  3. Veer at least he is doing something. Many of us including myself become internet warriors but can't make an impact in reality. I keep saying this over and over and over again on Sikh Sangat, I sound like a broken record but PLEASE FELLOW SIKHS LETS LOSE OUR HOLIER THAN THOU ATTITUDE!!! Just because you are a gursikh and he isn't, doesn't mean he has a dirty mouth. Who are we to judge someone else? Only Guru Ji can judge others. Who knows maybe we have loads of more avgun than someone else. Let Dharam Raj do the job not us.

  5. Harbhajan Singh is criticizing something that effects the whole society. Jasdeepsingh2k125 is criticizing an individual which honestly doesn't impact our roots or culture. Honestly veer, ok if after being on SikhSangat you've seen me throw the word judgement around, its because I see a lot of intolerance sometimes. It feels like we have to criticize everything posted on here. Why not just realize that ok he made a video tried to do something good thats it leave it at that and continue on with our day. I've been on Sikhsangat for many years also this isn't my only account I had another account before this one so I've read many of your posts too in the past and a lot of them I agree with and a lot of your posts I disagree with, but overall I still respect you as a poster. Yes he does mention that singers should sing about Baba Deep Singh Ji or the Sahibzaade. It just means that he respects the sacrifices Baba Ji made and the Sahibzaade made. He doesn't have to be a pooran Gursikh in order to do that. I am not a Harbhajan Singh fan nor do I know or care about his personal life. I don't know who he is dating or what he does because I honestly could care less about all of that. I just came across this video on youtube and I really liked it. I wanted to post it on here because we usually discuss Punjabi music and the vulgarity of some of it very often. I think we aren't looking at the bigger picture here and we are just nitpicking about silly irrelevant issues. Lets watch the video, enjoy it, and move on.

  6. We look like idiots in front of everyone if we were seriously fighting over a picture. I agree some of these pictures can be inspirational, and If I was in the UK and attended that gurudwara i would be sad to see it go down. but it's ridiculous if this escalated to the point where the police had to be involved.

  16. Who needs enemies when................well you all know the rest. We've come to a breaking point. All this talk of panthic unity is all a farce. We're too far gone to accept/compromise for the betterment of the panth. It's all about me and my party and nothing else. Once some committe members approached Baba Isher Singh Ji Kaleranwale and asked for help in resolving disputes between the different parties. Baba ji's reply was, 'Remove the golak and all your problems will go away" We're being attacked from within and without. But all these false leaders and their chelas will ultimately be defeated. Yes, many sacrifices will have to be made, but without a doubt, the true sons and daughters of Dhan Dhan Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj will be victorious. All these egostical, faithless melogmanics will get there just rewards. Because the biggest sin you can make is to doubt your Guru but these narakvasis don't release this until it's too late. The other day I heard how much sharda pooran Sikhs have. I heard that Bhai Pinderpal Singh ji was once asked about certain Banis and he replied , 'may my throat be slit if I doubt any of Guru ji's Bani.' Whereas, these faithless masands think they know better than Guruji. A time will come when Gurdwaras will be in the hands of shardavan Sikhs. Those with the panth as their priority and not their own pockets. This is a certainty, just a matter of time. WaheGuru Ji Ka Khalsa! WaheGuru Ji Ki Fateh!

  20. right now there is no clear cut way bro ppl have been trying to figure it out but no one has got it right so far hopefully in the future someone will discover the secrets. That being said modern damascus the stuff my kirpans are made of and what ricfurrers is making is still high end steel even for modern steel. Thanks to their unique forging process, Damascus blades are some of the strongest available. Best of both worlds. There are two main types of steel, each with their advantages and disadvantages. Carbon steel is easier to sharpen but prone to rust and must be treated with silicon wax to withstand the elements. Stainless steel, on the other hand, resists rust but is harder to sharpen. By uniquely combining these two metals, some Damascus knives offer the durability of its stainless steel outer core and the fine cutting edge of its carbon steel inner core. Unique blade. Let’s face it: Even the most pragmatic person enjoys the aesthetic value of a quality kirpan. The wavy water-like pattern on the blade of a Damascus knife makes each one unique and something of a work of art. that what i put on my site info on damscus for ppl who dont really know what it is, with out really going into too much technical info.

