Gurudwara Party Halls

There's several more Gurdwaras run by the Bhat Sabha where it is believed the "English fry up" is served as Guru Ka Langar on weekends. Doncaster, Manchester, Glasgow and Edinburgh are rumoured to be serving meat as langar, please can someone confirm this........

They used to aboout 10-15 years ago in one of the Gurwaray in Glasgow until some GurSikhs caught wind of this and then went and 'discussed it' with them

Thanks for confirming either way. Good to know Gursikhs proactively changed things in Scotland.

Further to confirmation needed about the rumours around Donacaster and Manchester, I just remember being told about a wedding in Cardiff 2 years ago where they saw bacon, eggs and sausages being served as morning Guru ka Langar. Is that practice still taking place in one of the Cardiff Gurdwaras??....

WHAT! Just to confirm this is like in the Gurdwara, i.e. same building where the sangat has langar, they serve alcohol and meat?

I thought most of these function halls were totally seperate buildings like next door or a little drive away. I never thought they were in the actual Gurdwara.

Remember pyaari sat sangat jio.....this is not only a caste issue....if there is parkash of Dhan Shri Guru Granth Ji Sahib....then that should be our only consideration.....regardless of who runs theses guru ghars......remember there are a number of guru ghars from all differing castes incleded in this list so far

Are there any members of this forum who are active sewadars in the above mentioned Gurdwaras? Perhaps they can come forward and tell us the issues they are up against with the committees. We have heard from members of the congregation of the Ramgharia Gurdwara Coventry and Guru Teghbahdur Sahib Gurdwara Southampton. Ironically both these Gurdwara committees carry on with high profile events, inviting the likes of Sikh Channel to portray them as "panth sewadars".

Bear in mind that the local sangat of Ramgharia Gurdwara Slough, Leeds Sikh Temple and Wednesfield Gurdwara eventually abolished the meat and sharab being served under the umbrella of the Guru Ghar.

The Sangat of Leeds were able to get a specific Hukumnama from Sri Akal Takht directed at the committee of Leeds Sikh Temple instructing them to stop the manmat or be excommunicated from the Panth.

There is also a suggestion from the sangat that an approach from the Charity Commission angle may provide pressure to these Committees to stop anti Sikh activities.

Dont rely on any self proclaimed uk leaders to have the intelligence or passion to deal with the party halls. Also the local sewadars wont bother changing the practice as they have lost their spirit and accepted the beadbi. We need fresh blood to take this forward. A new jatha needs to be set up, like original R4G was set up 6years ago.

There are five gurdwaras in Manchester...For all i can confirm is that there are two gurdwara i know that DONT serve meat etc in langar:

www.gsghks.org.uk --------- this gurdwara is very strict Gurdwara and many AKJ singhs and singhnis come here every diwan, akhand path etc

I am not sure if the other three Gurdwaras Serve Meat etc or not but can somebody confirm this about the other 3 gurdwaras?
