  2. WJKK WJKF I wrote this story a while back in a post but no one seemed to reply so I thought id make a topic. A few years back I was at a Gurdwara and there was one of the Sangat telling stories about Punjab, and about the amount of blood shed in Punjab from the times of our Gurus until now. He then told a story, which was from a few years back from Punjab. Im a bit sketchy on all the details as it was a few years back so please forgive me. In a Pind in Punjab, there was a tree which locals said gave a errie feeling when you go past it. They ask a Baba why this is. He explained that they should dig the ground where they tree is. The villages did and they found a bag full of human bones. They asked the Baba about this and he replied that these bones belonged to Sikhs who were fighting Mughals during Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji Maharajas’ time. The Mughals put the bones in a bag and left them. He told the Singhs to take the bones to a nearby village (I forgotten the reason why). The Singhs then preceded to the village, and went through a forest. Whilst walking, they heard a noise behind them and saw a Beautiful tall Singh dressed in white Bana. The Singh asked them if they have the bones of the soliders, to which they replied yes, and the Singh then said that he will take them. The group agreed and went into the opposite direction to the Singh. As soon as they turned around to see him again, he was gone. They went back to the Baba and explained the situation, the Baba said that When God wants to he will do it himself, and exaplined that it was Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji Maharaj who they saw and who took the remains of the Sikh soldiers with him. Has anyone heard of this story, or has the full story. Does anyone have any other stories like this? Phul Chuk Maff if I have made any mistakes at all. WJKK WJKF

  3. I wouldn't say it is wrong but it's a very christianised/westernised way of doing things. When my sister got married, they did the marriage certificate and the ring thing in a small room before the lavan. It wasn't given any importance over and above the lavan.

  6. I think a lot of these so called Sikh converts to other religions who maintain their Sikh Saroop do so because they are persuaded by the other religion's preachers to do that. What does the converted Sikh get? Limelight. Thats what they want. As a Sikh, nobody paid much attention to them. Now as a converted Sikh, they are brought on stages to give lectures. If you closely observe, these people want public attention, and they will do whatever it takes. Its kind of psychiatric disorder.

  7. From general context i think what 'Being spiritual not religious' means is that person adhering to actual essence - universal teaching such as (being good human being, not harm yourself and others, be compassionate and help others, make conscious decisions based on the real self not egoistic mind, love life, love energy/god, creation and meditate) person adhering to universal teaching which comes as 2nd human nature than adhering to religious rituals/beliefs which can be and have easily turned into dogma and once its turned into dogma- zealots and fascism/fascist are born. I think spirituality also means believe in own's experience (actually walking the path and expereincing things yourself through meditation) than believing in somebody else experience. From Sikhi philosophy context, dharam and spirituality are one. However, it may not appear so as many sikhs wrap their head around very valid rituals..however turn them into dogma or dogmatic notions for eg- looking at clock when one is doing the nitneem/how fast it can be wrapped up instead of connecting to gurbani flow then and slowly connect to gurbani flow every day/every moment. Being sikh spiritual would be after taking amrit- one who has taken deep dive in gurbani totally inside one self and living gurbani every moment and religious person would be confining guru sahib just like muslims into panj nawaza, performing panj nawaza as duty be done with it do whatever afterwards, rather than purifying the mind (following suanan, manan, nidashan sidhant in japji sahib). An example of sikh religious and sikh spiritual/gyan i can think of an sakhi of bhramgyani how once interrupted an sikh who was influenced by dogma who reciting japji sahib so fast to the point where each word being recited was being over lapped into each other, one cannot undestand let alone comprehend. gyani ji sat him down held his hand- gyani ji just said ikongkar and with help of bhramgyan, this newly religious men- they both went in transcendental meditation for hours and came back. Religious person confines guru sahib into gurdwara only whereas gyani/spiritual person see guru maharaj as ikongkar in all three forms as guru maharaj clearly said (to bhai nand lal) i have three saroops- sargun(creator is in creation), nirgun and shabad yet one (ikongkar)..Religious person, limit meaning of gurmukh (based on their own interpertation) , rest of all manmukhs deserve hell rather beleive in broader defination of gurmukh one who has conquered 5 chors (kaam, krodh, lob, moh, ahankar) and rest of all of us including amrit dharis who have not conquered 5 chors are manmukhs. I won't say much as it may offend others but last thing i would say- just do sehaj patt of japji sahib and sri akaal ustat sahib and go deep into it, it will destroy all the dogmatic notions/road blocks one has created for themselves..i can say after reading and contemplating on japji sahib and sri akaal ustat...all my other pre conceived notions are cleared. Also in soraj parkash granth there is parsang but once - sikhs did benti to sri guru gobind singh ji by saying- we have been reciting gurbani every day for long hours- how come its not bringing change compare to other singhs. Guru maharaj addresses to sangat. Gurbani is like a medicine. Patient need to take medicine inside before it could do its effect. Those who have complaints blame yourself because you are actually not taking gurbani as medicine inside but rather doing gargles of medicine and spiting out. Hence, having no effect.!! Gurbani is like liquid medicine, it will only take effect when patient takes mediciation fully inside not just gargle the medicine and spit it out. We have moral duty to discourage that kind of religious dogmatic mindset or mentality crept into our panth. Path of Sikhi is double edge sword, very very slipperly slope and have many land marks, if landmarks are not perceived in right manner or in contex of development stages that could itself become a road block, anything and everything could be road block. Basically, flow of human consciousness connected with gurbani in sikhi should be spontaneous and natural and fluid as very nature of gurbani In layman terms, be honest with yourself.. if you cannot witness your human consciousness progressing- diving in dephtness of gurbani and start having sat gun attributes listed above naturally and naturally rising above from panj chor while doing nitnem or following any maryada for that matter than there is a big problem.... not with the ritual itself but with your perception itself while you are engaging in maryada..there is a big problem..get up from asan, drop everything (i meant not literally) yeah drop everything, go humbly to dhan dhan dhan sri guru granth sahib to ardas and take hukamnama, if its meant to be- guru maharaj himself will destroy all the doubts inside you, free you from shackles from idiolized form of shariat one themselves are created and is now an trap..!!

