Apologies to everyone who have seen this already. It is not strictly Sikhi related but I wanted to highlight how even a Chinese guy can speak fluent Punjabi yet many people in the West especially kids struggle with stringing a simple sentence together.

MA correspondence course in Religious Studies. Sometime back some people were asking if there is a correspondence course that leads to a university certificate in Sikh Studies. Most people on this forum may already know this, I have come across this at the web site of Sikh Missionary Society U.K (http://www.gurmat.info/ an associated website of Sikh Sangat com) . A couple of years ago I had 2 Indian Shia Muslim flat mates who were both brothers. It was amazing to learn how much similarity Shia Islam has with Sikhi, except ofcourse for the mourning part. After reading this piece of news, I have began respecting Indian Shia Muslims even more.

Today I made a very heavy, easily avoidable and massively stupid error which will probably prove fatal to me. There is this girl at school who I want to be friends with. Shes smart and serious. I like her. Today a few individuals at school found out. By tomorrow probably she will know, but this thought just struck me; I am looking for a girlfriend when it's not allowed. What do I do? What do I say to her tomorrow and above all how do I repent in the Guru's eyes? Basically my peers managed to get this stupid thing out of me, I like her.

Leaving aside Guru ji, the general question of taking afeem (opium) in limited quantities for war/medical wounds is simply unproblematic. When you go to the hospital, they give you morphine. What do you think morphine is? It's an opiate. Even codeine (cough syrup) is an opiate! Ever had a cough? Granted, it is against Gurmat to take opium or other drugs for the fun of it. -
Yeah, that's one possibility. Another I initially thought is that it's a Muslim trying to gather info. But then, you might ask, how does he know about Sikh textual sources. Well, you'd be surprised at their resourcefulness. A final possibility is he's a weak Sikh who was asked a question by a non-Sikh and now he's suddenly feverishly wondering where it's "written" that you can't marry a young child. To the latter, I would say, you're looking in the wrong spot. back then was waaaay different. ppl didn’t attend higher education or have much to do after the age of like… 13, lol. you’d have 13 year olds boys and girls that know how to do kethi, cook entire meals, etc nowadays even 22 year olds are extremely immature and can be sheltered. the average person doesn’t know how to do anything except their 9-5 which they are probably half arsing as well.
