When an apology has been made what do you want a meeting for?

 @

is it so you can go around saying that look what we got done?

The GurSikhs deserve a meeting.

Bhenji, this is not some small incident where a slap on the wrist will sort the problem out. The beadbi carried out is massive. If someone brought alcohol into a mosque they would go balistic as this is the most blasphomous act that could happen in Islam.

Avtar Singh took our Guru into a public place where alcohol is served, not once but on a few occasions. I am sorry but an apology on the phone is not enough, an apology should be done in front of Guru Granth Sahib Ji and the Sadh Sangat. Again if you organise the meeting, it will be short to the point, an apology in front of Guru Maharaj, confirmation that it won't happen again followed by Ardas and a Hukumnama.

Naujawan Khalsa UK, National Council of Sikh Gurdwaras, Akhand Keertan Jatha, Damdami Taksal, Nanaksar, RaraSahib, BOSS, Sikh Federation all take a stand against this kind of behaviour. All condemn the actions of Avtar Singh and committee leaders like him. All jathabandis are united in this.

We should make an example of this situation to deter

this beadbi from ever happening again. GurSikhs around the UK now look forward to this already delayed public meeting.

Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa!

Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!

OK Hoonjan does not want a meeting to explain his actions to the Sikh Panth.

Fair enough if he does not want to meet a section of the Sikh Panth then I for one request R4G to now send this matter to the Akal Takht to sort out.

The meeting is not for R4G to boast about it having achieved xyz, to date I have not read about R4G boasting in such a way. It is a chance for both sides to meet and clear any misunderstandings etc.

The meeting will be held in front of Guru Ji so no one will show direspect towards anyone else at the meeting.

Why is uncle Hoonjan so reluctant to meet ?

When the beadbi was taking place at Northampton Singh Sabha Gurdwara (see link above) the collective stand of the Naujawaans along with the responsive committee successfully resolved the situation in a short time frame. Looking back I now have a lot of respect for Amarjit Singh Atwal - President of Northampton Gurdwara - as he openly accepted his mistake on this forum (remember he logged in as Amarjit Atwal) and was willing to resolve it in a public meeting in front of Guruji, where 50 Khalsa Naujawan and the committee were present.

The Naujawan recieved a warm reception from the Northmpton committee in the darbar sahib. Benti Chaupai da Path was done by the whole sangat and the meeting commenced in a constructive manner. The issues were resolved in front of Guruji and a strong relationship was created between the Youth and the experienced committee.

"R Kaur", why do you think this cannot happen again?

As previously stated, we have concluded from our formal discussions with Avtar Singh Hoonjan is that he is not apologetic.

In our discussions he continued to justify his actions.

He claimed that whatever was happening in the Gurdwara was outside his knowledge and even blamed the Granthis and other members of the Gurdwara.

In the conversations he sometimes said he was not in the country when these wedding ceremonies were organised.

From time to time he justified his actions by saying that if wedding ceremonies cannot take place in hotels than people will get married in other ways.

He was continuously concerned about his personal dishonour and would not acknowledge the sacrilege he has lead against Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

After these inconclusive discussions, we formally released a statement and requested a face to face meeting. Members of other organisation also spoke to him and came up with the same conclusion. The demand for a meeting is not a one person decision. Various JathaBandhis are now involved.

The meeting still needs to go ahead to end this issue. The aim of the Campaign is to stop this abuse from happening in the UK and Brent Sikh Centre has been identified as a culprit.

We look forward to meeting Avtar Singh Hoonjan and Brent Sikh Centre Committee.

GurFateh!

RKAUR Ji I would request you not to reply to this topic any further as any sensible person can make out that some of them who belong to a XYZ organization are trying to linger on with extremely irrelevant and illogical reasoning.Let Akal Takht summon Sardar Avtar Singh Ji and Brent Sikh centre sangat will act collectively and accordingly as we all know where we stand. There is no point of providing justification on this matter anymore .One can clearly make out that someone is trying to cash on for some kind of publicity for himself or his organisation by trying to project this as a very sensational issue. The topic heading used is quite catchy I must admit but when one comes face to face with the actual facts related to it ..immdeiately you can sense a HIDDEN AGENDA.

SO LETS LEAVE THESE SINLESS ,PURE AND MORE KNOWLEDGEABLE INTELLECTUALS DISCUSS ON THIS ISSUE...BUT NO ISSUE IN AN OBSCURE WORLD OF THEIR OWN.

Sat Sri Akal:

If anything, the accused should be thanking the RespectForSriGuruGranthSahibJi campaign members. At least they are trying to give these people an opportunity to fix their errors and retain their identity of Sikhism. Had the case of these people been forwarded directly to the Akal Thakt, they would have suffered humiliation on top of being excommunicated from the Sikh Panth.

R4G please pettition the Akal Takht, we all know where uncle Hoonjan stands. I have said all along that we need to take one of these beadbi cases to the akal Takht so it will act as a detterent to others thinking of taking guru Ji to hotels etc.

Yes we all know who has been cashing on by allowing Guru Jis beadbi.

Nice try at spinning again.

Why should we believe R Kaur & Panthsewak that Hoonjan has apologised. We have no faith in Hoonjan and therefore the Gursikhs want a face to face meeting. Simple!

Please tell me what you think the hidden agenda is. You are talking political rubbish and it is obvious that your stance is also political. All Hoojan thinks is that the GurSikhs are going to take his Pardhan title away from him!

This narrow minded thinking has been used in all of R Kaur & Panthsevak's postings. What are you trying to prove by quoting Gurbani? The fact of the matter is that this is the Khalsa way! Issues relating to Beadbi to the Panth can only be forgiven in the presence of the Sangat. What gives Hoonjan the right to error and then forgive himself?

It is a big issue! Representatives of Sikhism in the UK are not playing their part in promoting the religion. For God's sake is the 400th centennary of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Brent Sikh Centre are hypocrites as they would have celebrated this occasion but continue to sell Guruji as a commodity. Its a farce!!! Reflect over your actions, its time to rectify them and apologise to Guruji, WITH SINCERITY.

You say that its the local community's issue. I never knew the borough of Brent included Slough! The actions of the Brent Sikh Centre have not been contained within the local community, therefore Sikhs across the UK have the right to intervene.

    • Umm, that's totally irrational, bro. There are plenty of prakash-dara Singhs in Punjab (less than we'd like, but still plenty). No one cares that you are sabat soorat. It isn't 1986. You can walk around in chola, kurta-pajama, or jeans. Whatever. If you want the look @dallysingh101 is referring to, just go into a cheap clothing shop (not a Western-style mall) and buy some shirts for 250 rupees or a track suit for 2000 rupees. You'll get the cheap stuff made in some sweatshop in Bombay.
    • The Mind is Jyot Saroop (Waheguru), but the mind is under the influence of five evils… Through Naam Simran( Rememberance), the mind will begin to detach from evil, and get back to its original form ( MANN TU JYOT SAROOP HEH)… Until the mind breaks free from the five evils, one will go through the cycle of paap and punn….which leads to Karma… Naam Simran destroys past karma, and prevents new karma coming into fruition… I did this, I did that… This non realisation of the Jyot Saroop gives rise to paap and Punn, which in turn gives birth to suffering and misery…
    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
