikh Federation (UK) to work with the Federation in particular areas. For its part the Sikh Federation (UK) will assist the NSYF e.g. arranging for the NSYF exhibition to be launched in Parliament and shown in various venues in the UK and abroad. The Sikh Federation (UK) already has strategic alliances with Sikh organisations abroad e.g. Canadian Sikh Coalition and Sikh Youth of America as part of the International Coalition for a Sikh Homeland. In the coming weeks and months the Sikh Federation (UK) and the organisations concerned (in the UK and abroad) will also be announcing where they have decided to have strategic alliances, whilst maintaining their own independent identity and focus of their own aims and objectives. Any organisations that would like to work with the Sikh Federation (UK) are encouraged to contact the Federation - some are laready involved in discussions. The Sikh Federation (UK) believe this is a really posiive and constructive way to involve like-minded youth and allow organisations to work together where possible.

  17. This is the most disgusting thing SGPC has done by white washing this. Gurdwara pakke hogaye te Sikh kache. What's the point of putting marble everywhere? It's the most impractical thing for Punjab. In cold it gets more cold and in summer it gets hotter? Mitti or good brick is great and can be made to look even more beautiful than marble can... 19. SheikFareed ji, you've got the right idea there. It is more of a relaxed neck !! You probably thinking it is already relaxed because you're not putting any effort in keeping it upright. Well, that's because we have become conditioned to keeping it up without realising. All the muscles are engaged in the neck when upright so as to keep it balanced. After someone breaks their neck, then it just rolls down and they have to retrain other muscles to keep it upright- we are lucky because we do it with out any forced effort. Just think of when a baby is growing in the first 4-6 months, it can't control it's neck at all. Even when seated upright the neck drops, but slowly it conditions to keeping it straight without effort. -You see, quite easy. Now, when doing simran and in samadhi fo example, the person is much more attuned into the consciousness and then the brain and mind attachment gets weaker. At these stages then the involuntary automatic muscles begin to switch off and your neck droops or reclines. In simran the battle is on with the mind, brain and consciousness. The consciuosness tries to free itself and detach whilst the mind will keep pumping thoughts and signals to the brain to get a reaction by trying to distract. However, if you can train yourself to NOT respond to the thoughts or signals and simply ignore them, then the brain activity starts to diminish and the conscious gets more detached from the brain and mind whilst you get into deeper simran and samadhi. This is all with the grace of the guru that it happens, although people try to look at it scientifically. The ability to do it can not be obtained scientifically, it's ALL his doing.

  22. Brar says foreign govt's. are supporting terrorist cells abroad. Is he out of his mind??? Or does he consider people peacefully protesting, against India's failure to deliver justice to the Sikhs over the past 28 years, to be terrorists? He says that foreign countries have very liberal laws, but they have to crack down on these people. Brar, in real democracies, we have something called freedom of speech and the right to peacefully protest. In civilized countries, they allow you to have a voice, and don't arrest you for speaking up. India is not the world's largest democracy. It is the world's largest hypocrisy. Kishori lal has been pardoned. He went on a killing spree against innocent Sikhs in 1984, earning him the nickname "Butcher of Trilokpuri". Meanwhile, they are trying to give Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana the death penalty, even though he didn't kill anyone. He was just an accomplice. Sikhs will not accept this double standard, which has existed since the inception of India, in 1947.

However, at times they do not do complete justice to the gems and priceless secrets of knowledge that Gurbani contains. A lot of further extensive study and research needs to be done, and what I have presented here is only the tip of the iceberg. I came across several other references towards scientific facts that the Guru Sahibaan blessed us with centuries ago and which science is discovering only today. Indeed, Sikhi doesn't need to be consistent with science, but in fact science today is attempting to be in accordance with Gurbani.

