SGPC and RSS published a book full with disrespect of Sikh Guru Sahib's and false history

Recommended Posts

If that is the case then didn't they read and agree with the translations before publishing?

I'm sorry about the constant editting, Bhaji.

The reason why I removed this bit is because I realised that the book isn't really the issue anymore (still waiting to find out whether it's still in market or not)...but that why had Day and Night news uploaded an old video to spark the issue now? After the apologies etc. are done....

This actually is a dead issue in India.

No wonder Sangat tv hasn't ever broadcast this interview because it's even before they started re-broadcasting Day and Night new's broadcasts!!

It seems the couple of users like Dasamsarblohgranth who had guessed that it was all about politics were right all along!!!!

This is an area which needs addressing. Not so long ago, Kala afghana wrote a book and sent it to Sri Akal Takht Sahib for approval. Vedanti without reading it, signed it, and hey presto! Kala-afghana publishes the book, causes uproar, and then Sri Akal Takht Sahib take action against him, but then he plays his ace. Vedantis signature and approval of content. Then Vedanti admitted he hadnt even read the book. DOH!

Any books that come to Sri Akal Takht Sahib, should be either vetted by a committee, to speed things up, or the author given a timeframe of when he can expect a reply.

^ Baba ji there are so many in punjab please specifically mention 2-3 names which did something against cruelty of GOI, you read so many mahapurash.

Baba Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale (and all of his companions), Baba Karam Singh Hoti Mardhan, Baba Nand Singh Jee, Bhai Vir Singh Jee, Bhai Sahib Bhai Randhir Singh Jee (and all of his companions, read Rangle Sajan and other books), Raghbir Singh Bir Jee, Baba Harnam Singh Jee Rampur Khera, Shaheeds in 1978, Bhai Fauja Singh Jee, etc....

Even Baba Ranjit Singh Dhadrian Valey...you know how many protests he participates in....he barely escaped a bullet as well..someone tried to silence him by killing him while protesting.

"He participated in almost every protest march whenever there was an assault on sikhi. One singh of his jatha was hit by a bullet in the protest against Dera Sacha-Sauda. It is said that the bullet was aimed directly at Sant Ji but this Singh pushed Sant Ji and took the bullet on his own shoulder."

Like I said before...

Naam Simran is one of the main pillars of Sikhi. Those who "closed their eyes and did Vahiguru Simran" were the same ones who gave up their lives for Sikhi and didn't run away when they were needed the most.

CONTROVERSIAL SGPC BOOK INFLAMES SIKH MASSES

PANTHIC.ORG

Sikh Ithaas (History) published by the SGPC

Nagpur, Maharashtra (KP) – The Dera Sacha Sauda issue has not been solved yet and another issue has already raised the fury of the Sikh masses living worldwide. The recently published controversial book ‘Sikh Itihaas’ has several peculiar facts behind it. Mainly, the SGPC not only put the book into circulation but also published it.

The book has been written in Hindi and it contains several insults to Guru Sahib and Sikh history. Although the insulting terminology is prevalent throughout the book, many are surprised to find out that the SGPC allowed the book to be put into circulation. For this reason, the SGPC President in particular has received scathing criticism from the Sikh Sangat. Some of offensive passages called Guru TegBahadur Sahib Ji, the 9th Guru of the Sikhs as a 'thief', and the 6th Guru Sahib Ji a 'kidnapper', the 10th Guru Sahib a 'coward'.

Atinderpal Singh, President SAD (International), is one of the only Sikh leaders that has raised concerns about the contents of the book. While talking to the press from Kotkapura, he lobbied that the role of anti-Sikh organizations such as the Rashtriya Sikh Sangat and Bhartiya Janta Party must be uncovered by initiating a proper inquiry into the book. In addition, the party president lashed out at Avtar Makkar, Parkash Badal, Jathedar Vedanti and several Sant Samaj leaders for allowing the book to remain in publication despite the requests of Sikhs living in various parts of Punjab.

Bhai Atinderpal Singh stated that the writer of the book had even surpassed the acts of Gurmeet Ram Rahim by using such derogatory terminology in the book.

He also expressed grief over the silence of the Sikh leadership in regards to the book and has asked Giani Joginder Singh Vedanti to understand his role as the Jathedar of Akal Takht Sahib and to summon the SGPC President along with Dharam Parchar Committee officials.

Sikh Sangat based in parts of Punjab and other States has called for a boycott of the book and has been organizing programs to burn copies of it as an expression of their protest. Furthermore, Sikhs living in all parts of the world have been asked to cut any type of donations that are being sent to the SGPC until the organization’s officials are punished for their activities.

A Khalsa Alliance (KA) representative based in California also used strong words in relation to the SGPC’s involvement in the book. It was brought to the attention of Panthic Weekly staff that the book was initially a part of Bibi Jagir Kaur’s set of proposed books that were circulated within hundreds of SGPC controlled Gurdwara Sahibs. According to the Alliance representative, while old copies of this book are still available at many Gurdwara Sahib libraries,

distribution of this book was geared up once again just about a month ago.

