Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa , Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh ! Khalsa Aid is honoured to be involved in the Langar organised by the University College London Sikh Society. We were approached by Pashmina Kaur Kohli from the UCLSikh Society to participate in an evening of talks based on Seva. We heard about the Langar and immediately offered to assist in any way we could. We are grateful to Ramgharia Sikh Temple ( Slough ), in particular to the Gurdwara President Amarjit Singh Bachu for providing 100kg worth of Gujrella and The Sikh Missionary Society ( Southall ) for cooking 2 giant patilas of Aloo Gobi !! Udasi Priests

WGJKK WGJKF, I had read somewhere that for over 100 years after Guru Gobind Singh ji's death, udasi priests had protected and maintained sikh holy shrines such as Takht Hazur Sahib, Anandpur and Amritsar. Also i read that the udasis had: "established schools of learning to keep the Sikh tradition alive." What i don't quite understand is why udasi priests were maintaining these holy places of worship? I also don't quite understand why they were keeping the sikh traditon alive? Surely that was the job of the sikhs of the time? Surely the sikhs of Guru Gobind Singh ji were more than capable of protecting and maintaining these holy places of worship and keeping the Sik…

Here is a fascinating photograph It was taken at the original Shepherd's Bush Gurdwara(Sinclair Rd London) - on the Guru Nanak Janam Diwas Gurpurb - 18 November 1937. On display are a myriad of turban styles , smart suits, waist-coats and watch chains. There are little boys in turbans and short trousers, ladies in sarees and fur coats. However what makes this image fascinating is Udham Singh Shaheed standing right at the back. Udham Singh shot O'Dwyer a year later on 13 march 1940. The image includes leading lights, students, workers- all 'classes' though the majority are described in the photo's caption as 'Singhs from the Bhatra Biradari' ( the central two rows…

Shorthand notes of the Statement made by Udham Singh after the Judge had asked him if he had anything to say as to why sentence should not be passed upon him according to Law. Facing the Judge, he exclaimed, 'I say down with British Imperialism. You say India do not have peace. We have only slavery. Generations of so called civilization has brought for us everything filthy and degenerating known to the human race. All you have to do is read your own history. If you have any human decency about you, you should die with shame. The brutality and bloodthirsty way in which the so called intellectuals who call themselves rulers of civilization in the world are of <admin-pro…

I've seen many UFO sighting videos on YouTube and a whole bunch of documentaries on aliens visiting planet Earth for thousands, if not, millions of years with their highly advanced space crafts and technology. There have even been pictures drawn by ancient egyptions on walls showing beings that do not look human, visiting this planet. There is also the pyramids of egypt. Many people believe that humans could have never been able to make such structures and that some kind of more advanced civilisation was behind it. But i saw this video from the YouTube channel "Gurmat Bibek" saying that it is impossible for people to travel to different planets through spa…

Uganda (February 10, 2014): The Uganda postal service Posta Uganda has commemorated 100 years of Sikh presence in the country by issuing four postage stamps. The four stamps depicted the gurdwara on Sikh Road, Kampala; the Khanda, the Nishan Sahib and the Darbar Sahib in Amritsar. This is the first time that a country has issued four triangular stamps in recognition of the contribution of the Sikh community. The stamps were released jointly by Posta Uganda and invited members of the Sikh community, with high court judge Lady Justice Catherine Bagumeriere as the chief guest. Chief of Posta Uganda Emmanuel Okurt said the triangular stamps would market Uganda to Asia…

Read news below - its a report on BBC news front page that schools will be allowed to ban full face veils..... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/education/6466221.stm Schools allowed to ban face veils Schools will be able to ban pupils from wearing full-face veils on security, safety or learning grounds under new uniforms guidance set to be issued. In February, a 12-year-old girl failed in her High Court attempt to overturn her Buckinghamshire school's niqab ban. Ministers promised revised guidance for England taking that into consideration. It says efforts should be made to accommodate religious clothing but stresses the importance of teachers and pupils being able …

http://www.samachar.com/showurl.php?rurl=h...eyword=bbc_home Seven men have been jailed for up to 26 years over an al-Qaeda-linked plot to kill thousands in the UK and US. Woolwich Crown Court heard they were in a "sleeper cell" led by Dhiren Barot, who is already serving a life sentence. Barot planned attacks including blowing apart a London Underground tunnel and bombings using an explosives-packed limousine and a dirty radiation device. Six of the men admitted conspiracy to cause explosions and a seventh was found guilty of conspiracy to murder. Counter-surveillance In the plot, countered by police in Operation Rhyme, the men played support…

So the UK makes a deal with the Saudis to vote for each other so they can both secure places on the UN Human Rights Commissions. Even though Saudi hasone of the worst human rights records in the world, human rights take a back seat when trade deals and western interests are up for grabs. Is anyone surprised ? Then you wonder why the enquiry into British involvement in the 1984 Harmandar Sahib attack was 'white washed " and shut down... http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2015/sep/29/uk-and-saudi-arabia-in-secret-deal-over-human-rights-council-place