  23. When you have this much descriptive praise for Guru Gobind Singh Jee, these is really no need left to put the word 'Dev' in there. Simply saying "Guru Gobind SIngh" says it all :smile2: . 1. http://www.searchgurbani.com/amrit_keertan/shabad/2124/sathigur_purakh_aganm_hai_niravair_nirala/line/8 2. http://www.searchgurbani.com/amrit_keertan/shabad/850/har_suuche_thukhuth_ruchaaei-aa_sath_sungath_melaa_u/line/14 3. http://www.searchgurbani.com/amrit_keertan/shabad/1880/praan_meeth_purumaathumaa_purukhothum_pooraa_u/line/4 4. http://www.searchgurbani.com/amrit_keertan/shabad/1797/ouh_gur_gobindh_hue_prugati-aa_dhusuve_avuthaaraa_u/line/7 5. http://www.searchgurbani.com/amrit_keertan/shabad/695/gurubur_akaal_ke_hukum_so_oupajiou_bigi-aanaa_u/line/44 6. http://www.searchgurbani.com/amrit_keertan/shabad/968/jaage_singh_buluvunth_beer_subh_dhusut_khupaaee_u/line/10 7. http://www.searchgurbani.com/amrit_keertan/shabad/1738/nij_futhe_bulaa-ee_sathiguroo_keeno_oujee-aaraa_u/line/11 8. http://www.searchgurbani.com/amrit_keertan/shabad/2468/vehi_oupajiou_chelaa_murudh_kaa_murudhaan_sudhaaee_u/line/25 9. http://www.searchgurbani.com/amrit_keertan/shabad/1785/ouankaar_akaar_aap_hai_hosee_bhee_aapai/line/19 10. http://www.searchgurbani.com/amrit_keertan/shabad/1721/naasuro_munusoor_gur_gobindh_singh/line/1

  25. I don't know why you put "Sahib" in bold, as if you are trying to prove some point that 'Sahib' is "correct". Let me explain some more. Look at what Dilgeer wrote: That whole sentence is hypocritical and wrong. Sri/Shri is very much accepted. You will find it used at MANY PLACES throughout Sikh literature/scriptures. The following alone is over 90 references from Guru Granth Sahib Jee. Don't even get me started on references from Bhai Gurdas Jee, Dasam Granth, Sarbloh Granth, and other literature/scriptures. Please read these 90+ references to get a full understanding of how totally wrong "Dr." Dilgeer is and how manipulative his article is in terms of taking advantage of those who do not research and explore Sikhi fully. It is very hypocritical to keep on promoting "Sahib" while saying Shri/Shri, Dev, Deo, Dhan, Baba, Jee, Jeeo, Maharaj, etc are wrong. They are not wrong. They are all acceptable. Let's stop being anti-sanscrit, anti-hindi, anti-brij language, etc etc etc. Just because many words have a Hindu/Hinduism background doesn't make those words wrong or bad in any way. Let's keep an open mind, unlike Dilgeer. 29. Remind me not to fall on hard times with some of you around as support! :blink2: I don't agree with the boyfriend / girlfriend bakwaas, but if she has found herself in a situation with the guy, then the least she can do is try to help him to relinquish the bottle. Or am I underestimating the pyaar between a man and his drink? If not, then why exactly was the relationship entered into in the beginning? Was it only to be there for each other during the good times? I suggests she leaves the relationship with her head held high if she has found herself in this mess.

