It is one thing if you are a strong confident man by yourself ,it is another thing if you have people with you are more vulnerable.

There are parts of New York that have been gentrified (like parts of London have) but it is far rougher than even than what you grew up with.

I used to live in SE London  (pretty rough with those lovely Millwall Supporters) but it is Disneyland compared to parts of New York.

There are parts of Queens where you'd get killed for 10 dollars just so that the perpetrator can get some food.

Their Subway system makes our tube system look like the Orient Express.

Well how comes the murder rate in London has outdone theirs recently then?

I get what you are saying though. I don't argue that it isn't a dangerous place. The lack of social services and racialised culture is only going to bring out the savage in people. If you create a dog eat dog society, then the consequences are inevitable.  The open availability of guns makes the game totally different - but that could go both ways. Many of our lot there have an aversion to them apparently. Which is ironic given dasmesh pita's hukams.

But, all that being said, communities do make reputations for themselves and a sort of informal pecking order forms. Truth is, apnay have no rep out there. I sort of twigged that decades ago when I played GTA on xbox, and the turban wearing yellow cab drivers were characterised as wimpy cowards. Even though these things are caricatures, they are based somewhat on perceptions that are commonly held. Then seeing the slew of NY cab drivers that were battered in usually drunk 'race' attacks just confirmed it. Just the other week I inadvertently saw some NY music video, and even in there it had some cab passenger black guy acting aggressively towards (what was obviously) a made up apna (with a fancy pagh) and slapping his pagh. This is probably based on things that people see there relatively frequently? It's become so normalised in perceptions it's entered popular culture over there.

The thing is New York has had a zero tolerance policy for the last couple of decades.

There are far worse cities than New York for murder rates.

And by the way GTA is a British made game. I don't know how you can base some experience on a video game.

Most of those Sikhs that live in NY live in particular boroughs, predominantly Queens. They avoid Brooklyn and the Bronx. Once they get established they move out to the suburbs like Long Island or New Jersey or Westchester County.

The Sikhs there just bide their time and play the long game before they move out.

The NY blacks are far rougher than London blacks. They are like animals.

Nah, it's not just that. I've had relationships with people and family who either go out there regularly or have family there. I know the score.

I worked in a law firm decades ago with lawyers coming and going from NY and even then they told me NY is much safer than London back then - and London didn't have the murder rate it does now, then.

Plus your perception of the blacks out there is subjective: I have a relative who goes there all the time for business and he tells me different to you. I'm sure they are rougher and used to more violence than many blacks here, but they aren't just animals. Humans are more complex than that.

I have just posted a link on the murder rates. Hopefully the admin will let it through.

If you have seen the way some of the blacks are like there you'd realise.

Most of our people out there (The ones that live on the East Coast) do not like them that much.

I wonder if I'd actually like most of our lot out there myself. lol

I know what some black people are like. Come on, we've got our own overbearing, bullying ar5eholes too though - especially in the pends.

Lol, love how the race based fear finally hijacked this thread.

Look, bro, we're a small community without any big protector (like Israel has with the US). We get hit from all sides. A frank discussion of threats is warranted for a vulnerable community such as ours.

Multiple posters (including me) have said that it's not about demonizing any one community. I admit some of the rhetoric was overheated.

In addition, the brother who was just walking down the street was not doing anything to the toughs who attacked him. We've not targeted people based on their race. That's been done to us (the white neo-Nazi in  the Wisconsin gurdwara shooting, these people in Harlem, the Hispanics in California who killed some of our bazurgs).

The point is not hate others or to stage reprisal killings; it's just to stay safe.

I agree with that. Happened here too. Saying they're like animals isn't appropriate. Look up harlem renaissance.

Post 911 islamaphobia often affected and still effects Sikhs, just doesn't have anything to do with blackness. The fact it instantly turns to racist fear based thinking is a reflection on other posters. Not a single opportunity to finger point at black people goes unmissed and that's a sickness you all have to work out. By all means protect the Panth.
