Artificial Intelligence From Sikhi's Perspective

If Ranjeet's hypothesis comes true, I'd be curious to see how these beings, as Sikhs, would practice Sikhi minus the Punjabiyat (or even the South-East Asian) influences.

There's a propensity to judge the likes of 3HO (who, to be fair, are indulging in a few strange practices) as non-Sikh, whether such opinions originate from a mild form of subconscious (or otherwise) discrimination or not I'm not sure. What the kattar amongst us will make of android Sikhs I shudder to think.

Anyway, I bet the jathas will be falling over themselves to recruit them and encourage them to join their ranks, lol. At least they'll be safe from the sort who make a policy of weak, young boys being indoctrinated by holy men and their representatives.

Maybe a machine is the only thing capable of following the truest form of Sikhi?

I wonder if AI Sikh would understand Gurbani in a very literal sense and perhaps not understand the particular nuances that maybe a Human Sikh could?

But then again, they may see Gurbani in a completely different way, maybe more accurately in ways we have never considered.

I am bit of a science fiction buff and there has been a lot of books and films about Artificial Intelligence whether it is Isaac Asimov, Battlestar Galactica, Terminator etc.

As the world advances technologically, it may be a matter of time before we have a sentient, intelligent being.

Human beings would claim they created this and would claim they are God, but would it not be part of Maharaj's hukam.

As a Sikh, it makes me wonder whether a potentially Artificial Intelligence would make a better Sikh than us humans because they may not be able to feel emotion and they may not be susceptible to the five vices.

However, if they have no emotions how would experience Anand (bliss) from Naam.

It is always claimed that only as humans can we break the cycle and achieve Mukhti, because we are the highest life form but will this be the case with an Artificial Intelligence that maybe able to overtake and transcend us.

Your thoughts please.

Problem with A.I is that there will be no soul and if there is no soul there is no true consciousness, no real death, no reincarnation and no salvation (mukthi). Therefore in terms of Sikhi its irrelevant as we humans would be its creators (Gods) and it wont be seen as a real organic living being that has trials and errors like humans do that Waheguru has programmed us all with according to my understanding of scriptures.

I wonder if that would be because they would not have emotions and therefore would be under the 5 vices.

I think that the difference between a human and an AI could be emotion.

But without emotion, could you still have sat, Santokh, pyar, nimrata, daya?

Could you be chardikala without emotion?

It could very well be that what make a human's flaws and virtues come from the very same place. Somewhat a double edged sword.

Would an AI not under the 5 thieves lack the 5 virtues?

If there were AI Sikhs, I think it would make human Sikhs re-evaluate what it would mean to be human, what it means to be Sikh and also our place in the universe.

isnt a sikh supposed to be in equipoise , in control of his/her emotions, all accepting of hukham , no man just bani , vichar ...i.e an interactive Guru Granth Sahib which could give Guru ji's faisla in all circumstances , give support to a family living far away from other sangat. akal Purakh is emotionless but does that make him less than able to be full of chardi kala

I thought AI was essentially complex algorithms to mimic 'expert' decision making processes.

I don't know how people have made the leap of it leading to some sentience?

Artificial intelligence is currently at the complex algorithms stage. But it is hoped/feared that AI will advance so far it can basically think on its own. So basically make our brains, which consist of neurons/wires passing on electrical signals, artificially using wires, electricity, and computers. I think we are very far from this. So far we have barely learnt how to make our hardware artificially i.e. cloning. And that is only by using premade essentiaL material: egg cells, DNA, and a womb. So to make our software artificially, is still far away.

    • the whole 'your husband/wife is chosen for you'/sanjog thing is real, it's just that a lot of people end up marrying the wrong person. they did not end up with the person that was meant for them. my friend, you should marry someone who you feel a connection with and love. there are millions of sikh girls, i'm sure you can find someone who aligns with your sensibilities and who you can truthfully say that you love. sikhi does not say anything against love marriages. you can also be in a loveless arranged marriage which is a safe option b/c both families are more inclined to keep the union intact. i was one of those people who was like meh, i guess i'll just get arranged to some sikh. well i finally started dating for the first time this year and i'm getting married to someone that i love and cannot even imagine leaving. i think it's better to have lost & lost than never loved at all. unfortunately, a lot of people confuse love w/ looks & lust. a lot of men go for the fittest girl they can find and think they won the jackpot or something. in reality, your partner should be like an extremely loved best friend. there's a reason why it's a fact that the most stable and long-lasting relationships started as friendships.  i also think a lot of women are petty and divorce over small reasons, but there's other terrible things like high cheating rates as well. that's why the divorce rate in the west is high. be careful out there.
    • andrew tate praises sikhi too & likes sikhs. his brother also donated to sikh families iirc. they just like any "alpha" religion and tbh islam is the most "alpha" in their eyes. islam is very good at promoting that image. but imo a real alpha man doesn't command respect by beating up his wive(s) or forcing them to wear a burqa. a real man will have his woman listen to him w/o raising a hand or his voice, and command respect by being respectful. he leads by example and integrity. that's true masculinity. you get the idea. + yes, it's definitely true that islam is growing rapidly and making massive inroads. strength in numbers + belief will do that. but rlly it's just because of the birth rate. a lot of them are muslim b/c it's their "identity" just like how a lot of young sikhs will say they're "culturally sikh" or whatever. there just aren't billions of sikhs who lambast their identity everywhere and have strict and linear rules like in islam. besides, the reality is that islam and its followers are some of the most morally bankrupt. you can see all the weird trans rules in iran, bacche baazi in afghanistan, visiting brothels, watching p*rn, p*dophilia what goes on behind the scenes in countries like uae & qatar, etc, and come to your conclusions. you can google all the stats yourself and see which countries do the most of these ^.
    • stop associating with hinduism, that's the absolutely worst thing you can do as a sikh. not sure if you noticed but the entire world looks down upon and spits at india & hindus, literally no one respects them and considers them weak and cowardly. literally 1+ billion of them but not perceived as a strong religion commandeering respect.
    • you wrote a whole lot but told us nothing. what exactly did you do wrong to make you feel this way?
