  1. Why, pray tell, are women not allowed to do Paath? I always thought that, you know, Starting with Guru Nanak that men and women were equal. But since you personally disagree with this, I guess they were wrong and you are right. Good job.

  2. UKLondonSikh ji - I feel that we as the awakened members of the Khalsa (I say this as we question and discuss without fear or malice) are at the brink of a magnificent Sikhi renaissance (especially the joint worldwide thinking via the internet) where the spark ignited by Bhai Rajoana ji is vibrating our urge for the REAL Guru Khalsa. We want CHANGE we want UNITY but above ALL we want SIKHI to flourish. I want something to happen in my lifetime and not miss out and enjoy the presence of a blessed Sadh Sangat Ji as given to us by Dhan Dhan Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

  4. A young child before going to bed whines for sugar filled cookies. Ask many times to eat the cookies from his mom. The young child mom continues to resist to give in, as she knows the conquences to giving sugar filled cookies. The mother has the explanation to why the young child should not eat the cookies, but the child keeps asking why not. The child hears the explanation over and over and does not want to hear or accept the reason. The young child starts to cry for the cookies and even try's to grab the cookies from the counter. The mother pulls them back and in an authoritative voice tells her young child, they can't have the cookies. The young child continues to cry and eventually screams and yells, but then runs off into their room. At this point for the young child, their mom is the worst person in the world and you hate her to some degree. One way or another many of us, if not all have gone through this. Whether buying candy, toys, or other things that the boss (mom) knows is not good for us. If you think back to these incidents and ask yourself was mom right, not to give the cookies to me? And you would say, yes because you understand now that eating the cookies would have caused problems for you in the future. But as a young child we don't understand why, even though it is explained to us a thousands of times. We might consider ourselves wise now for understanding worldly duties (not to eat cookies before you go to sleep), but what about when it comes to Gurbani? Our knowledge on Gurbani is very low, infact it's just the same as when we were kids and asking for thousands of choclate bars, only to find out later, we get some really bad stomach cramps. When we look at the 52 Hukams of Satguru Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sahib ji Maharaj or the Rehat Maryada given to us by the Punj Pyare, we look at it with the eyes of a young child because we don't have the knowledge to know any better. But we question, doubt some Hukams given, and then deny them to the point of not following. How are we any better than the young child we were once, yelling, screaming and kicking for something thats not good for us? The strict Rehat Maryada given to us is not there to hurt us, but once we practice and understand Gurbani deeper, we can understand why certain Hukams we previously questioned, were written and enforced. Just like out of love our moms didn't let us destroy our health. Our Guru out of love has given us instructions, so we can actually feel the love he gives and we can unite with him. If we continue to behave like young children, then eating many chocolate bars only gave us stomach cramps, but think about what the punishment for denying Satguru's Hukams would be? I witnessed something that Amritdhari sisters were doing today. They are well respected in the Sikh community and their actions were against Maharaj Rehat Maryada. It made me think....if such sisters have fallen victim to maya of this high degree, then I'm nothing infront of them and can fall victim to such low levels of maya in a second. After seeing such acts, a strict Rehat has become even more important to me.

  5. http://www.gurugranthsahibsewamission.org/index.html Guru Granth Sahib translation project launched Tribune News Service Mohali, November 25 The Tamil Nadu Governor, Mr Surjeet Singh Barnala, today launched a Rs 5 crore project that would involve the translation of Guru Granth Sahib into 12 different languages of the country. The project, undertaken by the Guru Granth Sahib Sewa Mission here, has been dedicated to the 400 years of the installation of the Granth. The work is expected to be completed by 2008. Scholars of 11 Indian languages apart from Hindi have been engaged for the purpose. The Punjab Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh, who was to accompany Mr Barnala, cancelled his visit. Talking to mediapersons, Mr Barnala appreciated the project saying he would ensure that the mission received funds from the Shatabdi Committee, of which he was a member. Mr Gurinder Pal Singh Dhanola, chief organiser of the project, said the mission would distribute 1 lakh copies of Japji Sahib in each of these languages free of cost. Another 1,000 copies of Guru Granth Sahib would be distributed free to established libraries and organisations in the country and abroad. Another 5,000 copies of Japji Sahib and Guru Granth Sahib in Hindi would also be distributed free of cost. The mission’s website, www.gurugranthsahibsewamission.org, was also launched by Mr Barnala. A monthly report of the mission would be posted on the website to ensure transparency in the working of the mission. Mr Dhanola said scholars considered masters in their language had bee n chosen for the work. Prof Vasant R. Kushtagi would be translating Guru Granth Sahib into Kannada, Prof R. Kannan into Tamil, Dr S. Mohanta Assamese, Dr N.C. Panda Oriya, Prof M. Shiva Ramamurti Telegu, Dr A.A. Ahluwalia Gujarati, Ms Ranjita Roy Bangla, Prof M.S. Vishambhram Malyalam and Bhai Devinder Pal Singh from Rampura would translate it into Urdu. Dr Dhanola explained that a master translation in English would be first compiled, which would be given to these scholars to work with. “We have five different English translations of Guru Granth Sahib. Text would be picked from all these to create a master copy, which would then be distributed for translation.” He added that a Hindi translation was already available and the mission would request for a copyright from its publishers, he said. Mr Mewa Singh Sidhu of Punjab Agro represented the Chief Minister at the function and assured the mission all help. --------------------------- From their website: Guru Granth Sahib Sewa Mission has taken up the enormous task of transliteration of the Baani of Sri Guru Granth Sahibji in 12 regional languages on India viz., Kanadda, Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil, Oriya, Assamese, Bengali, etc. Schoalrs of these languages are working with us round-the-clock for tranliterating the Baani after thorough discussion of each word with Sikh scholars and highly enlightened religious people.

