This is not Gurmat, I thought Sikhi wasnt about Idol Worshipping in the first place, I thought sikhi was about worshpping the Infinite Waheguru, which Guru Nanak Dev Ji has said himself.

this is intresting i wanted to discuss something along these lines. are we right to encourage pictures of sikh Gurus and or statue.

my personal view is idiology and worship of photos and idols is against sikhi i belive we can only pray to Dhan SGGS. I belive phtos of Gurus are wrong.

what are your view. what do you think about photos and or statues, etc.

I belive this is an attempt to show sikhi as a sect which it is not.

there is absolutely nothing wrong with 'worshipping' photos.

some 'singh' wrote this on gursikhijeevan:

Gurbani says" Gur ki moorat man meh dhyan "

"Gur ka shabad mantar man maan"

So there is nothing wrong in doing darshan of a real photo of Guru Nanak Dev JI and concenterating in it. It all depends on your sharda. If you have faith everything is possible .You can have the darshan of Guru ji even from the photo.

Some people did the seva of photo of Guru Nanak Sahib with faith ,love and devotion during sant baba nand singh jee's time and had the darshan of Guru ji.

Bow in humility forever before the Guru, the Supreme Lord God. ||1||

you dont worship the image of Guru (physical)

.. u remember the shabad and accept Guru's (God') "Mantra" (his message and teachings)

what is "his image" is explained in the second line.. "his image" is his shabad/teachings

Again, please read Bandaginama by Bhai Raghbir Singh Ji. In it he describes that a photo or image IS something that can help to concentrate the mind and meditate...at first. However, as one progresses along the spiritual path, it becomes a heck of a lot of trouble because the mind cannot move beyond the image in their head. The image or picture actually hinders a person from progressing in spiritual progress. That is the practical aspect on why images and pictures should not be used.

god is EVERYWHERE. let that be in pictures or whatever. everyone has pictures that represent guru sahib and we put them up as if that were guru sahib so whats wrong with worshipping them? its not whats in the pictures. its the representation that the pictures hold. more or less whats in your head/heart. it depends on your sharda and prem. even some taksalis believe in doing matha tek of pictures while some are completely against it.

and on another note. gurbani has more than one meaning to it.
