theres one in Huddersfield

Please can you provide full address and details. This thread can be so helpful as there has never been a definitive list of Gurdwaras with Party Halls in UK who are going against Sikh Maryada and Sri Akal Takht Sahib

If the original poster can do the sewa of updating/editing the top of this thread everytime more info is posted, then we can really build up the list.

The following are a definite and the committee may now be purchasing the pub round the corner too in order to expand the "facilites" their party hall can offer

At last. At last someone on this message board who can read. The last month or so here has made me think that perhaps bollywood are right when they refer to us Sikhs as thicko's. On the 5th of June I wrote a message on the other thread (see below) highlighting how we are hardly in a position now to criticise the Grays Gurdwara simply for thinking about doing something that dozens of 'Ramgharia' and 'Bhatra' Gurdwaras in the UK have been blatantly doing for the last 30 years right under our noses. Shockingly, even after being given that information the contributers to this forum still kept going on about how they are were shocked that Grays was thinking of doing this...as if it was the one and only Gurdwara about to do it.

Those of you who now talk constantly about phonng Grays...picketing Grays...demonstrating at Grays ; Please explain why you've been more than happy for the Ramgharias and Bhatras to do the same ?

Then without warning one woman stood and pounced on the last Singh. She hit him repeatedly (about 8 times) over the head. He kept his hands by his side at all times whilst trying to escape. Other women joined in and started to grab other Singhs. At this point other Singhs who were at the door to leave Darbar Sahib returned to calm the situation. By now the whole sangat were on their feet and some of the men started to push Singhs and encouraged the women to continue to hit the Singhs. At this point two or three women stepped in to stop the others and the Singhs managed to get away

Then why did the Singh not report the women to the police ?

This is England. If thats the way those women want to behave they will be locked up in jail for doing that. Report the matter to the police (and I'm sure there is CCTV in Gurdwara) and the police will arrest those women.

As far as this matter is concerned, for years and years I've highlighted how Ramgharia and Bhatra Gurdwaras up and down the UK have halls adjoining the Gurdwara where they serve meat and alcohol. Every time I've raised the issue I've been shouted down because it's 'casteist' to talk about ramgharias and bhatras. Whats happening today in Grays is happening pricisely because you've all let it happen. You've let it happen because you've closed your ears and eyes to the fact that its been happening with ramgharia and bhatra gurdwaras for the last 30 years in this country. You say something about them and they cry the 'caste' issue. So why show all this anger now towards Grays , when there's at least a dozen ramgharia and bhatra Gurdwaras that are not just voting on starting it but have been doing it for a few decades now ?

For Sangats information the following Gurdwaras stopped allowing partys with alcohol, meat and tobacco. This was done with Sangat efforts and over the last 3 years. The Jathedar at the time Vedanti wrote a letter directly to help stop 1 of these halls.

This shows it does work. And these halls can all close if Sangat wants.

Well done to these Gurdwaras for doing the right thing.