  30. A true sant does his own kirat kamaee..ie..works for his own roti (kirat karna). The word sant in gurbani is used for the humble slave, the gurmukh, the bhagat, the pure being, the mool, brahm gyan, atam gyan...... But the commercial sant rarely even earns his own honest living. Instead they are free loaders off the sangat donations !! Below is shabad that highlights the importance of earning your own honest dollar and roti.. pana Gi▫ān vihūṇā gāvai gīṯ. The one who lacks spiritual wisdom sings religious songs. Bẖukẖe mulāʼn gẖare masīṯ. 31. Did you even read my first reply on the first page of this thread? Please read it again. Dilgeer is clearly exposed and is lying again and again. Like I said before, Dilgeer just listed a bunch of literature which he knows that no one is going to go and thoroughly read. It is clearly evident from his clever editing of Prof./Principal Sahib Singh Jee's work. Again, I don't think you read what I say or post. All you keep on doing is turning a blind eye and keep on asking questions. You just want people to keep on answering so that at one point they can make a mistake or slip. And at that moment you will jump in to completely discredit that person. Keep it real. Isn't Guru Granth Sahib Jee enough proof for you? http://postimage.org/image/3oq41at7h/ After Guru Granth Sahib Jee, the next ranked piece of literature and Bani is that of Bhai Gurdaas Jee. Forget all of these lists that Dilgeer keeps on making up. Bhai Gurdaas Jee's work is arguably first and foremost after Guru Granth Sahib Jee. http://sikhitothemax...p?ShabadID=6409 http://sikhitothemax...p?ShabadID=6411 http://sikhitothemax...p?ShabadID=5621 http://sikhitothemax...p?ShabadID=5855 http://sikhitothemax...p?ShabadID=5983 http://sikhitothemax...p?ShabadID=6067 http://sikhitothemax...p?ShabadID=6090 http://sikhitothemax...p?ShabadID=5611 http://sikhitothemax...p?ShabadID=6482 It's really simple. Like I said before. Nanak is the name of the body. Guru is the Jot/Thought process/Mindset/Teachings/Way of Life. Hence Guru + Nanak = Guru Nanak. Out of respect we say Jee, Jeeo, Sahib, Dev, Deo, Maharaj, Dhan, Baba, etc... It's such a simple concept, I don't know what is such a big deal? It's a non-issue. Just because Dev has to do with Hindi and Hindus doesn't change/mean anything. If you do a little research you would find out that Guru Nanak Dev Jee was also called MANY OTHER NAMES at the VARIOUS PLACES he went to DURING HIS LIFETIME (so you can throw Dilgeer's big list out of the window). https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B39vxC8IGIWFbTlST1ctX2psdEk/edit?pli=1 Some called him Nanak. Some called him Guru Nanak. Some called him Baba Nanak. Some called him Guru Nanak Dev. Some called him Nanak Deo. Some called him Nanak Shah. Some called him Baba Nanak Shah. Some called him Baba Nanak Shah Fakir/Faqir. Some called him Baba Nanak Fakir/Faqir. Some called him Hazrat Rab Majid Baba Nanak Fakir/Faqir. Some called him Jehangir jaman hind lat abd al majid Nanak meaning "The Lord of the time, resident of India, Nanak – the man of God’. Some called him Pir (Peer). Some called him Hindu Guru Nanak To (Tau) Fakir Balol. Some called him Murshid. Some called him Hazrat Nanak. etc, etc, etc Guru Nanak Dev Jee travelled to many places in his life and was most certainly called by many different names/titles by many different people. If you read my first post you would understand. Hence Dev, Deo, etc. Just because DEV and DEO have a Hindu/Hinduism background/root, does not mean or change anything. Dev and Deo are no different than Sahib. Dilgeer is a hypocrit and a liar who wrote that article to try and advance his agenda. Maybe he should open his eyes first before telling anyone else that theirs' are closed. And maybe you should open your eyes to read/understand the evidence and material I am putting in front of you.

  32. I think it helps to get some background on Kabirji, as this can make the undertstanding some what easier ! Not much is known of Kabir's birth parents, but it is known that he was brought up in a family of Muslim weavers. He was found by a Muslim weaver named Niru and his wife, Nima, in Lehartara, situated in Varanasi. Both Niru and Nima were very poor and illiterate.[7] They adopted the boy and taught him the weaver's trade. It is not known in detail what sort of spiritual training Kabir may have received. He did not become a sadhu nor did he ever abandon worldly life. Kabir chose instead to live the balanced life of a householder and mystic, a tradesman and contemplative. However, his early spiritual training came from Ramananda, who became his guru when Kabir was still a child. There are various versions of how Ramananda came to accept Kabir as his disciple. What all the versions agree is that Kabir tricked Ramananda into giving him a mantra for meditation, which forced him to accept Kabir as his disciple. Kabir's family is believed to have lived in the locality of Kabir Chaura in Varanasi. Kabīr maṭha a maṭha lo cated in the back alleys of Kabir Chaura, celebrates his life and times.[9] Accompanying the property is a house named Nīrūṭīlā which houses Niru and Nima's graves. The house also accommodates students and scholars who live there and study Kabir's work. He was under the wing of Ramanand from a young age, but he actually ended up teaching his master gurmat. Kabir could clearly see the empty practices that were being done and controlled by the so called 'enlightened' !! 1) In Gurbani, it is clear that Bhagat Kabir spend whole his life in Shivpuri(Kashi,Banaras), and when he grow old, during end days of life he spend his life in Maghar(Uttar Pardesh). Kabir said that he wasted his whole life in benaras and during that tenure he wrote Bijak too. He was not able to find Gurmat their but in Maghar he found Gurmat probably in Company of Saints 2) From Gurbani, it also clears that the lifetime he spent in Kashi wasted in penance and meditation which was of no use. He even said that Saints of Benaras are Hypocrites. They actually tangled in Maya(Temporal) and forget the name of god which he able to find at Maghar

