wahegurujikakhalsawahegurujikifateh!!!!!

are sikhs aware that guru nanak, in his udasian, come as far as africa? a small settlement a hundred miles from kampala, uganda, is named 'Bamu Nanika' which the locals there revere for it's spiritual powers. they say that a holy man, not one of their own, sat on a certain spot there and meditated. the spot is covered in a bark-like material and not shown to anyone. prayers are done in their traditional way. it is also said that all of uganda's kabaka's visited the 'shrine' to receive blessings upon their advent of rule.

the area is arid with no fresh water for miles. but only a few hindred meters away is a small spring of fresh water which the locals do not allow anyone to drink or wash hands with. the water is somehow used like 'giving amrit' to devotees who are all africans.

when asked about who they revere the place for, the locals say that 'he is not one of ours but there is some great spiritual power here'.

a group of gyanis from india visited the shrine to further the discovery. it is even believed that in a sakhi, mardana asked nanak why the locals had curly hair. that faintly suggests nanak's visit to africa.

it is possible and for one to find out more, has to visit the

place. i may be going there myself to do my own research. so far, all we know is that the village's name is 'Bamu Nanika' (Bamu may be a short form of Baba Mungu - Mungu means God in Swahili).

the locals know not who the sikhs are. we are strangers to them but if we can do some research, there is a high possibility of adding africa's name to the places nanak travelled to.

according to Bhai Gurdas Ji, Guru Nanak Dev Ji went to nou khand which means everywhere.

In 1975 In the final months of Baba Ishar Singh Ji Rara Sahib Walae used to go around a park in Wolverhampton in England numerous times reciting bani. After they had done so they would go and sit facing a tree and bow to it.

Many Sikhs had seen this and eventually plucked up the corouge to ask why this was part of their daily routine. Baba Ji stated that whilst in that city Guru Nanak Dev Ji sat under that tree and got shade from it while they prayed.

Unfortunatly many attempts have been made to get the land however the council state it is recreational property and not for sale so it seems to be like talking to a brick wall.

Baba Amar Singh Ji and the late Baba Madhsoodhan Singh Ji have told us that Guru Nanak Dev ji have visited leicester and can show us the spot however we have not persued the matter in case we have the same problem as the sikhs in wolverhampton

I am sure in the cities that you live in Guru Sahib have been there as well

    • This is where the vichola needs to get involved, and family!
    • Hi All, I havent been on this forum for a while but I thought id give it a try again as it helped me through some rough times earlier in my life. I wanted to seek for guidance on sikhi and marriage ... I noticed a post earlier on sanjog etc. and it got me thinking about my own life and marriage. For context, I have been married 3 years and things are not working out. When we met, I looked in to sanjog alot and it felt like it was written. However, as these years have gone by its become apparent that we no longer align with each other and our marriage is struggling. We dont seem to understand each other and things have fallen apart. We are at a stage now where separation/divorce is looking like the best option. Neither of us are happy and whilst we have tried to work things through in many different ways, after 3 years we have drifted away. What are the sikh views on this? is it written if we decide that we no longer serve each other? or is that a sin and should I continue to work at it? my issue at the moment is that it is draining me. I feel withdrawn from everything due to things going on between us including sikhi and going to the gurdwara.  Breaks my heart to even be writing this but I do think if we are both not happy and cant see a way of being happy then what is the point in continuing? Or should I be continuing and is it paap if we dont honour our laavan? if that is the case, what does sikhi say about marriage? how do I continue knowing everyday I feel the way I do?   Thanks

    • I'll use this place as my spiritual journal so if anyone wants to join then feel free to! I'm not sure if this could be classed as an experience but last week (or 2 weeks ago), I felt my saliva to be sweet however I lost it after a week. I don't really regret it though, if I lost it then it's Hukam Another point, I feel my concentration to be very good for a while, I can focus on the void for a longer period of time than I could before. I also feel a lot more Anand, it's all Guru di kirpa