  8. Veerji, when pointing a finger towards others, first look at the 3 fingers pointing towards ourselves. What are we doing other than blaming others for not doing anything. All Sikhs do today are complain and blame others. This type of thinking is not productive nor required. We need a proactive mindset. Daswand needs to be sent towards Shaheed Pariwars, Parchar of Sikhi(like in MP, Sikligars). Educate our relatives, friends about Sikhi, 84

  9. https://twitter.com/Gaysikh check this account, and see how this individual is trying to promote gayism amoung the worldwide Sikh community on twitter. And even promoting other Sikhs to become gays. You can read how some so called Sikhs are all for gayness and want to "come out". Already Sikh community is targetted by many anti-sikh forces trying to undermine the faith and next generation (from pedo muslim grooming gangs and extremists, western culterial atheist secularist extremists, hindu indian rss shiva sena extremists, ravidassia secterian extremists) and now you have these gays who are trying to confuse the next generation. Where there is a high population of gays the birthrate of that nation and community goes down. This is why the west has promoted gays and removed the ban from homosexuality whereas if you look at nations like russia they have banned most homosexual promotion activity because they have a declining birth rate which threatens their future workforce and population. So should sikhs keep quite and allow these people destroy our faith and community overtly and covertly or should we stand up against it?

  10. Countries consuming the most milk products also have the highest rates of degenerating bone disease (like osteoporosis), heart disease, breast cancer, allergies, diabetes and multiple sclerosis. The United States consumes more dairy than the rest of the world put together and yet has the highest levels of osteoporosis and weak bones in the world. Milk does NOT put calcium in our bones- it does the opposite- it PULLS calcium from our bones making them weak, soft and brittle. Why ? Because dairy products are acidic to our body, which forces our body to protect itself by pulling alkaline minerals from wherever it can get it- namely our bones- to neutralize the acids. This ironically leads to calcium deficiency. Cow's milk is not the same as human milk. The calcium in cows milk or cheese is not the same as calcium from organic plant sources like leafy greens (that's where cows get their calcium !) Milk and cheese are the leading cause of arthritis, constipation, allergies, asthma, colic, sinus issues, heart disease, ovarian problems, anemia, insulin-dependent diabetes, cataracts, obesity, congestion, lung problems and even cancer. It has been directly linked to heart attacks and stroke. When people are autopsied, they cut open the heart and all this white thick goo pours out... gues what it is ? Calcium plaque ! That's like trying to use cement instead of oil in your car's engine. Dairy creates mucus which clogs up our intestines, lungs and reproductive systems, overloading them with slimy mucus that smothers our cells so they can't breathe. When white spots start appearing on different parts of the body, it means fat and mucus has spread throughout the respiratory and reproductive systems. Hormonal imbalances often result, including thyroid, pancreatic and gonad functions. This condition results in cysts and tumors, eventually leading to cancer, expecially breast, colon and reproductive areas. All animal products lead to fat and cholesterol deposits in the arteries and heart, lining them with a white thick pasty cement made of inorganic calcium. Nothing clogs up your intestines faster than cheese and dairy. It is glue. Cows milk contains higher levels of saturated fat than human milk, meaning cholesterol buildup and blood circulation problems in babies and adults. Too much bad unusable calcium is actually the real cause of osteoporosis. Milk and cheese is one reason more women are dying today of heart problems and cancer than ever before. People have all kinds of inorganic calcium clogging up their bodies and hardly any good absorbable calcium. If you think cheese isn't an addictive substance, try and separate a woman from cheese. Pasteurizing milk (boiling at high temperature) kills the enzymes, so the milk cannot be properly digested. The pancreas can't replace these missing , so here comes diabetes. Homogenizing milk makes fat particles so tiny they go through the intestinal mucus, directly into the bloodstream where they become an alien substance ( like hydrogenated oils or margarine) that he body doesn't know what to do with, it so it accumulates in the arteries, joints, heart and other organs. Pasteurized milk is dead food. Calves (baby cows) fed pasteurized milk normally die after 8 weeks ! Even if you drank it raw, you wouldn't want to. Most cows are sick and diseased. They are milked by a machine causing blood and pus to be in the milk. When a human drinks milk, only half of the protein is used, the rest becomes foreign protein in the body... and foreign proteins are the number one cause of all disease in humans. It puts a serious strain on the kidneys ( the kidneys of a meat eater or someone who drinks milk or eats cheese) has to work 3 times harder than the kidneys of a vegetarian. They ultimately turn to stone. It's very hard on a baby because the kidneys aren't even fully formed yet. A 12 year Harvard study of 72,000 showed those who drank the most milk (3 or more glasses a day) had more bone fractures than those who drank very little. Where do cows and horses, goats and elephants get calcium ? From grass. Greens have more nutrition than almost anything on the planet. The best way to make greens digestible for humans is to put them in a blender with some fruit. That makes all the nutrients instantly absorbable. Excerpt from HEAL YOURSELF 101 by Markus Rothkranz We don't eat meat because of compassion for animals - then why do we steal milk that was intended for calves ? Also as we all know cows at dairy farms have horrendous living coniditions - why be part of a system that is hurtful ?

