What Did Sikhs Believe In Before The Creation Of Sikhism?

There were no Sikhs before Guru Nanak Saaheb. Just like there were no Christians before Christ or Buddhist before Buddha.

But Guru Naanak Saaheb has been here right since the beginning, and will always be here.

There always have been sikhs and there always will be.

Sikhs believe in Waheguru. Waheguru has always been here and so have the believers  .

I agree. IMHO people like Bhagat Kabeer Ji were already Sikhs - their thinking was the same as Guru Saheb and had reached an extremely high avastha level. And through this it's possible that they had already met Guru Saheb before the light came here in the vessels of our Gurus.

you can argue it both ways..

Sikhism is quite literally what we call the group of beliefs, practises and concepts that we have. So you could apply the whole "____ existed before ___" thing to any religion technically

People are acknowledged as Sikhs due to the name of the religion (duh tongue.gif ), but obviously there musta been people who shared the same/similiar arguments as us

so reli a sikh is anyone who follows da suggestd lifesytle etc by the rehat maryada (cnt memba soz)

4 Sikhi 2 hav bn created, the ideas had 2 exist alredy,so i gues dat da answr

Everyone believed in religion rituals, worshipping idols, going to special pilgrimages for worship, putting their own religion higher than others.

Our Gurus invented sikhism and told us the importance of satguru, a living God on earth.

Sikh means a servant

Gursikh is servant of True Guru, ok where about does it say in SGGS ji that SGGS is the only satguru? you show me and i will give you my head. Our gurus didnt write SGGS ji so we start worshipping SGGS and reject other human satgurus. They wrote it so we can find the truth and importance of a living satguru.

Now if i tell you, You get mukti when you become God on earth, will you believe me?

You are liberated whilst alive, when you become a living God on earth. You've realised your true self, your ATMAN - Soul is your trueself. Your Soul is God. When You've realised that, you're God.

That is why we say God is in everyone because everyone is God. God is the disciple, God is the guru. So its all god, we shouldnt exist so lets kill yourself (as in ego) and become nothing. When we become nothing, God becomes everything.

Our gurus were here to make us like them. they wanted us to overcome panj chor, desires, ahankaar and realise God and become gurmukhs too. that is why guru gobind singh ji said khalsa is my roop, i meditate on khalsa. Khalsa is the enlightened one, like guru gobind singh ji was. A spirtitually blind cannot be a khalsa. Now God inside me has told has just told you the truth. Now if you want to believe him or not its upto you. God works in mysterious ways. GOD is doer of everything, nothing happens because of us.

Also, God name is Satnaam. not Vaheguroo

Vaheguroo unites us with him. that is why we call him "VAHEGUROOO" wonderful "GU" "RU" who has dispelled the darkness of our mind and showed us LIGHT "SATNAAM - GOD"

so next time you sit to do simran, do satnaam vaheguroo instead of vaheguroo on its own. its good for you, i wont get nothing out of it:D

thanks

ok i've just about had enough of your naamdhari propaganda. so i'll reply with GURBANI this time.

Our Gurus invented sikhism and told us the importance of satguru, a living God on earth.

I would take bhai gurdaas ji's word over yours any day. waheguru is GURMANTR, i say again, gurMANTR, a mantr is meant to be repeated. either waheguru or satnaam vaheguru can be recited. since when did you become the authority on gurbani?

    • The Mind is Jyot Saroop (Waheguru), but the mind is under the influence of five evils… Through Naam Simran( Rememberance), the mind will begin to detach from evil, and get back to its original form ( MANN TU JYOT SAROOP HEH)… Until the mind breaks free from the five evils, one will go through the cycle of paap and punn….which leads to Karma… Naam Simran destroys past karma, and prevents new karma coming into fruition… I did this, I did that… This non realisation of the Jyot Saroop gives rise to paap and Punn, which in turn gives birth to suffering and misery…
    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