  35. If i am judging your question right, things do change in this world there is improvement in technology and some feel there is fall in moral values and character of society. Change is unchanged phenomenon. But one thing is static in nature, that is creator i.e. he doesn't change with time. Baani of Guru Granth Sahib says one thing that if you want to meet God, you need to be Like God i.e. he is pure and truth and you should be pure and truth. Everything that is being discovered by science is always present, we are exploring it and giving definations like big bang, law of gravity. Religion in sikhism is about high moral values and living in a way that you feel god like blood in veins. Its my thought people differ in their approach.

  36. Care to share how it's not? :O I'd take your word for it, but I'd like to know why. I think people have a habit of making certain things more mythical when in reality they are not so out of reach than they really are. Just like the katana, it's an amazing blade and takes incredible skill to make, but a European high quality blade could compete with it. The process isn't exactly the same and even in the old days each sword smith had a unique way of making their sword and even further no one swordsmith made an identical sword. Each sword varied based on many factors. What is your basis to say this isn't wootz? RicFurrer has a chemistry degree and his life is dedicated to metallurgy.

  40. A great movie, I loved it and shared it, even more poignant when I learnt it was based on KPS Gill. But I do think that overall, KPS Gill has a fat bank balance and a cushy life planned for himself in India. Him and all the other <banned word filter activated> of 1984 and since. Hoping for regret from them after they benefitted in every way from sucking the blood of our panth is a waste, they need delivering to Gurus darbar.

  41. "That'll be 5 lakh up-front, and 1 lakh each year for the rest of your life for.... erm... an Akhand Paat... yes... an Akhand Paat or the child will not remain in good health". True story. Same here. Personally - therefore don't take this as the truth - I think the Gursikh gentleman at the end of the road, raising his children in the Sikh way, working a 9 to 5 job to provide for his family, teaching his children about Sikhi and Sikhi history, ensuring Gurbani is the focus of everything in his life, as he lives with honour and respect whilst the world around him severely lacks these qualities, is the person with saintly qualities and is the kind of individual we should view as a sant in this modern-day world. Seeking out a dera packed full of luxury cars in the hope of meeting a Baba who only emerges to meet you when his followers tell him what kind of car you've arrived in (and by extension an indication of your status and how much you can fill his coffers) is not the kind of sant Guru Ji was referring to. Like you I'm afraid I don't know anyone who can point me in the direction of a saint in the classical sense of the word. Guess that's my karams at work! :biggrin2: Those fortunate enough to know the decent and honourable sants and mahapurashs' are very lucky.

  43. For some people I think it's not just about something as straight-forward as seeking translations or clarifications of tuks. I think N30Singh Ji explains it rather well. Uncynically, I think Guru Arjan Dev Ji encourages us to seek the company of saints at the end of Kirtain Sohila as well as a complete Asthpadi venerating the qualities of a saint in Sukhmani Sahib. It's the "Nanak daas eho sukh mange, mokho kar santan ki dhure" if I remember the final lines of Kirtain Sohila correctly. It's about being in the presence of these elevated individuals in the hope they can guide you towards goodness, and some of their inate gyan and knowledge can rub-off on the individual. That's the theory at least. In reality some people begin to view Sants as some kind of miracle-doers or fortune-tellers who can provide them with the necessary tools to get on in the world, i.e. "Baba Ji, give me a son" or "Baba Ji, mere kam-baar de vich taruki hove" etc. That's when things go awry in my opinion. Of course, the hardcore Brahmgianis don't entertain such low-level, maya-infused demands from anyone. They get you on the path to Waheguru, and to hell with your personal desires.

