  1. I don't think transgenderism was popular during Porus time, it likely came from non-punjabi influence.

  4. For me it's gone beyond that now. I think apneean these days are also likely to be targeted by nonpaks and this might not just be to 'turn them' into hookers and pass around around your family/mates but just to use them sexually. Again, (in my opinion) it's that infantilised mindset, often mixed with hormones and a blatant lack of social intelligence/experience. Fact is that once one community perceives another as a rival or a lesser species, the associated supremacist mindset invariably results in them targeting and abusing any females from the other community that comes to hand. Plus we should acknowledge that we have had a lot of awareness campaigns over the last few decades now. An apnee must be living in cave not to realise this is going on these days.

  5. I can swear there was another thread about this incident. I don't know about desirable, Leicester has a high population of "Illegal" Punjabi's who find it easy to get work in the local factories and building sites, cash in hand, no questions asked. I think the Gurdwara you're on about is Guru Tegh Bahadur Gurdwara, it's where the meeting took place for this incident, it's a Panthic Gurdwara, they do a lot for the youth there now, I know the head of the committee really well, he's a good guy, always doing the best for the local community.

  6. Oh, I don't disagree, we always get comfortable and then every so often something happens that wakes us up. I think there was a little more to what happened here that is being reported but I've only heard it second hand so I'm not going to spread information that may or may not be true, either way, it's hit the local press, it only took them 2 days. https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/news/leicester-news/teens-arrested-after-after-sikh-6847539

  7. I saw this yesterday morning and was heartbroken that this still goes on, i grew up with this kind of stuff in the 80's and hoped people were passed it. @Premi5There are a lot of Sikhs in Leicester but not as many as you would think, the problem is the communities here are still very "self" orientated and don't show support for one another when this kind of thing happens, so far no one from the Muslin community has come out and condemned what has happened, they'll only do it when the local newspaper get's hold of it. There was a really good turn out at the Gurdwara in support of these 3 young Singhs, the police have arrested 3 of the idiots that did this (they've been released on bail), the school they go to is part of a larger academy who run 3 schools in Leicester, my daughters go to one of them (not the same one), they'll be a lot of emails, letter's and phone calls going to the academy from parents this with asking them to explain how they allow this kind of thing to go on.

  8. I don't think that is a fair comment. The site is not aimed at people such as Amritdharis or those with extensive knowledge on Sikhi already. It's for people who want to know the basics of the faith. Mainly non Punjabi/Sikh that want a simple a quick guide to Sikhi without going to deep and phliosophical. If you want a full explanation maybe contact the webmaster. I am just the forum administrator.

  12. Yeah, specific antibodies are what your body produces to combat specific pathogens once it has learnt to identify (usually through recognising antigen structures on the pathogen surface) and destroy them. Once it goes through the process, the immunological system remmebrs the encounter and is able to rapidly reproduce the antibodies if reinfected in future, giving you minor or no symptoms this time. So if we have the antibodies floating around in our plasma, that means we've already been infected, and that the body has learnt to defend itself. How comes so called 'advanced' England is still running around for these tests when others produced them rapidly? What's that saying?

  13. From my understanding about one of the tests is that it tests for antibodies. It doesn't test whether you HAVE covid-19 but if you HAD covid-19.

  14. Nothing is easy unless something is done about it. We had only 200 cases and our PM enforced complete lockdown for 4 weeks. We have done 14 days already and have around 1000 cases and 1 death so far. These confirmed cases were projected to be 5000 now had the lockdown not been in place. We do around 5000 cases a day which is very high per capita population of 5 million. One of my friend's wife in London got COVID 19, was send home after spending a week in hospital and my friend still has not been tested for the virus( he is diabetic too) SHOCKING.

  15. I thinks it's easier with small numbers and a wide distribution of people. I've heard there are more lambs in MZ than humans - I don't know if this is a joke or true though. What's the testing situation out there? What tests are you using? UK is a joke.