Reponse

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbhandhak Committee has responded to the concerns of the Sikh community in regards to the book ‘Sikh Itihas’. Despite the wait, the statement by Avtar Makkar that was provided to the press has fallen short of the expectations of the Sikh Nation.

According to the statement, a new panel has already been initiated to review all the books that are proposed to the SGPC. SGPC Additional Secretary Joginder Singh has been asked to head the panel, while Prof. Balwinder Singh, Dr. Balwant Singh Dhillon, Dr. Kharak Singh, Dr. Kirpal Singh, Dr. Jasbir Singh Sambhar would sit on it to review the contents of the books.

Avtar Makkar further held that he was not involved in the publication of the book and denied that any organization has contact the SGPC. He asked Sikhs situated throughout Punjab to contact the SGPC directly to report any derogatory parts of the book.

A meeting was also held at Akal Takht Sahib about the controversy that has been stirred by the book. The panel of five Singh Sahibs has asked the SGPC to provide details about the publication of the book in full detail within seven days. Decisions on this issue have been delayed until the report is submitted to Akal Takht Sahib.

In a separate incident, the SGPC President said that circulation of the book has been stopped and that the Dharam Parchar Committee is in the process of recalling the books that have been distributed in several villages.

FATEHGARH SAHIB: Not only 'Sikh Itihas' but all also

other books published by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC)

would be put under scanner of experts to pinpoint any objectionable

content in them.

This was disclosed by SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar, talking to TOI here on Thursday.

He said the persons who committed negligence would not be spared and strict action would be taken against them.

The SGPC president said a review committee consisting of Sikh scholars

Dr Kharak Singh, historian Dr Kirpal Singh, Dr Balwant Singh Dhillon, Dr

Jasbir Singh Sambhar and SGPC research board in-charge Prof Balwinder

Singh had been formed under headship of SGPC additional secretary

Joginder Singh.

Makkar clarified that no such book having controversial content was published during his tenure.

He said anybody finding anything derogatory in the book 'Sikh Itihas'

should bring it to the notice of the SGPC instead of making an issue of

it in the press.

He alleged that some people were indulging in politics on this issue, which was not in the interest of the community.

"It is time to mend our mistakes and blunders so as not to make a mockery of ourselves in the eyes of the public," he added.

He said orders had been issued for withdrawal of the book 'Sikh Itihas' from the market and the libraries.

Notably, the book 'Sikh Itihas' was published by the dharam parchar committee of SGPC.

According to Malkiat Singh Ball of Gurmat parchar sabha, Nagpur, this

book was distributed among the 'Nanak Panthis' Sikligar and Vanjara

communities in and around Nagpur during the tenure of Jagir Kaur as

president of the SGPC through the gurmat parchar sabha.

The five Sikh high priests, in a meeting at Amritsar on Wednesday,

summoned a detailed report from the SGPC secretary within one week.

The hiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee president further said that

in future, the copies of script of the books to be considered for

publication would be sent to the panel of Sikh scholars for review in

advance to root out any mistake or blunder.

What action did SGPC take to ban this book and what action was taken against the authors?

From Facebook:

Joseph Davey Cunningham wrote History of the Sikhs in 1848.
Many Sikh Scholars and Historians praise Him for this act of His. And take His name with Respect for writing History.
BUT when This History written by Him is TRANSLATED WORD-TO-WORD in Hindi (Book Sikh Itihaas) , it is an issue and probably conspiracy of RSS.....Dhan Guru Ke Sikh.

NOTE - Cunningham's book was translated word to word in 1998 and published in March 1999 , but due to Blashpemy it contains, it was Banned and Recalled by SGPC.

Not everything is RSS Singho.....

Read for urself what JD Cunningham writes about Guru Sahib (And Still Sikhs praise Him)!

Cunninghams first hand observations of the Sikhs, their religious practices and the Sikh rule, can be taken as accurate,as he wrote on what he saw himself, but he along with the early western writers of earlier Sikh history, based their history on the muslim and hindu versions of history, as the Sikhs were not so forthcoming in meticulous documentation of their history.

That thug Baldev sirsa was raising a dead issue. The book was published under guidance of missionary dilgeer when he was incharge of sikh reference library and Tohra was president of SGPC.

So beware of agents like Baldev sirsa who was raising this issue inspite of prior knowledge that book is already banned. Even Darshan Ragi's website that displayed the video wrote that Baldev sirsa was lying. Where is the credibility of this congress puppet channel and supposed to be sikh leader lying nakedly and misleading sikh sangat. Shame on such characters.

Open your ears and listen to the video posted by the OP and then check for yourself if S Baldev Singh raised this issue with Akal Takht Sahib or not?

