The following is a message I had received from Youtube! It seems that Professor Darshan Singh has made a copyright complaint. The audio used in this video was found on a public website, katha.gurmatchanan.com. Why is it that he made such a claim on this particular video? He does not want it known that he was supportive of Sri Dasam Granth in the past. Well faujo, it's time we all spread the message far and wide within the Panth that Sri Dasam Granth Sahib Ji is Hazaraa Hazoor Guru Gobind Singh Sahib Ji's Bani! Gurbani means that it is Guru Sahib's bani. Sri Dasam Granth is GURBANI!!! Do not fall victim to senseless and illogical remarks and accusations! Use your logic and use Gurmat!

So here is how you can get the videos back on YouTube. File a COUNTER-NOTIFICATION.

Dont upload the files again as that might lead to a permanent deletion of your account.

All those who have been inflicted by this file-deleting-hysteria of Darshan Ragi should file a Counter Notification.

He has clearly been filing a false copyright complaint which is a serious offence. Once YouTube receives multiple Counter Notifications then they might take action against him for filing false complaints.

Here is how you can file a Counter Notification:

The only downside is that one needs to give all the personal information in order to file a counter notification. But it is worth. Because there is no way Ragi can contest the counter notification.

Once YouTube receives your counter notification they will send your statement to Ragi and he has 10 days to prove that he has copyright over the material he contested. If he cant then (and he cant) YouTube will reinstate your videos. Its a slow process but it is worth.

The application of imaginary property (property you can't touch or feel) to Gurbani is somewhat problematic. We tolerate it as long as it's enforced within reason.

The abuse of copyright seems to make Thomas Jefferson's thinking (that if you don't want someone to copy your ideas, you should keep them to yourself) reasonable.

The fact is the Ragi didn't write the lyrics to the songs he sung. (Yes, I know they are shabads, but when you take the copyright perspective, as the Ragi has done, they just become songs, means to earn money.)

Then, the fact that the Ragi is afraid of people learning the truth that he used to sing the banis of the Dasam Granth through-and-through shows his pusillanimous character.

The restriction on sharing a few minutes of a shabad on Youtube is basically a restriction on free discussion. Think about it: If you wanted to discuss a book, you would obviously have to excerpt it in order to be able to present your opinion of it to your readers. If you want to discuss a event or a person, it is totally legitimate to quote it or him. In the multimedia age, that means multimedia quotes.

How ironic that the leaders of this so-called "reform movement" want to portray themselves as the harbingers of freedom and reason and the jathedars as irrational totalitarians. Yet look who is restricting free discussion!

That the Ragi is piggy-backing on the onerous copyright restrictions put in place by corporations who would restrict your right to read if they could is pathetic.
