And, yes, I agree with what @Ranjeet01has posted, although a little exaggerated it might be - it seems to be well accepted thought in society that women rarely marry 'below'

Someone can marry a Punjabi, doesn’t mean they’d stop being racist towards them. In the same way a Jatt could marry a chamar but still hold views of superiority. Just go on social media and see all the gandh in our community.