The website should be prosecuted under trade descriptions act! First Islam -Sikhism initative! Load of *mod edit*. It is a truely one sided missionary website which attempts to declare supremacy of one faith over the other. I thought wow it will help join people of both faiths but it didn't. Just trying to convert people, if they want to I have no probs. But don't hate and disregard others believes. EDIT: My bad, just read it back, how contradictory - Sorry I just disregarded theres. But if someone wants me to elaborate more and justify my statement, I will do. Rationally, think about it and try to understand my angle. Please just view my other post in all forums, I do not oppose Islam. I love mankind and hate on nowone just because of their faith. Just in case anyone thinks I do.

  27. This is in reply to the article 'PROJECT NAAD DEFENCE OF KARMA' islam-sikhism rebuttal: Blue Reply: Black In Islam, the suffering of the child is not due to previous sins. On the contrary, it occurs due to factors external to it and beyond its control by the decree of Allah. It cannot be said that the child is being punished since punishment is only meted out upon the one who commits sins and transgressions. As for the suffering of a child then this could either be due to punishment meted out upon others with whom it is associated to, e.g. parent's being punished for their transgressions and evil deeds, the consequences of which directly affect the child, or Allah is testing the parents to see how they will react in the face of their child's suffering. In both cases the child is considered innocent from any personal blame. Author is right in saying that such situation is a test for parents. Sikhism doesn't reject this idea. But there must be some reason from child's side that why certain children die soon after they are born. Also if everybody gets the test that baby got (i.e. everybody starts dying after being born) then everybody will go to heaven which will be good for all of us. So why everybody is not given the test that baby got? Also, do muslims sincerely think that baby was even tested by God? If answer is yes then muslims should explain how he was tested. If answer is no then isn't this injustice that God is sending somebody straight to heaven without even testing him/her? "And we never punish until we have sent a Messenger (to give warning). (Quran 17:15-16) So if a mass murderer is not sent a messenger then he will go to heaven or if a rapist is not sent a messenger then he will not be punished. So a mass murderer is going to heaven according to Islam. Islam's reasoning in relation to the creator's relationship with his creation is so much more sublime, straightforward and befitting the majesty of Allah. Firstly, the relationship between suffering and social status and class is arbitrary and relative since a pauper may not necessarily consider it suffering to live a life of struggle and toil as a rich man would. And the case could be argued by a pauper, and perhaps even acknowledged by the rich, that possessing greater material possessions brings greater stress, worry and other problems that the poor would not "suffer" from. In that case also, it is unjust that somebody is born in a rich family and somebody in a poor family because person born in poor family would be at advantage. If initial conditions are same (past deeds don't matter), then tests should also be the same otherwise it's injustice.

  28. http://www.islamawar...m/convince.html Theres counter arguments here http://www.whyichosesikhism.com/?p=sic Be aware of Al-Taquia the concept which allows Muslims to lie. The prophet Muhammad married a 6yr old had sex with her when she was 9. The quran tells muslims its ok to have sex with your slaves. It promotes abudction, murder, fighting, killing. shariah law is proof of this. There is many calls for Muslims to go and convert women, go to your local SAS talk sikh awareness society.

  30. VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA, VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH "Khalsa soi jo kare nit jang' - what can we do...it's in our blood to fight, be it words, swords, guns or puns... I mean if you just wanted the argument killed in one link: http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20100222/wl_sthasia_afp/pakistanunrestnorthwestminority But as usual, Sikh Panth is under attack from all sides from all peoples by all means - physically, mentally, socially and spiritually. Said HE You Alone Would Stand Out Amongst Countless, Gave You a Royal Name, A Royal Dress That Does Impress. Made You A Part of the Khalsa He Did, Made You Into Precious Gold, Raised You From The Dead He Did, Made You Into Saintly Bold. Everybody Hates You Cause They Can't Be You, They is Jealous, Fuming, Boiling, Scheming Too. They Torture, Maim, Rape, Kill, Flay And Behead, We Rise Up, Stand Tall, Conquer Them Instead. That's The Way It Was, That's The Way It Is, The Way Of The Khalsa - Soldiers In Bliss. :6 :6 :6