  6. We all say that Bhai Balwant Singh Ji Rajoana has woken up the whole Sikh Nation/Kaum, Since Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindrawale woke it up last in the 1980s. We all know Bhai Balwant Singh Ji Rajoana looks upto Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindrawale. With that said, do you think it's time to air all of Sant Ji's video speeches on Sikh Channel and Sangat TV? What possible reason would we have for not viewing them as we are currently awake with the Kesri Lehar (ipledge orange) revolution? What better way to keep the lehar going then Sant Ji's speeches. (before anyone starts... we are just talking about listening to the truth Sant Ji spoke, we are not asking for an armed struggle or anything). We all argue about what caused the problems in the 80s and 90s in Punjab and Dehli. Well Sant Ji speeches tell us everything in a clear and concise manner, so why don't we put them on our channels, both channels! I think, both channels should air them as we don't want another split between the channels, so we want both channels to air Sant Ji’s speeches. Please can you give your positive views on this thread as if this thread becomes 'HOT' we could all have the great pleasure and privilege of watching Sant Ji's speeches on both channels! Please do add to the thread, even if it's just with a great big 'YES'

The Lareevar Katha started in Leicester on Jan 05 2008 and is still currently being expounded. I am compressing the audio currently and will be putting them onto a 4shared website as I dont think any sites will be interested in hosting it due to the fact that it is done by various katha vachiks. Please feel free to download and listen to the katha at your will on the following link http://www.4shared.com/dir/2Mj4Y-RS/sharing.html

  9. Rebel singh "what Chauder" are you joking why have we got 10 Gurdwaras in some local area's ALL caste based when Sikhi is the Khalsa all equal. What ever you think of Dr Ambedkar (I don't know much either) but he had the vision of not joining something which he could see miles off which many of us even now shy away from admitting.

  10. Rebelsingh "what Chauder" have you seen the amount of Gurdwaras in Birmingham / Southal ie Singh Sabha, Ramgharia, Bhatra ALL CASTE based etc they ALL need Committees with a leader and his minions if this is not Chauder I don't know what is... why do these mugs need to call themselves leaders maybe in the real world they can't speak good enough English to be head of anything else.

  12. The biggest GADARS that caused damage and division to Sikhism are those who believe in CASTE especially those KU%JARS who want CHAUDER in Gurdwaras and those moronic leaders who did not break-away from India during 1947 AND told DR Ambedkar that Chamar and Churey had to be Ravidassia sikh / Mezhbie sikhs and that's why he chose Buddhism because he knew the then Sikh's would never accept them as equals. Like another thread on this forum the best we can do is unite ALL Gurdwaras under one Nishan Sahib = The KHALSA I am ANGRY the more and more I learn about the sell-outs in our community and the fake history that has been sold to us.

  13. Sant Bhindranwale was never a Khalistani, he was made into one , as were majority of Khalistanis after bluestar. In our history we have had very very powerful external enemies, but we have survived as the sikhs were dedicated to sikhi. Now as our dedication decreases, powerful enemies seem unbeatable. why the decline in sikhi? no 1 reason, Gurdwaras have lost thier way, and lost the plot, of whatthey are axtually there for.