  12. I think the above bolded statement is what should be given more consideration here. In the UK and most other countries a formal exchange of vows has to be conducted so that the 'legally' binding document -the certificate of marriage- can be officially issued. No one to my knowledge has ever given this more importance than anand karaj- meaning that they are not to concerned when it happens whether before the anand karaj or after because it does not overlap the anand karaj in any way. They used to only conduct this at the registration office and the witnesses and couple both had to attend at the given time. What happened is that because your witness, which could be brother, sister, uncle, chacha, thyaa..etc... had to be there also then we Indians were forced to invite chachji and kids because chacha would be witness, this leads to forced invitation of all brothers and sisters and then brother in-laws because we Punjabis moan too much if someone invites our brother and excludes us.. Then with all these extra invitations comes extra costs and the usual crap of gifts and blah blah...blah.. (all Mammat actions!) However since the change of registration laws because people like to get married on beaches and parks or other exotic places, the requirement for attending the registration office no longer stands. This has been at advantage for us because they recognize the gurdwara as a suitable area for exchange of vows to be conducted !! In my personal opinion as a Sikh, I actually have the opposite view ! I actually think it is good that the vows be exchanged in the presence of Guruji. I would rather the vows be spoken in the gurdwara than in some registration office or on top of some pub. Saying this we have to remember that NO EXTRA importance is given to this over anand karaj as mentioned by Wickedwarrior above. SO in my opinion it is absolutely acceptable and I welcome it and recommend other new couples don't opt for the register office option.!!!

  13. Of course I'm not proud. Really I would like us all to be law abiding citizens, which most of us in the UK are. This is why we don't get a bad reputation in the media as much as Pakistanis. However saying that we do need people to protect us, because if we don't then we will get rolled over, its a sad reality. If we didn't have any gangsters in Southall and slough then we would have ended up like people in Birmingham, where the youth are bullied and girls pimped. Im not saying as if this doesn't happen in Southall and slough, but its no way as bad as Birmingham. None of these gangs started of like this, it was to protect our community. But now they have to do it by other means, e.g. dealing. I put the word Punjabi in inverted commas, I didn't use the word Sikh because I know they definitely are not and they certainly are not Punjabi, because this is not something our forefathers would be proud of. I have a lot of respect for lawyers and all the people protesting in central London against the atrocities in India. I was just pointing out to the op the difference between north and the south.

  14. Why would anyone want to promote 3HO? This cult has a fake Guru named Yogi Bhajan who has passed away. Being very spiritual means to be conscious. To be conscious a person needs to understand why. Take the OP's partner dilemma. If he was conscious or as he put it very spiritual, then having a partner or not having a partner would not concern him. What would be an issue for him is the fact of uniting the soul with Akal Purakh. However he is stuck on searching for a partner, which he believes will help him strengthen his spirituality. Hence he is looking for a like minded partner. In essence the 5 elements are in control and causing this feeling of emptiness. However, what he ought to be looking for is Satguru as the poster savinderpal singh has posted. The words of Satguru might leave a sour taste in the OP's mouth, but that's just the medicine taking the ego out and replacing it with Satgur Parsad. If a person is spiritual, then why even think about marriage. Ask yourself where marriage has started from? It is a religious practice. And why search for only one marriage partner? Why not two or three? Is the OP conscious after becoming very spiritual by his own methods and ways?

  15. These so-called Sikhs who convert- were they really Sikh to begin with? A true Sikh who realises the essence of Gurbani would never leave Sikhi and adopt another faith.
