Am curious, about a Sakhi I heard a few times at Gurdwara/ radios. When Guru Amar Das Ji went to visit Guru Angad Dev Ji for the first time, Baba Amar Ji thought "I will consider Guru Angad a true Guru if he knows am a vegetarian." In langar they sat close to each other and the second Guru said, to the sevadar serving food "Bhai Ji. Serve Baba Amar Das vegetarian items only," then Baba Amar Das was convinced this IS the real deal, the true Guru Sahib. QUESTION!!! Doesn't this mean meat was being served in langar up to Guru Angad Dev Ji's Guruship?

What are the sangats beliefs in Dusht Daman Guru Gobind Singh Ji's previous life? I heard someonw once say he was a monarch not a rishi. Also I remember hearing Katha of Sant Jarnail Singh Ji talking about Mata Sahib Kaur's previous life. If anyone has the Katha or info about Mata Ji's pervious life please share.

Recently there was a big discussion on Dasam Granth and its authority. Shortly after that I was sent this Sakhi by a veer; which I'm attaching. If you find it difficult to read it - just copy the text into a word document, and it'll become easier to read it THIS IS NOT THE PLACE TO DISCUSS DASAM GRANTH. I only want to share this sakhi; in order to get the sangats opinion on the sakhi. Also for kids under 14 - please cover your eyes with your hands while reading the file :D I personally find a few weaknesses, as to why I doubt it's real. 1 - Due to the lacks shown in Guru Sahib (indicates he wasn't all knowing - i.e didn't know what he was getting in to 2- Due to…

My friend wants to ask what precautions and maryadas should be followed while doing a sehaj paath in a personal room from Sechni Sahib. I am not sure if senchi sahib is an appropriate word an by that I mean the 2 poothi sahib of Guru Granth Sahib ji Maharaj. Can someone write in details how to start and how the both Poothis should be kept and where. I remembered once someone did sehaj paath from Senchies and later someone said it is not counted as a sehej paath because it is not directly done from Guru Granth Sahib ji's pavan Swarrop. I am so confused.

In 1984, Brahma Chellaney was a 27-year old correspondent for the wire service, Associated Press. He had managed to defy the media blackout in the summer of 1984 to stay on in Amritsar, becoming the only foreign correspondent to cover Operation Blue Star. His story, front-paged in major international publications like The Times of London on June 14 that year, reported that over 1200 people — militants, civilians and security personnel — had died during the operation. This was double the official figures. Mr. Chellaney also highlighted the ‘presence of sophisticated weapons’ in the arsenal of the militants. But the second element which angered the establishment w…

Akali Phula Singh a 'sort of night templar' Akali Phula Singh depicted on ivory Akali Phula Singh, the head of the Akal Takht and the Akali Nihangs was suspicious of the British and for good reason."Whilst Mr. Metcalfe and his escort remained at Amritsar, our Musselman sepoys, not being prohibited it appears, made aTazea for the usual celebration of the Mahurrum, a ceremony interdicted in the Punjab, and held in abhorrence by all the bigoted followers of Guroo Govind. One Phoola Sing, a leader of Acalis, or Immortals, a sort of Knight Templars(1) among the Sikhs, attempted, at the head of his band, to cut up the party in a night attack. Captain Ferguson was s…

Ranjit Singh the Maharajah of Panjab had full faith in both Scriptures: Guru Granth Sahib and Sri Dasam Granth Sahib. He undertook Vak from Guru Granth Sahib before undertaking his military expeditions. He also commissioned manuscript copies of the Sikh Granths by artisans in his court and beyond. He also ensured that the Granth Sahibs were carried on his expeditions. The following quote by Mufti ‘Ali’ ud-Din shows the respect that was paid to the Granth Sahibs in the Sikh empire:The maharaja maintained an elaborate establishment of Bhais (Sikh priests), one or two of whom held the charge of every Sikh shrine in the Punjab. There was a separate estate attached to every sh…
