There’s a sakhi of a man who became gursikh under the direction of Baba Harnam Singh. This man was mute, deaf and disabled. He was taught to do naam simran and seva. Within six months he was able to speak, listen and walk. He spent many years there and reached the spiritual stage where he could do naam japna in his sleep and hear the anhad shabad. He went to stay with family, and became engrossed in TV. He would watch nonstop and forget his naam simran. Very soon after he could no longer hear the anhad shabad nor do naam japna in his sleep.

TV can be used for education and information. It can be used to listen to paath and kirtan. It can also be used to spread misinformation and to take us away. Most of us will have been brought up with TV in our lives. It is an addiction that must be controlled. I now watch maybe an hour or two a week on average.

true it is like saying, should we have friends, it depends on the friends,

and should we eat food, depends on the food.

wow that was such a good answer.

I'm proud of myself.

is sex and nudity not allowed in Sikhism.

Well obviously sex and nudity is allowed in Sikhism how else are you supposed to make baby sikhs for the future.

but by watching sex and nudity you are only filling up your mind with kaami thoughts, your feeding your mind with the wrong stuff. Actions first develop in the mind and then become physical acts. Guru ji has told us to do the opposite and clean our mind of such things.

Go about 2 weeks or more without watching or listening to kaami stuff and instead meditate and you will experience a difference.    Tv makes your mind foggy.

Depends on who answer this question

  • Person who follows full rehat will have the answer to avoid it.
  • person who struggles daily to follow rehat watches tv regularly but would like to limit it.
  • person who is not aware of basic gurus teaching will argue that there is nothing wrong  watching tv.