  14. the real cause is that we have forgotten to study guru granth sahib and incorporate it in our lives .... 99.99% of sikh panth today is SGGS illetrate .... Instead of shabda guru we have a pustak guru .... (FROM SGGS) Guru jina ka andhla chele nahi thav & Guru Jina ka andla sikh bhi andhe karam kare Sikhs think its enough to do Chavar, prakash, sukhasan, akhand path, parikrama and matha taken ... no need to study what guru wants to say ... much less act upon it

If your aim is to eradicate disease then set that as your target. Once the rass kicks in you will find yourself doing Simran automatically. When a car has a flat battery we need to push start it. Once the battery is charged we don't need to push the car anymore , in fact the car will carry us. In the early stages we do Simran but there comes a time when Simran is doing us. With regards to the pronunciation I do not have sufficient knowledge to advise you on that matter so I will request others to clarify that.

  17. Outer rehit- 5 K's- Refrain yourself from 4 kurahits- eating meat, having sexual intercourse(bhog bilas) outside marriage, cutting/trimming/shaving kesh, taking drugs, maintaining abek and outer bibek. I take outer rehat as uniform in the school- basic requirement. No If or buts, basic requirement. As beginner sikh who have taken amrit(admission), this is must- hatt is must/basic requirement/uniform in School of Sikhi its policy requirement, it's not up for debate or playing around with circles with it. Have you ever seen in real life- students in high school/colleges/universities fighting over basic requirement/uniform and spend all their time doing that? NO, they accept it and move on to look at more monumental task of 4-5 years of hard studying, passing exams and getting degree. Once we can comprehend above and we need to move on and look and understand of syllabus/courses in Sikhi Read the below in context of stages. I must state truth and post whole sikh journey in its totality rather just one portion: Inner rehit- doing panj banis, doing simran jap via gurmantar, mool mantar, doing gurbani vichar, discussing adyatamik (spiritual) school of thoughts, learning languages ie- sanskrit, farsi, urdu, persian, braj basha, sadhu basha to understand scriptures, learning bhram vidiya, have seva bhavna and do seva, have virtues- compassion, nonviolence, be in god's will, humility, pateince, contenment, truth to combat- 5 vices- lust, anger, attachment, greed, ego , observe your mind/thought process/study it and with simran eliminate thoughts, anxeity. For begineers, both inner and outer rehit are important. However in bhramgyan avastha, many of very famous sikh mahapursh depending on their nature (three natures of bhramgan- daanie, divanie, mastane) didnt felt an need to follow some parts in outer and inner rehit and still follow gurmat sidhant from "bhramgyan angle", if you are unsure what that gurmat sidhant is, look no further, read no further my bakvas, books written by soo and soo sant or bhai sahib, just read sri akaal ustat, all the kandan of karam kaand which people idolize (as opposed to an stage) its bluntly there. If you thinking guru ji is reffering to karam kands done by hindus not sikhs around that time or will be doing in future, you are sadly mistaken. Karam kands and elements in shariat stage(elements in both inner and outer rehit) - wearing kakars most difinately needed for jaigaso/abhilkes so kakars are constant reminder of any wrong doings but right at this time we are talking about bhramgyanis(depending on their nature), its not mandatory for them As sukhmani sahib says explaining status of bhramgyani: braham giaanee lae dhhaavath bandhhaa || braham giaanee kaa anth n paar || braham giaanee kaa sagal akaar || braham giaanee aap nirankaar || Guru maharaj and his ladlaie Bhramgyanis cannot be bound to maryada. Very logically speaking- in a school its only students requires read/follow through rules of school and text book not the teachers but some teachers being concerned students might go astray, they also read through and follow through rules of text book such teachers are called danaie/ Purshutam Maryada Mahpursh such as sant gurbachan singh ji bhindranwale/Bhai sahib bhai randhir singh ji and many more. There are some elements in outer rehit ie- bibek, wearing kakars and inner rehit- learning languages, observing your mind/thought process/studying it which are exceptional from cases to cases as in such elements are there as a rehat to get you to God but they are not God themselves...once person is in turiya avastha/sam avastha. He/she is not bound to follow certain elements in both outer and inner rehit. Now lets talk about guru gobind singh ji maharaj, putting rules/maryada on mahapursh is morakhta but putting rules or maryada on sri guru gobind singh ji- nirankari jot in sargun saroop is MAHA morakhata. I ll give two historical examples of how sri guru gobind singh ji adapted outer garb by his own hakum/ by his own mauj/ and by his own masti. 1. When sri guru gobind singh ji clapped his hand as uch da pir, he wore traditional muslim dress. 2. When sri guru gobind singh ji started nirmale samparda, he wore a traditional phagva sadhu color and sent 5 singhs who also wore phagva sadhu color to kashi, banares. We(Sikhs) have started judging our khasam Guru by own little mats(standards). We got people who start rejecting relics of maharaj and bachitar natak by questioning the act of Guru. Why did he felt a need to write a autiobiography of himself? he cannot wear seli topi. We judge our khasam guru according to our own standards, that nirankari jot who came into this world to break shackles of soceity (shariavaad, bhraminvaad) can dress in which ever way they want, they dont your premission nor the rehit like you must wear dumala or dastar applies to them. I cannot beleive sikhs restricting their own guru maharaj act by the rehit maryada in rehit namas which were written gurmukhs so that jaigaso can stay in rehit (free from sins) maryada(remeber death). Question to people- Guru Maharaj who made all this sristi, rehat maryada does his own rules apply to him? maryada is for students, stopping applying maryada's to guru(Teacher). Have you ever heard of physics teacher, completing exams along with his students in the class rom? no he is the one marks the exams. What if Guru Sahib give us darshan in livaaj(dress) of almast fakir(contary to most people mindset of how Guru dressed like ie- bibeki, 9 inch kirpan etc etc), dastar to test us(sikhs).. is my sikh got to avastha of advait(non duality)/ bhagat namdev where he saw God in Dog and every where? What if Guru Sahib comes to the house of Sikh in form of gareeb(poor person) to test his sikh,.. did my sikh reached the state "free" from dvaish(partiality) towards other human regardless of their dharam? would we able to recnognize him? Guru Ji can take whichever form he wishes in sargun form to test his Sikh because Guru ji is a nirankari jot... what scares me or send shivers down to my spine that we sikhs may even reject our own Guru as "kafir" because we have certain idol in our mind who guru would have dressed like and start idiolising that imaginary idol by that we start judging Guru Sahiban with our standards(little mat and buddhi), narrow minded views. ========== Foot notes: Three natures of Bhramgyanis*: source: The Radiance of complete journey to Akaal Purkh by Sant baba Jagjit Singh Ji Harkhowaley. Three kinds of BhramGyani(Sants,Mahatama, Mahapursh)... 1. Mastane: Intoxicated ones through remembrance get themselves merged with Almighty(Vahiguroo). More carefree un-attached will boldly function. Do not reveal their secret. Talk in Mysterious tone. Very few rarely come to understand. Have no time to teach common people. Always remain lost in spiritual contemplation. Some rare persons can take benefit from them. 2. Divane- Madhin lover remain intoxicated in God's love but give out sometime such inner secret that proves a source of life for the seekers, who after having themselves proven worth in their sight are also able to colour others in God's Love. 3. Daane- The wise ones who live according to what they preach and talk in understandable tone which benefits all and hearing which people renounce evil deeds. They always treat the path of truth and are eager for welfare of one and all.