  44. This is good topic, but the issue is not that clear cut. I wouldn't say real sants are dividing the sangat but rather their chelas who are causing a problem and dividing the sangat. Over zealous chelas are big problem not just limited to sikhi but everywhere. I would go as far as saying out of 100%, 25-30% sant followers understood purpose or role of sant in one's life which is attach you with sargun (partakh roop of sri guru granth sahib ji), shabad, nirgun aspect of vahiguroo ji, get motivated/inspired to do bhagti and actually do bhagti, contemplate on gurbani and they actually understand the real purpose of sant is to ultimately actually show you the mirror of your own true self, those 25-30% a take real laha of sadh sangat/mahapursh sangat and rest 70-75% sant followers have lost the plot somewhat- some are genuinely stuck in bhamal busa (overboard overblown exaggerated personality worship/semantics/technalities) and some have became outright hostile over zealous chelas like jevoh witness. Read this for more info http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php?/topic/69848-individual-cultish-perception-and-the-khalsa-panth/ I know its very hard to define role of sant theoratically speaking but each one of sant/bhai/jathedar/gyani "followers" (including me) need to come in terms within themselves honestly and find out- According to gurbani and gurmat, whats the purpose of doing sangat of sant/mahapursh/bhramgyani ? what does gurbani say about it? Are we going to do sangat of sant to clear the doubts/sansa's of one self, to improve one state of mind/peace of mind, do satkar or sadh sangat seva to help kill our ego? or we just want to fit in to show off get power, hide our own insecurity/inferiority complex behind them and use them as token gestures? or we want to quick kick of an bliss in their sangat perhaps looking for easy way out-bhramgyan on silver plate?? Just like in class, there are various many students who is learning, some are a+ grade some are time wasters, some are quick learners, for some it takes time to learn, some misinterpret their teachers, just like in spiritual school- we also have different students at different different state, some are a+ grade some are time wasters, some are quick learners, for some it takes time to learn, some misinterpret their teachers (famous sakhi of mahatam buddha student asking him where is god? mahatama ji smiled some grade 1 chelas took his smile and interpreted as - there is no god), just like there are many different types of students in gurmat as well. http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php?/topic/70060-three-types-of-students-according-to-gurmat/ There is no hard or fast rule in this. There are some blessed souls who don't need middle men all the way to go fwd on sikhi path but at the same time there are many depending on the karam of an individual as its all relative- many needs small guidance within gurbani, there are many who just needs a small spike/reality check (even great bhai vir singh ji had to sangat of mahapursh to clear one of his doubts), there are many who need to get their doubts/sansa's cleared and there are many people who need sangat of mahapursh to clear all kinds of theological/ontological/subtle road blocks in one's life to go fwd towards sikhi, there are many who need reality check slaps right left and center to come back to basic of sikh or path of sikhi. Thats why gurbani emphasizes greatly on sadh/sant/bhramgyani mahapursh sangat. Sadh sangat is encouraged in Gurmat, society of saints/sant (all of sants mentioned or samparda's/jatha does so) that should inspire us to do bhagti, read gurbani, contemplate on it , do simran on our own, self-reflect, do khoj/research if it does not may be something wrong with our individual perception/mindset at the first place. The problem is there are many followers of sant/bhai sahib/jathehdar do have common human tendacy to focus on messenger as opposed to message (don't get me wrong due satkar should be given but also need to have right balance not this sheer overboard overblown exaggerated personality worship/ idiolizing mahapursh semantics and technalities rather than looking at the essence behind of things. Message is more important than messenger as messenger themselves put shabad, sargun, nirgun divinity as paramount....perception of individual focus on messenger as opposed to message needs to be addressed... please see sant jawala singh ji harkhowal updesh to janak singh regarding contemplation of shabad, helping janak singh moving fwd in his own spiritual journey http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php?/topic/63528-sant-baba-jawala-singh-harkowahals-updesh-about-dyhaan-to-janak-singh-ji/ Now coming back to what dhunda has done is simple knee je rk reaction approach of khandan mandan everything and anything as opposed to looking at the issue more deeply. Whilst, his intent regarding bring everyone together may be right but with that being said he is cleary out of depth as there is nothing wrong with sant sangat but everything wrong with many over zealous chelas perception...he should be targetting over zealous cultish perception of people rather than actual sants..!!
