Vaheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa Vaheguroo jee kee fateh!

The following article was in the Toronto Star today:

http://www.thestar.com/NASApp/cs/ContentSe...ol=968793972154

Guru Jee is reffered to as a book:

"The books leave the Golden Temple Saturday with pomp and ceremony"

"The books arrive at 8 a.m. Sunday at Pearson airport..."

"Once landed, the books will be escorted under the protection of parasols to three buses..."

The editors e-mail is lettertoed@thestar.ca. Please e-mail her/him and make sure you add your address and phone number (they say that on the website) in case they want to contact you. Please e-mail them and let it be known, politely, that Guru Jee is not a "book"

thank you

Diljot Kaur:

Thanks for the e-mail. Newspapers often use informal, secular terms that aren't intended to be disrespectful but are readily understood by ordinary readers. In Christianity, for example, the "Holy Bible" is usually called the Bible.

vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw!

vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!

People, calm down... remember, our Guru Granth Sahib IS a book!!! When we call it Guru, we are referring to its knowledge, but Just as the Bible is only a book to us (several have called the Koran a book on this forum), for the layman, it is only a really good book :@

well i think its good raising this issue with them now...so u know in the future they wouldn't just refer to Guruji as a book....and vicky is right they are of different culture.....i remember going to SACHA SAUDA to get some stuff with my kala friend...he came in with me even though he had to take off his shoes and stuff...it was funny cuz everyone in there were lookin at us...and he was amazed at the way we show respect ..... grin.gif