  16. My latest thoughts on the coronavirus situation. What is happening with this lockdown is a once in a lifetime event. Work places and schools shut. All stores closed. Gyms banks literally everything we took for granted all closed. This has never happened before and everyone is slowly starting to adjust. We all now to do our bit and stay at home. If we continue to go out we risk catching and most crucially spreading it. Which is very easily done. Even if we maybe able to fight off the infection ourselves vulnerable people cannot. It's going to test relationships and marriages. Usually we only spend limited time together in the house with out relatives and spouses due to being out most of the time at work or socialing. But now we are going to be together 24/7 for about a 4 month period or even longer time depending on the viruses spread. This is inevitably going to causes family relationship strains/arguments. It's already been noted that in China the divorce rate has seen a huge spike upwards. Due to couples couped up together in the lockdowns. My advice to everyone is keep busy even at home. Get back to nature. I'm presuming parks and nature spots are gonna be full as that is the only places people can go to get fresh air and out of the house. People who have gardens and outside place near home are going to be lucky. It's people living in flats with no garden are gonna be the ones that suffer. The rich and wealthy with second homes are going to be escaping to the country sides and go on a prelonged holiday. Which I think is a positive for some who have over worked and need a break. I might also escape to countryside area in an isolated spot to get back in touch with nature seeing as we can't work or do anything else.

  17. I think you should support local business regardless of there background, it's the only way local communities grow, if we choose to just support business's with owners from our own background then communities become fractured.

  18. The way a lot of the public have handled this whole thing in the west is an embarrassment, there were queues of people yesterday evening wanting to get their fix of processed fast food before McDonald's closed there door's for a few week's, this whole thing is a reset button for us all, we've become too reliant of the like's of Amazon and having everything now, we need to step back for a few weeks and take a long hard look at what we've been doing, when we come back from this we should be supporting small business and local economy, not billionaires who couldn't care less about you. Cashless is already here, this virus being spread with hand contact is just another reason that will be used to push it, it's just not as secure as it should be yet.

  20. something bigger is going on, this virus is just a part of the bigger picture. Country is in lockdown, they've got everyone locked in their houses and out of the way. I think the virus is as a small part of the bigger picture which we cant see. Things are not gnna be the same after this virus is over, perhaps we wont notice the changes straight away but massive changes are being made

  21. Do you live alone of something, everyone knows that apnay families buy toilet roll in bulk! We bought ours two weeks ago and have enough for a few months. We bought all the hand sanitiser as well, it was available but rationed to two at Home Bargains a few days ago. A lot of the apnay shops are profiteering like hell. Bhindiyan sabzi which was £ 3 a kilo is now £ 9 a kilo. Stores like Siras and Quality foods are raking in in.

  24. I can't get a hold of loo roll for love nor money for a week now. I turn up early at the various stores before work, and there's nothing. Do they want us to camp out like people do for a new iPhone? tRoll. ? The supply I've got at home is running out. Probably shouldn't have made saag this week... ?

  25. thats so funny haha! it perfectly describes people. especially when some1 coughs! i went savers today to buy essentials just in case, the queue was around 45 mins long! while i was standing in the queue my mum finished buying vegetables at the vegetable stall and it was a lot of veg, crossed over to Tesco and nearly finished her shopping. we could only buy 2 soap products and 2 painkillers. the amount of people running around with loo rolls is hilarious

  32. Okay, I'm posting this video because I'm noticing that a few apnay parents seem to have some sort of 'weight blindness' when it comes to their children (and themselves). This video shows a cat but the principle is still the same. How comes certain parents don't have the intelligence to recognise that they are overfeeding their children (and adjust the food accordingly), when the evidence is right there in front of their eyes? Do some suffer from some sort of strange 'reverse anorexia' where their visual perceptions are distorted to the extent that they look at their morbidly obese kids and see a slim person? Or are they too clueless about biology to realise that the weight can lead to all manner of illnesses?

  33. There certainly will be those who are looking to see how people behave in these times of crisis. We depend too much on the government and they are not always the most efficient. So what are people left to do but take things into their own hands.
