To be fair Gujaratis also pursue money but they still respect their religion more I think.

Punjabi culture really is heavy on nasha.

When I went out clubbing in my younger days, the vast majority of fights were caused by drunk aggressive Punjabis, people who would call themselves Sikhs.

The Hindu Punjabis were not like this.

There is something really wrong in this 'Sikh' culture.

True.

This Punjabi-ism taking over Sikhi is so true. Went to a Nagar Kirtan recently and I was quite close to the palki sahib but at some point someone was playing music so loud no one could heear the kirtan. Something about "punjabian di shaan vakhri" and the worst thing is that is wasnt supposed to be an ambush and yet it was just beadbi but they probably didn't even know. Punjabi-ism allows for so many things to be linked with Sikhi that are anti-Gurmat. For example someone was saying that the sign of a Sardar is "akhaan laal te mooh te gaal" ie drunk nd swearing all the time. Its just sick

Spot on. Men should stay out of this issue without a doubt. Why? It will appear as if the men-folk are dictating how women should dress, i.e. an accusation levelled at Muslims about how they keep their women down apparently. It will give further credence to the inaccurate assertion that orthodox Sikhi is male dominated and controlled, with Sikh women have little or no say.

We all know our elder ladies aren't shrinking violets when it comes to speaking up, so they should sort this issue out amongst the ladies.

The girls that dress like when they go to the Gurdwara don't listen to their own mothers.

So why would they want to listen to some next aunty???

Many of these girls are highly rebellious. It's a trait which they have manifested, developed, and practised since childhood. As a result, they regularly got away with murder at home, due to the weakness of their parents.

They aren't about to see the error of their ways anyone soon now.

And they certainly don't appreciate being told what to do by older females.

Ironically, they are more likely to listen to a FIRM MALE. They respect men far more than they respect themselves. In fact, they live and die for men!!!

The parents of many of these girls have given up on them.

The only answer for "proclaimed offenders" like these is to be strict and refuse entry to the Gurdwara for those who cannot muster up the respect to at least dress modestly in front of the Guru.

You need a firm alpha male to lay down the law for these types; they simply don't respect anyone who respects them, because, fair enough, they know themselves that they're too dirty to be worthy of the respect (!!!), and can see straight through such "pleasing" behaviour as a lack of confidence, which they eat up.

Once this becomes a norm, s2appers will think twice before turning up to the Gurdwara dressed like a hoe, because no one wants to have to go back home and get changed.

And, just to make it absolutely clear; if they can't respect Guru Ji; they CAN go straight to the wedding party.

We are not fanatical muslims- my grandma shows a whole lot of arm and my aunt wears low cut suits to the gurwarra (she is in her 60's). Id like to see someone tell her to cover up, she'd beat the crap out of u!

But remaining lowest of the low, to live at others feet is.

ROTFL.... LMFAO!!!! :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:

This reminds me of a Punjabi Comedy, one of many directed/produced by the legendary Gurchet Chitarkar, who always focuses on dysfunctional families.

This one is FAMILY KHUSREYAN DEE.....!!!! :biggrin2: :biggrin2: :biggrin2:

So you bend over to give your respects and your tits are haning out.. thats okay?

Benji, your post is quite amusing.

So your 60 year old aunt gets her jugs out in the Gurdwara, - koi sharam nahi?

On one hand you say we should kill the ego and on the other your aunt would beat the crap out of u, what about her ego? why you think people wipe and clear sangats shoes ? clean the toilets?

LMAO!!!!

Yes, truly "PUNJABIYAN DEE SHAAN VAKHRI"! :biggrin2:

How uncouth you are. maybe it is you who needs a "FIRM MALE" .

    • Been so much nindya and attacking Shastarvidiya since the 2000s, however if we look at gatka now it's still mostly as poor and poorly taught as it was back then, still morris dancing moves and still behzti moves in BBC shows about sikhi and vaisakhi. If people were going to attack shastarvidiya, wouldn't have made sense to improve gatka instead and make it more effective? Additionally, the Nihang Singh presence has improved greatly now, and the cracks within the the SGPC and affiliated jatha jathebandis are showing more greatly as panth becomes more knowledgable with dasam bani and itihas day-by-day, so much gyaan which was lost within panjabi sikhs during colonial times. In the 2000s, the groups were able to talk down this bani and  gyaan by associating it with  RSS and hindus, brahminwaad etc. Not working so well now is it? However with gyaan it would be also good for us to try and preserve our martial arts and keertan vidiya as well! More and more crazy keertan videos are coming out from jatha members that are being made fun of and making sangat annoyed and upset, on tiktok and instagram reels.

Being from Punjab, almost every Sardaarji i know (amritdhari or not) sleeps/showers with their hair uncovered. I don't think Guru Sahib asked us to wear Dastar to sleep and I don't think it is in SRM.   The idea of "keski being worn to sleep" is cos in Bollywood films (Bachna Ae Haseeno) Sikh characters usually tie a gol parna when sleeping since the actor's usually Hindu. So they gotta cover his head somehow or he'd have cut hair. Same reason Diljit wore a pagg to bed in the El Sueno vid. Only time they didn't do that was in Gadar with Sunny Deol which just looked odd tbh   What in the world? What sikh or even a decent human would base their knowledge of their culture or religion on a movie industry, that too Bollywood?  Believe me, no sikh ever said, I must cover my head becasue an actor did so in a movie. I've been doing it all wrong, I must start covering mh head because the sikh in that movie did.  Just because every panjabi and sardaar you know, does something, also doesn't make it right..  Follow the guru. And if you have a medical condition, then exemptions can be made.  Just admit it, because of my medical condition, I am not able to follow this rehit. Why are you getting everyone else to drop to your level?
    • Wasn't Guru Arjan Dev's martyrdom on amd always commemorated on 6th June? How come it was 30th May?  Just like 6th June 84, where the likes of Terrorists like Indira Gandhi chose to attack Darbar Sahib where many many innocent Sikhs would suffer, as they went to commemorate Martyrdom of Maharaj.
    • best thing is to follow the Sikh Rehat Maryada and use common sense for gray areas. Anything outside of that's irrelevant tbh that code is what Guru Gobind Singh Ji and the 5 Pyaare agreed on when creating Amrit in 1699
