Maharaaj Parkash On A Beach?

Recommended Posts

Seen the Parkash done during kirtan samagams many times in India in fields and plot of land. Dont think this is much different however I don't like the idea of Guru ji having to go places because of someone's programme. If the couple want Guru ji's blessing they should really make the effort to meet their Guru.

yea i agree with balaitie

also when we want maharaj to put charan in our newly made houses or for some happy occasions, we bring maharaj's swaroop to our houses which is not wrong. people in india used to do parkash of maharaj in weddign halls where they drink alcohol and eat meat and dance on songs. This was used to done just to make it easy for wedding people. Now it is strictly banned and all anand karajs are done in guru ghar. There could be exceptions if in a village or pind guru ghar is small in size and more people are expected for occasion, special arrangements with all the respect and maryada could be done. just like i see this wedding, a nice and beautiful pandaal could be decorated for maharaj's pride and not for gaining personal pride.

The practice of Anand Karaj taking place on a beach is wholly inappropriate and disrespectful for the following reasons:

1. Firstly there is a hukamnama from Sri Akaal Thakat Sahib that explicitly forbids Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj from being taken to any place where meat and alchahol are present. It is evident to note that beaches are a common place for people to smoke and use intoxicants. Two years ago I went to California and found that every so often there would be condoms on the sand. For this reason I do not think beaches are at all appropriate for any person that respects Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Furthermore, on a beach public law applies and legally takes priority over Gurmat. If some person was doing something against gurmat (eat meat, spit, walk with shoes on etc) in the holy presence of Maharaj, the sangat can not legally stop them – so why put themselves in this situation? – idiots.

2. The focal point of a wedding should be Gurmat, and not location / scenery.

3. If Anand Karaj takes place at a beach / other venue (where maryada is not implemented), then what is the purpose of having a Gurdwara?

4 . On a beach sand gets everywhere, it can easily be blown onto Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj, or on their ramale.

5. There is no valid reason to have Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj prakash on a beach least of all for the purpose of Anand Karaj. This should not be done to satisfy the convenience of peoples travel arrangements or to satisfy an individual preference.

6. If a Sikh truly seeks Guru Sahib to sanctify and bless their wedding, their attitude would be ""We will crawl across miles of broken glass if it means Guru Sahib will give us the gift of Anand Karaj and sanctify our wedding. With Guru Jis Kirpa, all those that count will attend the wedding in sangat - wherever it is". There are enough Gurdwaras world wide to cater for Sikhs marriages... all it takes is a genuine aardas to make it happen.

7. We should keep at least some Sikh traditions and not try to find ways around them for stupid reasons.

India is different. The stick can be used for anyone that wants to purposely disrespect Maharaj. In the west the same method can`t be used and people are freely allowed to smoke, drink alcohol (not alcohol, but they do it anyway), eat meat, swear in public. And a beach is a public place. Even if they set the boundaries for that day at the beach, the respect for Maharaj cannot be kept. Others will think nothing of it and go on doing what they want. A imaginary line is not going to keep the disrespect out. Inorder to make sure no disrespect is to be done then it`s best to keep the Anand Karaj at the Gurdwara and if the bride family can`t afford to do it at the Gurdwara, then they can do the Anand Karaj at the brides house.

People are going to beaches, hotels, other places only because they want to do the Anand Karaj at a `fancy` place. They want to be the couple that did something different and not the regular go to the Gurdwara and get married. They don`t care to keep the respect for Maharaj and don`t care or know what is being said during the Anand Karaj. It`s the my wedding was better than your attitude. Punjabis can`t wait to show off, they spent more money and had it at a unique and better place than there family, friends, relatives, etc.

There is no legitmate reason to do Anand Karaj at any other place. The respect for Maharaj cannot be kept.

Highly inappropriate to have anand karaj anywhere except @ guru jees own house. Taking guru sahib jee away from his home -gurdwara sahib- to the place where one manukh think is better environment and looks/sound cool is the manmat of many wannabe posh ppl. Though nothing wrong if the place is always used for religious settings or strictly private area where drinking/smoking/eating meat never happens before..

At least they should have proper chandova sahib and a screen around 3 sides of guru sahib jees parkash..

After reading this I clearly see why many people don't take Sikh's seriously over any urgent matters regarding humanity. After reading this post, it clearly indicates that some people within the Sikh faith are more worried about the little things e.g. eating langar on the tables or the floor. In this case should we take the holy scriptures on the beach or not.

Come on people you are not serious?

Don't you think we have far more bigger issues to deal with? E.g. How to bring back the people who have decided to stray from the path.

I see allot of similarities generating within the Sikh faith to Islam, if we carry on, in 50 years or so non Sikhs will think that Sikhs are a part of Islam.

Many of the leaders running the main political bodies within in the Sikh faith are uneducated village folk of Punjab, is that what the future of the Sikh faith is? How can you call a Sikh faith modern if everything we do, we always try to follow the old ways, it's becoming so ridiculous, we even transform our fashion sense to highlight this.

How can we promote this religion faith (Sikh) to the non Sikhs. Sikhs have always stated, that our philosophy is timeless. How can this be, we cannot even get out of this old fashioned way of thought.

Seriously people, snap out of it.