This is the sorry state of affairs of today's so called Sikhs who instead of protesting as one against this insult to our Gurus find suspicians in intentions

of those who raise these issues.

Did you open ears to hear the false propaganda by dummies making an issue when it was settled years before?

If not pl read this

sujjon.jpg

dilgeer1.jpg

Cunningham was dismissed from British service as he exposed the treachery of the Dogras and collusion with the British in getting the Sikhs defeated in the Anglo Sikh wars. He writes quite highly of the Sikhs and for years was the only Sikh history book. he was so shocked by his dismissal he died an early death.

As for the RSS , Brahmin matt is alive and well in the Punjab and increasing. So many educated people are going to Astrologers and watching Hocus Pocus TV programmes coming on Indian TV. Yet very few know of their religion or history. Most of the youth cannot even name the Guru Sahibs names but know all about the latest haircuts. Its time we went out and told the population about the Sikh religion, just as happened at the time of the Gurus when the Gurus sent missionaries out around the Punjab and India.

I cant say about india, but here in england, we cannot, i repeat cannot, progress, until the England born Sikhs take control of parchar in the gurdwaras.

The elder generation or lets say most of those from india, have lost it. they are going in the wrong direction, are very petty and hankari. They think that they are owed committee positions. They are the biggest threat to the future of Sikhi in the uk at the moment.

I dont know about going out and telling the population like Guru Sahib did, i dont think that the younger Sikhs age (16-30) have got the guts to do this, they are very weak and the strong ones are far too few. most of the sikh youths inc amritdharis i have met locally are a complete waste of time.

Isn't day and night news funded by Congress...? That explains a lot. Do you know Baldev Sirsa is a anti-Dasam guy?

It is a congress funded channel. I do not know when issue is resolved as case is old one why baldev sirsa is raising

a dead issue.

    • The love-hate dynamic perhaps stems from different sides. The middle-class, liberal-leaning Indian who has a cosmopolitan outlook on history views the Mughal era as a natural and unavoidable part of history where countries are conquered, and the conquerors leave imprints of their own culture on the natives, and therefore it's not something that is particularly objectionable. But then you have the nationalist or religiously inclined who view the Mughal conquest as a personal affront; a matter of a foreign force imposing its culture and religion on a population through compulsion and barbarism in part. Someone in the middle would appreciate the cultural value of what Mughals contributed to India while still acknowledging their destructive practices in how they managed to imprint their presence on a people and its culture through conquest.
    • at that time ALL gurdwaraey used jot for lighting   , some punjabis are so dense ... It is more important to have nagara than shank anyhow . Brahmins did their utmost to reinstate their prejudical treatment of folks when they became willing MAHANTS under British raj   and also brought murtian of debtey (the ones that were brought into harmandir Sahib ended up in durgiana mandir I heard .) That is why Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh did morcha against the people running harmandir sahib preventing 'low caste ' sikhs from getting degh or giving degh for blessing. then you had Saka Nankana sahib and saka Guru ka Bagh .  They've been trying since time of Guru Nanak Dev ji to subvert our panth.
    • didn't the brahmins enslave the mulnivasis too and use their labour to build their temples too? this is the way of the world . The architecture was  not particular to the turks but actually adopted by them from the nation of Persia so what you see in Punjab's reaction  is just an appreciation of the artwork and skill of the kaligars  but shared history of trade .  Shah Jahan married Mumtaz's sister , Mumtaz died in childbirth 14th I think  she  was his second wife anyhow.
    • hiv aids was a zoonotic virus from green monkeys' kidneys used to incubate vaccine antibodies for the polio vaccines  this is an issue which was known by Dr Salk but he helped covered over the fact of contaminated batches, the ame process carried on , so there was a whole generation exposed to this danger .
    • Yh that annoyed me when I saw it at the fort at anandpur sahib. Why would a 17th century fort have a khanda on it lol. I think older generation wouldn't be happy with a lot of puratan stuff. Sikh leaders in the last century almost became bhramin phobic and any practise or tradition which remotely reminded them of hinduism they wiped it out.  Its one of the reasons why dasam bani got shoved to the side.  Just like how the post that I posted about mansha singh, about him lighting jot at harmandir sahib and then sikhs questioning it because it's a bhaman practise.  The war banners of the khalsa army during majaraja ranjit singhs time used to have kali mata and other war goddesses on it, imagine bringing that back today! It would cause a riot lmao.  Couple of years back old wall paintings at tarn taran darbar sahib of hindu mythology were whitewashed and painted over with sikh ithiaasic scenes.  My told me that in the local gurdwara when she was a kid they used to have a shankh shell in the gurdwara.  These images were symbols of war, nothing more.  Not that your average sikh cared, but leaders didnt want sikhi to be seen as a sect of hindu dharam  which is understandable especially with all the events in the first half of the last century.  Theres even a sikh flag from maharaja ranjit singhs time with hanuman on it. But younger people are less "insecure" about these things.
