VahegurujikaKhalsa, VahegurujikiFateh! UK Gurdwaras condemn disrespect of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Representatives of UK Gurdwaras met at Nanaksar Gurdwara, Pleck, Walsall this Saturday (27 November 2004) to agree a way forward for treating Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji with due respect. During the past year, many weddings have taken place in hotels, halls etc which contain bars, serve meat and have dance halls. Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji has been called 'just a book...'. The British Library have 'displayed' a saroop of Guru ji as if it were simply an art object. Further, a Muslim owned printers in Bradford has started printing saroop of Guru ji without any consideration for…

With reference to the article below published in last weeks Eastern Eye. The article is typical Asian media sensationalisation. The article was not balanced and has levelled criticism at Sikhs and Muslims, where the two groups, should have been given an opportunity to comment on the allegations made against them. It would be interesting to know of the examples of supposed Sikh attacks on the Hindus in the UK and what the basis of the assumption is! Quote from article. 'Heena Patel, spokeswoman for Shakti Marg, said: “The police do nothing to help us with cases where Sikh extremists attack Hindus or when Islamic groups try to forcibly convert some students. As long as Hi…

VJKK VJKF An amritdhari singh got arrested in the library last week after someone saw his kirpan. When police arrived the singh tried explaining that he is allowed by law. However it seemed that the officier did not know what a sikh is, and was unaware of any law. The singh wouldnt let them touch his kirpan. so they called for back up and in the end the singh got arrested with hand cuffs and leg straps as he refused to let them touch it. The singh is chardikala and does alot of seva in the north east of england, hes probably in his early 50's. So some singhs have contacted the police to complain. We are planning to hold a meeting with the officer involved and also a se…

Was just reading the Laws governing Dastar in UK, and how they might apply to Singhni in UK that wore Dastar? The main line in contention is: "(2A) A requirement imposed by regulations under this section (whenever made) shall not apply to any follower of the Sikh religion while he is wearing a turban. Any thoughts? An Act to exempt turban-wearing followers of the Sikh religion from the requirement to wear a crash-helmet when riding a motor-cycle. (15th November 1976) BE IT ENACTED by the Queen's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the sa…

who voted? who for and did the people you vote for win? The borough close to me has lost 2 sikh labour counsellers, I believe due to: 1) tactical voting by large number of muslims in their masjids been told to vote for muslim candidates from the "respect party". 2) Like all counsellers they took for granted the votes of the people, didnt do much yet on the day they were begging for votes going from door to door. The borough of barking and dagenham has elected 12 bnp (the racist party) counsellers, what will it mean for non-whites britons who reside in the area?
