Did The Gurus Have Past Lives?

nah, its true about guru Gobind singh ji maharaj, because they did tapasaea at hemkunt sahib ji.

I have read Dasam Granth and the description of a previous life seems to be metaphorical.

Imagine it like this......Guruji had just created the Khalsa, many still had Hinduways....he was trying to explain new concepts (i.e. Sikh Concepts) in a way they would understand. This being to use Hindu mythology and Hindu metaphors.

An example would be a Japanese person who only understands Japanese culture grammar etc.....initially to teach them about English culture grammar etc you would have to use Japanese concepts.

Well thats my understanding anyway.

yeh, but Gurbani does state that Gurus had previous lives (DasamGuru Granth, SarblohGuru Granth)....even kabir talks about his previous life when he was a disciple of Parmanand (Ang 969)

poorab janam ham tumHray sayvak ab ta-o miti-aa na jaa-ee.

In my past life, I was Your servant; now, I cannot leave You.

tayray du-aarai Dhun sahj kee maathai mayray dagaa-ee. ||2||

The celestial sound current resounds at Your Door. Your insignia is stamped upon my forehead. ||2||

precisely my point...is that not more of a metaphorical refrence........like saying I have always belived in you even before I was born..?

I am happy either way.

If you believe Hindu gods then you have to believe Vedas too and all there literature right.

You cant pick and choose.

Then i will say everything written in Hinduism does not match in sikh principles.

Simple Psychology everyone wants to see Gurus as Magical and very difficult to see them as common people with no magical powers.

See the context is when Guru Arjun Dev jee sit on Tatti tavi the people used to say that the tavi got cold. They are ignorent fools, More qurbani or wisdom is in sitting tatti tavi. Tavi never gets cold as we are ruining their shaheedi.

Same way people say Guru nank dev jee closed there eyes and can cross any distance. What is point they have travelled all such distance on foot. It is there Qurbani.

Similarly i request that people should not ruin the qurbani and determinations of Guru by showing them as magical.

I say most of dasam Granth was written by clever Brahmin.

Most of you have no common sense at all.

I dare i will post one story from dasam Granth and anyone proves it right from context of bani.

I will not post again and never deny dasam Granth.

But admin has to promise not to delete the thread, let it goes for only once and for all.

It is open Challenge to all supporting Dsam Granth. But ask admin first, as it becomes to pornographic that it becomes unsuitable for people below 18.

Regards

<<< If you believe Hindu gods then you have to believe Vedas too and all there literature right. >>>

What you mean by believe in Hindu gods? I know they exist but certainly do not worship them. The Vedas are their philosophy, why would I need to believe in them? The Vedas are their interpretation I do not have to believe in them, the two do not go hand in hand.

<<< Same way people say Guru nank dev jee closed there eyes and can cross any distance. What is point they have travelled all such distance on foot. It is there Qurbani. >>>

So where did Guru Ji go when they disappeared into the river for three days? How did they reach satchkhand? Was that all a myth also?

What happened when Bhai Bidhi Chand took Guru Ji’s name and jumped into the furnace? Was that all heresay?

<<< I say most of dasam Granth was written by clever Brahmin. >>>

Then you do not have faith in your Guru, only take what appeals to your intellect and discard the rest, because your Bhuddhi says so.

<<< Most of you have no common sense at all. >> No we have Guru Sense.

LOL, back to Charitra Pukhyian again eh? You guys can never get over the Kaam, you read one line and get stuck there and then, you cannot pass, that is your bhuddi. Guru Ji was beyond all this and showed how it is, it is our manmukh thoughts that cannot accept this. So you post it so what? You think you can dissuade me from Dasam Granth Ji, I think not.

No, you can't post it. According to Sree Akaal Takht Saaheb, no discussion on it is allowed.

okay no posting on discussion od dasam granth veer g sat vachan

Okay ocelot................question 1: i assume u have read the dasam granth?

question 2: i think i can gather which bit u have the problem with but if u are amritdhari then when reciting Jaap Sahib or Chaupai Sahib (not too sure qhich granth Chaupai sahib is in so plz forgive me for my mistakes if i make any) ur ARE reciting Dasam Granth Bani are u not?

if u are not amrtidhari but are working urway to taking amrit...................cursing ur Father's word is not exactly the best way to start................... :)

    • If relationship with Guru is strong, then kanga is done twice a day, and turban should never be taken off or put on like a hat, there is a lot wrong with that as it is against rehit! maryada is to take off every layer of turban/pagh/dumalla individually, and tie fresh turban each time!
    • the whole 'your husband/wife is chosen for you'/sanjog thing is real, it's just that a lot of people end up marrying the wrong person. they did not end up with the person that was meant for them. my friend, you should marry someone who you feel a connection with and love. there are millions of sikh girls, i'm sure you can find someone who aligns with your sensibilities and who you can truthfully say that you love. sikhi does not say anything against love marriages. you can also be in a loveless arranged marriage which is a safe option b/c both families are more inclined to keep the union intact. i was one of those people who was like meh, i guess i'll just get arranged to some sikh. well i finally started dating for the first time this year and i'm getting married to someone that i love and cannot even imagine leaving. i think it's better to have lost & lost than never loved at all. unfortunately, a lot of people confuse love w/ looks & lust. a lot of men go for the fittest girl they can find and think they won the jackpot or something. in reality, your partner should be like an extremely loved best friend. there's a reason why it's a fact that the most stable and long-lasting relationships started as friendships.  i also think a lot of women are petty and divorce over small reasons, but there's other terrible things like high cheating rates as well. that's why the divorce rate in the west is high. be careful out there.
    • andrew tate praises sikhi too & likes sikhs. his brother also donated to sikh families iirc. they just like any "alpha" religion and tbh islam is the most "alpha" in their eyes. islam is very good at promoting that image. but imo a real alpha man doesn't command respect by beating up his wive(s) or forcing them to wear a burqa. a real man will have his woman listen to him w/o raising a hand or his voice, and command respect by being respectful. he leads by example and integrity. that's true masculinity. you get the idea. + yes, it's definitely true that islam is growing rapidly and making massive inroads. strength in numbers + belief will do that. but rlly it's just because of the birth rate. a lot of them are muslim b/c it's their "identity" just like how a lot of young sikhs will say they're "culturally sikh" or whatever. there just aren't billions of sikhs who lambast their identity everywhere and have strict and linear rules like in islam. besides, the reality is that islam and its followers are some of the most morally bankrupt. you can see all the weird trans rules in iran, bacche baazi in afghanistan, visiting brothels, watching p*rn, p*dophilia what goes on behind the scenes in countries like uae & qatar, etc, and come to your conclusions. you can google all the stats yourself and see which countries do the most of these ^.
    • stop associating with hinduism, that's the absolutely worst thing you can do as a sikh. not sure if you noticed but the entire world looks down upon and spits at india & hindus, literally no one respects them and considers them weak and cowardly. literally 1+ billion of them but not perceived as a strong religion commandeering respect.
    • you wrote a whole lot but told us nothing. what exactly did you do wrong to make you feel this way?
