Hi everyone, I live in a Europe with a small punjabi community. My parents were finding a rishta for me but could not meet the requirements (no alcohol, meat, educated, no clubbing, and some requirements of family). Over the years i got introduced by my family to someone in America who does meet the basic requirements. At first it felt really nice and how it seemed meant to be (during my study times) but since I start working on my career I am doubting if I can make this overseas step. A few weeks back someone told my parents about a guy here, they did some background check and seems like a fine boy. However he eats meat but as he cooks on his own, he said I d…

So as a teenager, hormones are in full effect. And I’m not going to act like there aren’t beautiful girls around the world I feel attracted to. I am confused on masturbation, is it fine to do in Sikhism? I know that the main problem everyone has with masturbation is Lust. And from seeing different opinions from people, I am confused. Lust is the bad part because it makes you forget Naam. But doesn’t watching YouTube or a movie make you technically forget Naam too? The first thing I do in the morning is to pray to God and talk with God. Everyday I feel like I remember God and Naam. So I am confused on what is bad about masturbation done moderately. If forgetting Naam is a …

waheguru jio I'm female who has taken amrit recently and feel very fortunate to have done so. Before I was amritdhari, I used to remove some facial hair and was always complemented for my clear/glowing skin. In no means do I want to remove any hair, but instead want to know how I can look after my face without removing hair but make sure my face is still glowing that any hair on my face is neat for example, how to i look after unplucked eyebrow hair .. I've stopped bleaching my upperlip after a few months of amrit and that has changed my face a little too. My main motive is to look presentable as a mid aged sikh woman without drifting away from my si…

Sikh photos from the 19th century. These are some of the earliest photos of Sikhs and Gurdwareh Harmandir Sahib 1857-1858 At the back you can see the lost palace with the tall arches, which is believed to be Maharaja Ranjit Singhs palace. It was later demolished by the British and was replaced by the Gothic clock tower! 1859 1862 the british gothic tower under construction 1870s 1870s 1880s, you can see all the bungas on the parikarma, most of these belonged to the sikh misls and the sardars of maharaja ranjit singhs darbar 1850s …

Do the ideas of Nations & Borders fit in a Sikh framework? 1 2

Waheguru ji ka khalsa, Waheguru ji ki fateh! Sangat ji I have had this kinda weird thought for quite some time. I just don't believe in the idea on nations and borders. After all it's all politics. I believe they are a by-product of cultures. But Sikhi teaches to recognise the entire human race as one and the same irrespective of religion, ethnicity, race and color, and in doing so to live with peace and harmony with everyone. So IDEALLY, there would be no need for borders if everyone lives peacefully. (This has led me to not feel any sort of "nationality" for the country I live in, but that's a whole another issue) I know Utopia does not exist, but I'm almost i…

So, i was looking at websites such as Islam-Sikhism and they mention Charitrapakhyan alot which is from Dasam Granth. Please discuss it because i can't see any forums doing so and this absence can cause preachers from other faiths to attack Sikhi. Some people say that Charitrapakhyan is contradictory to the message in Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

—— and Lust?
by Guest Unknown Sikh- 4 replies

So allow me to introduce my self (anonymously) I am a 16 year old boy. In Sikhism Lust is considered a sin. But I have been confused. People say ——- is wrong because of Lust. Lust is a sin because it takes your mind away from God, basically it makes you forget about God. And that is why it is considered a sin. And that is why I don’t ————-. But, I am confused because if Lust is considered a sin because it makes you forget about God, then isn’t technically anything that makes you forget God a sin? For example When I play video games, I tend to forget about God, but not permanently, I forget about God while playing video games, but playing video games isn’t a sin. But Lust …

Waheguru ji ka khalsa Waheguru ji ki fathe I once went for a massage, but did not realise it wasn't an authentic place until later. ——- deleted——— I Am confused whether this is considered as par istree da sang or not. Whether I should confess to panj pyare and take amrit again? I took hukamnama To clear my doubt Ang 595 Sorath m 1 ghar 1 Man haali kirsanni karnni saram paanni tan khet. Please let me know your views. Because there is a amrit sanchar happening tomorrow in the nearby gurudwara.
