Waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh I have been practicing sikhi for a while now, I do nitnim everyday and I do naam simran as well everyday. I am still living at home with my parents who do not approve of me taking amrit and I have chosen to respect them on this until I move out and find my own place. In the meantime however, I have been living the life of an amritdhari essentially and this includes wearing a kirpan and I feel as though if they don't wish me to actually take amrit I can at least do as much as I can to be prepared when I do finally take it. I recently saw some posts on here that suggest that you can't wear a kirpan without being an amritdhari …

Extreme byadbi

Last weekend, I attended gurdwara Babe Ke in UK birmingham where around 40-50 Singh Sahibs attended because serious byadbi had occurred. This is the most serious case of byadbi in the world and that is no exagerration. This matter has not received much attention because sangat are worried about the serious concern it will cause, but it has to be aired in the global Sikh panth commuity. It feels like people are trying to cover it up!! Lots of Guru-Sahib-Saroops were kept at the gurdwara in a dark cold room which the committee referred to as a sachkand. The room was ridden with rodents. Bibiya said they found mouse poo in the place where gutkas were stored. There was l…

We often hear about how we as Asians non-Sikhs feel sorry for the ingenious white people indigenous Sikhs of the UK east Punjab due to the perceived take over there by ethnic minorities non-Sikhs Ie Britian east Punjab, in certain areas have become a white Sikh minority population areas like Doaba. ie before the last 50 years whites Sikhs were the clear majority in the UK then newly created smaller east Punjab. But now they are becoming the minority in their own tiny homeland. (Shock horror) But should we feel sorry for our pale skinned long haired friends? After all it was these peoples Sikhs who did no parchar about the truth of Sikhi. They ne…

I once read how Prince Nau Nihal Singh was crowned Maharaja of Punjab after the death of his father Kharak Singh, but after a few hours of being crowned a stone/bricks fell in his head and after a few hours he was dead. Even then there were speculations of it being a planned murder. I think it's pretty obvious that it was murder. Soon after his mother chand kaur took over and became empress. He was 19 years old and had a son, not sure what happened to his son ... I don't anyone ever got to the bottom of this incident though I think there was an "investigation" I think if it was a murder then the obvious choices are either the British or the dogra brothers. …

When should Amrit be taken?
by Guest Guest- 1 reply

Waheguru Ji Ki Khalsa. Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh I’m planning to are Amrit and I was womdering how long I should wait to take Amrit. Currently I have learned to read Gurmukhi and I do all my 7 banis. I am also practicing to tie a dastar. My hair is only 7 inches and I use a hair extension to make it longer, are hair extensions are allowed in Sikhi? I have not started to practice wearing my 5 Ks yet. I do not eat meat or eggs. Also, does a Amrit Sanchar have to happen on vaisakhi or any day? If it can happen on any day how would you sign up for it or what would you do?

hair cut

I am 26 year old . I have not cut my hairs or bread ever till date, but now after so many years i feel disillusioned with sikhism ( in general all religion). I lost my youth under constraints like not smoking, and having low self confidence. Even now i struggle with my life on academic front. In my circle i have Sikh friends getting hair cut but they are not punished by god for that act. life goes as it was before .

Sikh Cuisine was a thing in 1960s London - What happened to it?

Now this is about as random as they come - and I should post it in my 'random historical photos' thread but they've taken my rights away to post photos on old threads - but it's kinda weird because I've had this photo in my collection for years (dont ask - I collect tidbits about the history of London. Sad - I know ☹️ but never noticed before what kind of cuisine this restaurant was serving. 'Sikh Cuisine'. This one is from the 1960s in Brook Street in upper crust Mayfair just around the corner from the former American Embassy. Got me thinking though - with the early 1900s British studies on the Sikh Diet and the 1960s published data on how Sikh children born in the UK w…

This morning after amritvela, after i done ardas, i lay in bed, and there was a bag near my bed , i was staring at it, and someone was slowly opening the zip and closing it, i couldn't see anything but it kept happening, i didn't know what to do so i just reached the bag and started shakin it, then i woke up and realised it was a dream although it felt so real. This kind of thing always happens after amritvela, when i lay in bed. Its always different things. Sometimes its someone on my bed jumping, poking me, pulling my pillow, hitting me. There was one time where i felt alot of pain. i never ever see anything but feel the movement and energy. The dreams seem so real beac…
