I feel that these protests are a good idea, but we are sending the Wrong message. Instead of saying "free Bhai balwant Singh", we would should be saying that "we stand 100% by your desicion Bhai sahib and support it, but this decision by the courts is wrong"

I think we sould respect Balwant Singh Rojana's wishes, he has obviously prepared for this shaheedi.

Delaying it in my opinion is not desirable for a soorma like Balwant Singh. He knows that with his shaheedi it can only make the panth stronger.

Of course it is very distressing seeing someone like BALWANT SINGH be given the death sentence. however in my mind by delaying the date it will cause the panth to lose momentum in the cause for justice, for awareness. By his hanging it raises awareness of the hundreds of sikh prisoners still rotting away... thousands of familys destroyed

Double bingo

It has never been the way of the Khalsa to beg false sarkaar!

Words of Shaheed Bhai Fauja Singh Ji:

"The tenth Guru formed the Khalsa by shedding his blood. When this plant gets dried up, it needs more blood. Then the Guru`s beloved ones spill their blood to keep the Khalsa`s flag flying. This cycle comes approximately every 50 years"

These are the games being played at the expense of Bhai Blawant Singh ji, as explained to me by an elder.

agreed but are we becoming unwilling participants?

When the Akal Takhat jathedars decided to open up the lines of communication such as email, etc., so we could enter the discussion, they made us participants. It smacked of a cheap stunt at the time and it stinks in my opinion. Like kharku said, they aren't going to read any emails; they're just going to say "Sangat has spoken and this is what they've suggested we do", when in fact they've known all along what action they were going to take.

Totally agree with all posts above.

Akal takht - jathedars - are defunct. only mahraj knows for how long .-- but mahraj is doing his glory of kirpa by giving us mahan gursikhs like Bhai Balwant Singh Jee - and they will be a thorn of truth to the backsides of the Indian system and their current slaves, and will remain so - as per Bhai Fauja Singh's quote - Maharaj is doing mahan kirpa -- Khalsa is awake , alive and kicking - ja baggeee jaa badshaaa

Yet it feels very uncomfortable to even attempt to critcise them. But sometimes when the truth (as an individual sees it) is as plain as day then it's very difficult to dismiss your own conscience when all the evidence points to an uncomfortable truth, because the office of Akal Takhat as started by 6th Paatshah is what stops loyal Sikhs from being more vocal.

The root of the problem is the people who have a hold over Sikhi and it's institutions; those elected officials in Panjab and the faceless individuals in the Indian government who pull the strings from their "underground" holes. We don't know whether the Akal Takhat jathedars are being leant upon to make decisions which damage the credibility of the institution they lead, OR they are willing participants in the policies and decisions that originate from their office. Only they truly know.

If they do believe in an all-knowing Creator and that our Gurus are ang-sang, then they must also be aware that they will be held accountable if they have knowingly taken orders from corrupt men and contributed to decisions which have damaged the panth and the interests of the kaum. Sikhs with a deferential fear of their Gurus - and Sikhs not wishing to damage Sikhi - would step-down and move on. No one is asking for heroics if they fear for their lives because not everyone has the stomach for a fight or to expose corruption, especially if you've a family and children in your life. If they're going with the flow and hoping nobody amongst the population finds out the reality of what occurs behind closed doors then these are extremely worrying times indeed.

My understanding is that Panthic Jathebandis in the UK, are not asking for mercy etc. Balwant Singh has dared the CM of Punjab to hang him.

The panthic jathebandis are asking the Punjab CM, to take a stand, either hang him (show your true colours again) or Free him. This does not leave ant room for him to wriggle out off, as suspending or delaying the hanging is not an option.

The suggestion sent to the Akal Takht by UK panthic jathebandis is for him to ask CM Punjab to stop the hanging and release him, as above.

Well Badal must be laughing that many sikhs and Jathebandis still have faith in Akal Takh Jathedar. Why don't people learn from past events. What did Akal Takht Jathedar do when Sirsa Sadh mocked Guru Gobind Singh Ji, what did he do in Ludhiana Kand. Every time we were fiercely told by Badal supporters that let have faith in the Akal Takht jathedar ,nd everytime it was Badal who instructed the jathedar on what to do to gain maximum political advantage from the situation. About emails, well not long ago they had asked for emails on what type monument for 1984 should be erected in the darbar Sahib complex, Baljeet Singh Daduwal had created sort of movement to get that done, but what happened? what was done with the emails? and where is the monument? And here we are falling for it all over again. Badal and company know very well that they don't have to try hard to make sikhs follow what Akal Takht Jathedar says and that they can turn sikhs in the direction they want using Akal Takht. They kill two birds with one stone, one they kill the chance of any alternative leadership like that of Daduwal by saying that lets unite under Akal Takht and second, once sikhs unite under Akal Takht they scuttle the whole movement in a shrewd way. The most common tactic they use to scuttle such movements is to first make a committe, then buy time to give decision, in the meanwhile normally some other issue comes up in the panth and no one asks them what was done for the last issue.I am pretty sure its going to be same this time.

I think sikh individuals and Jathebandis are shying away from their own responsibilities by putting everything on Akal Takht even after knowing that Akal Takht jathedar is not capable of giving sikhs any direction as he is completely working under Badal's instructions.

If you say these things in media, Badal supporters generally blame you of mud sludging and tell you that you are against panthic ekta. Thats what they did when I called in a sikh channel show full of Badal people.

They told that if Akal Takht jathedar was so bad why did Bhai Balwant Singh ji demand to meet him. Well thats every sikh's compulsion that if they want to dedicate anything to Akal Takht they will have to contact its Jathedar. It was out of this compulsion that Bhai Balwant Singh had to meet the jathedar as he respects Akal Takht like all sikhs. Otherwise everyone including Bhai Balwant Singh know about the jathedar, especially after he awarded Fakre-kaum (Panth's pride) award to Badal.

Like I have said before what we need to understand is that Akal Takht and its Jathedar are two separate things. Akal Takht should be respected by all sikhs and was established by Guru Hargobind Sahib ji . Akal Takht jathedars can be good or bad and we should speak out against him if he is being bad. We should force him to either be good according to gurmat principles or leave. When we say things against Akal Takht jathedar, it doesnt mean we are against Akal Takht or its authority, we are just against the Jathedar being used for petty politics in return of some favours.

I think the only non political leader of any worth left in Punjab is Sant Daduwal . and the more we can rally behind him the better it will be for sikh panth. One of the best solution I see to the problem is if Bhai Balwant Singh is declared Akal Takht jathedar by sarbat khalsa. But its unlikely to happen as it will be damaging for both current Jathedar and his master Badal.
