Sat Sri Akal:

Gotta agree with N30 S!NGH Sahib there...stop kissing up to Panthic Dushts. They did the same thing with Prof. Davinderpal Singh Sahib's case...begging from the same house where your murderers live in...not the thing to do. Don't beg from them...if anything, DEMAND it from them...

Spirit of Khalsa...it lives and lives well...it's just some people do not think of the implications of their actions. You want action...take chartered jet(s) to France with ALL Sikhs and block their airports with a protest!!! That oughta give the French people a taste of what they are against...

ahmm ahmmm.. Well.. i have different view point..

Big political govt' like france won't hear the voice of any sikh organization no matter what.. These political ppls only care is personal gain.. Let see.. For example, if indian pm do talk to pres. chirac about this concern and sure chirac will look into this matter more deeply.. BUT if any sikh organization goes to chirac then sure he won't care, cauz he know that it won't matter to them.. cauz they don't have millions dollar of trade or stuff.. So anyway, sometime in these matters sadly some has to depend on parasite..

This is where UK singhs though.. hey why don't we start our own political Party.. and they made it "Sikh federation" etc.. In this matter we need a smart brainy sikhs to tackle this issue more likely thru EU law and regulations.. or maybe luk into UN stuff.. that's my viewpoint...

but in that case as Ms514 said..they shouldn't appel or BEG,, but they should DEMAND ;) @

Sikhs in France seek help on turbans

Law against religious symbols will affect us too: Community leaders

TOM HENEGHAN

PARIS, JANUARY 2: France's tiny Sikh community is seeking help from India’s Prime Minister A.B. Vajpayee to have their traditional turbans exempted from a planned French law to ban Muslim headscarves and other religious symbols from schools.

Chain Singh, spokesman for about 5,000 Sikhs here, said he was contacting the Vajpayee and Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh to ask them to urge Paris to exempt turbans. ‘‘This law will not just be against Muslims, it will be against Sikhs as well,’’ he said. ‘‘We cannot live without our turbans. This is our religion. If we cannot wear them, we may not be able to stay here.’’

Sikh men enjoy exemptions in other European countries, such as one in Britain dropping a requirement to wear a crash helmet when riding a motorcycle.

President Jacques Chirac announced last month that France would soon pass a law banning noticeable religious symbols in its public schools, a move mainly aimed at Muslim schoolgirls who wear headscarves as an Islamic duty.

Muslim, Jewish and Christian leaders in France have all criticised the law but say they will respect it. Singh said he had already contacted the Indian embassy in

Paris and would soon write to Vajpayee and Singh. ‘‘India is responsible for Indians around the world. We want them to talk state-to-state with France.’’

Sikhs might join Muslim groups in protesting against the planned law with a march in Paris on January 17, he added. ‘‘We can join the Muslims and pray for everyone, including Christians who are not supposed to wear big crosses and Jews who will not be able to wear kippas,’’ Singh said.

Singh said Sikh men in France are often refused identity cards because they will not take off their turbans. Some schools have expelled Sikh pupils for wearing turbans but others make no fuss about them, he said.

Most Sikhs in France live in the Paris area, near their Gurdwara Sahib temple north of the capital. Some remain Indian citizens while others have taken French nationality.

Singh said he was shocked to see Paris had overlooked them in the emotional debate over banning Muslim veils.

‘‘There are Sikhs who have died for France,’’ he recalled. Sikhs made up the majority of 4,746 Indian soldiers killed while fighting with the British Army in France in WW I.

The Sikh community in France is tiny compared to the five million Muslims and 600,000 Jews in this traditionally Christian country of 60 million. —(Reuters)

Is it not pathetic dat once again......sikhs hav willingly offered their lives and battled hard 4 a cause which is not their own......yet get stabbed in da back by the very ppl who we helped 2 save.

Thousands of sikhs fought bravely with the allied forces in the western front.....fighting without fear in french battles like Ypres, La Bassée, Neuve, Chapelle, Festubert, Loos, Givenchy and Somme.

Yet our great sacrifices r 4gotten and we end up trying 2 uphold our own values gainst da nation whom we helped to liberate! Chirac and his french gov't need 2 wake up!

I say, we Sikhs organise ourselves and protest......and fight not just 4 da rite to wear our god-given turban......but also 4 every1 2 hav da rite 2 practice their religion freely, regardless of their faith.

Waheguru ji ka khalsa, Waheguru ji ki fateh

This is not an Indira Gandhi Gov, so dont worry about whether they will help or not. Im pretty sure the the government will make some provisions. The appeal cannot go unheard. And the Guru himself protects his Sikhs.

As I look upon this event, there is an important message behind as that will bring more awareness to the public about the Sikh religion. This event will spread news that there are sikhs which wear turban, and they are not part of any terroist group. It will bring more awareness about the sikh religion in France and the world.

If you look at various events and history like this, you will always see something positive happening.
