Okay. I have been thinking about this for a while. I am at an age where my friends are getting married and I am thinking about my future in terms of married life. A little while to go and my parents will start pushing it! But for some time, I've been consciously thinking about how much I do not want to have children. What does Sikhism say regarding this? I know Guru Nanak Dev Ji said we should live among the world and part of that includes having kids and teaching them about Gurmat. What if I take the time out to teach other children Gurmat, at the Gurdwara perhaps? I am still teaching kids, but don't have to be burdening myself with my own. I don't want to have kids ju…

Vahiguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vahiguru Ji ki Fateh, I am based in central London, and I have always been drawn to Drupad / original raag gurmat sangeet kirtan but I have never had the confidence to pursue further. I am totally lost in terms of knowing where to go to seek help for learning and I would really want to become a student of a Ustaad / teacher and dedicate myself to being a loyal student. The other major fact and element is that I am financially not secure currently and do not have enough finances to fund private expensive lessons and would humbly ask to be taught for free or at a very reduced amount of price of funds if need be. …

There was a discussion here a few days ago...I think it was in the wedding photo thread...about Sikh / Punjabi fashion. I was never terribly into fashion myself...to the great disspointment of my dad who to this day still has his bon marley stylee Gabbicci knit-ganzee cardigan hanging in his wardrobe. But the internet, Joobie tube, instabook, face chat, snap crack and popple are absolutely jam-packed these days with Singhs and Kaurs displaying their 'style'. We're overloaded with dastar wearing girls posing in shots showing how stylish and fashionable they look and it seems a Singh can't be a proper singh and get his picture on the world-wide web thingy these days unless …

A 3HO gurdwara is pushing for anand Karaj between LBTQ couples. It won’t be long before others start pushing for this. Then peer pressure will force Akaal Takht to make changes. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=3956534031039873&id=492641860762458&_ft_=mf_story_key.3956534031039873%3Atop_level_post_id.3956534031039873%3Atl_objid.3956534031039873%3Acontent_owner_id_new.492641860762458%3Athrowback_story_fbid.3956534031039873%3Apage_id.492641860762458%3Aphoto_id.3956531067706836%3Astory_location.4%3Astory_attachment_style.photo%3Atds_flgs.3%3Apage_insights.{"492641860762458"%3A{"page_id"%3A492641860762458%2C"page_id_type"%3A"page"%2C"actor_id"%3A4…

Fateh Khalsa Ji, As expected, being a girl who wears a dastar and keeps her kesh, I get the weirdest looks ever wherever I go. I thought that amongst my flats people would just get used to me but that's not the case. Some boys in particular give me really weird looks. I thought my flatmates were all cool, they never say anything to my face. I know they find it weird that I get up early, they find it weird that I'm a virgin, and stuff like that. A couple of weeks ago I walked into the living room to get some paani and my flatmate was lying on the sofa under a blanket with some guy... they both looked at each other and laughed the whole time I was in the room; I thought,…

I married my wife last year and she has been in the UK with me for the past 8 months. she is from india I am from the UK. 95% of the time everything is fine BUT the other 5% ..... we have arguments, not shouting or screaming but phases where we don't talk properly to each other for a few days. usually its about trival things, like for example, she will say something 'i asked you to do something this morning, remember' and i'll say 'no sorry, i don't remember, what was it' and her response will be 'i am not telling you'.. then i will spend 10 mins asking her and she will either not say anything or will say 'i am not telling you' then i'll get angry and say something an…

Guru Granth Sahib forbids eating of halal or any meat killed according to ritual beliefs. Muslims have successfully lobbied to get most of the restuarants even in Sikh populated areas to serve only Halal food. However, it hurts me to see keshdhari Sikhs sitting in Shwarma place and other Pakistani joints happily eating Halal food. When you talk to them, they plead ignorance. These are the same Sikhs who tend to lecture other mona Sikhs about keeping kesh. Why are they not following the tenants and protesting about the creeping Halal everywhere? Our school where 50% of the students are Sikh now serve Halal hot dogs because of only 5% Muslims. None of the Sikhs care about t…

We feel alot more support and acceptance is required and sevadars need to more true to the principles of Sikhi when we visit the Gurdwara. My beautiful, brave, courageous son has severe learning difficulties and autism. He is 7 years old and is non-verbal and with Waheguru's kirpa we have blessed with remarkable progress in his development. I have been told to 'develope a thick skin' and be more in my Sikhi when I ask for support - these alongside with the disgusting looks we get are very unhelpful. My son has expressed an interest in his Sikhi (enjoys watching images of our beloved Guru Ji's and listens to short bursts of Japji Sahib on his Ipad). I know my son's beh…
