What can be the possible White House discussion / outcome? What sort of process WhiteHouse follow in such petitions? How this can impress upon Indian system to hang culprits and deliver justice, we all appreciate India is no longer a soft nation as they have recently hanged Kasab.

It's a motion to call the riots genocide. Officially. Trust me, this has a big effect. Turkey recently got real mad at France because they recognized the Armenian genocide which Turkey denies happened.

After the goal of 25000 signatures was achieved, it appears that people have stopped signing the petition.

However the ‘Sikhs for Justice” has appealed to those who have not signed as yet, to continue signing the petition. Petition is still open for signing till December 15, 2012

This is not a formal way and probably won't be declared as genocide even if president team agree with us after they review petition's message. I see that this petition serves crash course for our ppl knowing the importance of naming it to genocide. I am not sure how this will work but my wild guess is that this should be first approved by both house and senate and then signed by president. The only quick short term advantage is that this will bring president's attention toward our genuine concern.

Reality is that it won't be signed as US official statement calling 1984 attacks on Sikhs as genocide. Lots of lobbying is needed plus at first we need someone from congress to introduce this as bill (just like politician from Australia brought bill on their parliament floor).

More signatures = More pressure on politicians.
