Does anyone know of any Gurbani which describes the shape of the world?

Why?

Also, why do you want a Gurbani line to tell you? I mean, do you require a Gurbani tuk to tell you that grass is green and the sky is blue? You could just look.

I don't know if there is, but why does it matter? Is this an attempt to compete with Muslims or other religions that try to prove themselves with science?

Best answer. The Muslims come out with their interminable essays about Allah, science and the Koran. And embryology and so forth. Who cares?

Yeah, I've always considered Sikhi to be above that kind of base, point-scoring nonsense that certain other faiths enjoy peddling in order to legitimise their teachings.

Agreed.

I think the other faiths do that in reverse proportion to the amount of spirituality that they have (or that subgroups within those faiths have).

"If our Gurus were mulling over what two men got up to behind closed doors and then passing edicts on such matters, instead of focusing on revealing the universal truths of humanity and divinity, as well as conducting the incessant fight for survival in the face of the hostile and barbaric Islamic rule of those times, I'd seriously have to question their godliness, lol.

Sorry to hear you say that, bro.

For a tough-nosed realist, it's surprising to see you cheering on exactly the sort of social ills that have lead to Western society dying. I mean, they can't even reproduce themselves.

As far as "closed doors", you certainly know that God is concerned with what goes on behind closed doors, right?

I surely hope that God is godly? What gives, bro?

I was being facetious, i.e. sarcastic.

To be fair, you quoted something that's not exactly recent, and I've developed my opinions and thoughts on the subject since that time. So, while I don't believe throwing them off buildings, stoning them, or whatever course of action others might look to as a solution, is acceptable, IMO medieval homosexuality was a non-issue for non-gay society. (The same can't be said for the propaganda-driven "acceptance" movement hounding contemporary society.)

Therefore, of ALL the immediate and pressing issues facing the Punjabi people during the times of our Gurus, if they had prioritised two men bumming each other, wouldn't that strike you as base and unsophisticated thinking? Would you not begin to wonder that, out of all the myriad problems facing humans at that time, what exactly prompted that particular subject to emerge as a frontrunner on which we needed to be directed? It's the kind of thought a flawed human prioritises as important, not an incarnation of God.

Perhaps when the issue of survival has been settled and the pressing matters of freedom, justice, and spirituality have all been established, then I might agree with expanding the field of discussion into other minor areas of conduct, but in a period of history when Sikh children were being dismembered and their limbs were being chained and hung as necklaces around their mother's necks, I'd begin to worry if the prevailing sentiment emanating from divine leadership was about how to curb the gay.

Guru ji tells us in Japji Sahib ji:

ਤਿਥੈ ਖੰਡ ਮੰਡਲ ਵਰਭੰਡ ॥

तिथै खंड मंडल वरभंड ॥

In that realm there are continents, worlds and solar systems.

Je ko kathai ṯa anṯ na anṯ.

if some one tries to describe them, he should know that there are no limits or bounds of them.

Ŧithai lo▫a lo▫a ākār.

There are universes upon universes and creations over creations.

Jiv jiv hukam ṯivai ṯiv kār.

As is the Master's mandate, so are their functions.

vekẖai vigsai kar vīcẖār.

The Lord beholds His creation and feels happy by contemplating over it.

Nānak kathnā karṛā sār. ||37||

O Nanak! to describe the realm of truth is hard like iron.