  18. no dont smoke, dont be naughty boy or girl. NO ELECTRONIC CIGZ EITHER. you are not presently smoking cigarettes, so you should not consider any alternative that mimick cigarettes either. You only want to smoke to relieve the stress, which can be relieved in other ways, such as yoga, breathing exercises, You need to learn to relax. Relaxation, although at the time may seem difficult to achieve is a big key towards achieving this. It causes a changing of the Alpha and Beta brain patterns by using functions that involve concentration, centering and focus. If you are under a lot of pressure, or if you're ill, maybe possibly travelling a lot, or unduly worried about something, you may notice that you are not functioning as you would normally do. Relaxation can help considerably. Take a moment to relax. Stress is most damaging if it is continually on going. Even if you can get only just a few moments of relaxation it can help to alleviate the situation considerably. Don't be afraid to talk to your GP if you experience stress-related symptoms such as: Dizzy spells. Severe headaches. Chronic back or neck pain. Racing pulse. Anxiety. Depression The doc will be able to help you with ur anger problem. dont by embarassed or shy of going to the doctor, they are there to help, and they wont think bad of you whatever your problem, as all information is treated confidential. Also start doing simran, it is very therapeutical. or if u want listen to shabads that will help you to relax. Close your eyes and sit in a quiet place and listen to:

  19. Please read and share with everyone; Bhai Pal Singh who is in his late 50's has endured so much, yet he remains in high spirits: http://www.prisonerwelfare.com/news/bhai-pal-singh-letter-1/ Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa || Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh || To those beloved, caring Sikhs and to those who despite their distance look after me. You must be thinking how we in the prisons are coping with life inside. From 5th of August 2010 till now I have been imprisoned in a small cell. The measurements of the cell are as follows: 10ft long and 8ft wide. Within this small cell there is a only a curtain that separates us from a Turkish style toilet. The cell doors have locks on them and outside the cell there is a tiled open spaced room. To exit this room there is another door which has a grilled, mesh type steel door. In my cell there are another two inmates, Bhai Kulwant Singh (now deceased) and Bhai Makhan Singh. We used to be four but with Waheguru’s (God’s) grace Bhai Darshan Singh Dadhi was released. There are two water taps in the toilet area and in this area we must keep our clothes, food containers and dishes (storage space). We are now having to cook our own food because the inmates who cook the prison food are addicted to intoxicants and are even allowed to smoke whilst cooking; sometimes we find cigarette butts in our chapattis or lentils (Daal). We petitioned a writ in the High Court about this but were unsuccessful and so we took the decision to cook our own food. We can buy the chapatti flour from here (jail) but the lentils are ordered from outside. For us this is very expensive. In order for us to prepare our food we are obliged to hire a stove for 100 rupees and pay for the fuel for an additional 18 rupees. This is all because the prison food is both appalling and unhygienic – This has also resulted in almost every other cell hiring their own stove so that they can, as a minimum, take the prison lentils and add various flavourings themselves. The prison chapattis are semi cooked, so we have our own hot plate to re-cook the chapattis properly. The prison canteen is where we buy our fuel, milk, yogurt, sugar, onions and potatoes but we are forced to pay a rate that is 3 times higher than the selling rate outside the prison. The daily timings for routine activities in the prison are semi-fixed; they fluctuate with the season. In the summer they will keep us outside our cells for longer. They take us out of our cells at 6am, however they impose a cell “lockdown” between 12pm-3pm regardless of what the conditions are (in the summer it is difficult to breath due to the humidity and stuffiness of the cells). It is prison rules that we must be taken out of our cells from 7am and lock us up again between 12pm – 3pm. Between 3pm and 6pm we are then released again and the cells are again closed for the day from 6pm to 7am the following day. If anyone causes any trouble or if someone disappears, the jail authorities create more rules and impose stricter conditions on all. The water starts running at 3am and this is when I wake up and have a bath and do Simran (meditation), Nitnem (morning prayers) and listen to Sri Darbaar Sahib’s Hukamnama (order of God for that particular day)and Kirtan (religious hymns singing). Everyone recites their prayers together. I wash my clothes at 5am so that when the cell doors open again at 6am I can then hang my clothes outside. By now its 7 am and we put on our tracksuits and go for a power walk or jog; we train like camels. In about an hour we have covered about 2km. At 8am some of the Singh’s will make Garam Jal (tea) and we make our way to the prison Gurudwara. They allow me to do Kirtan (sing hymns) between 8:30am and 9am everyday. After I have done my Kirtan, I will practice between 9am and 10am. At 10am I will then make my way to the gym and do some weightlifting for my arms/chest for half an hour. We would use each machine one by one. I can bench press 70kg with ease and with a little help I can bench press 100kg. The youths here are surprised and astonished to see an old man like me doing this exercise. I started going to the gym and exercising with this intensity 8 months ago because after they had tortured me, my body quickly deteriorated. It is by the virtue of Waheguru, by purchasing food from outside the prison, eating and training well, my body is a lot fitter now. At 1030am the gym closes and I return back to my cell and read the newspapers. At 11am a fellow inmate will prepare the food and after eating this meal we will once again go for a walk, to help digest the food. During this walk we prefer to do Simran rather than to talk to other inmates. At 12pm we are again locked up in our cells again and we use this opportunity to rest for a small white and then to arise again and complete Sukhmani Sahib and other Baani’s (Prayers). If we have some time after that, I will then make notes of the various happenings and my own case. Once the cells open up at 3pm, we go to the Gurdwara. I am the only person permitted to go to the Gurudwara at 3pm whereas the others are only allowed from 4pm onwards. Between 3pm and 3.45pm I practice Kirtan and I will continue this in front of the congregation until 4:15pm. After I have finished we all then complete our Rehiraas Sahib (evening prayer). These timings are applicable to the winter schedule; the summer schedule only changes slightly. After Rehiraas Sahib, we go outside the Gurudwara to an area where there is a 400m track where we walk and complete 4-5 laps power-walking. At 6pm we return to our cells and we are locked up for the night. Here we listen to Kirtan for half an hour, prepare and eat dinner and again listen to Kirtan until 8pm. Every now and again, a comedy program comes on air and we would watch it with the news. If we are afforded the luxury of fruit and nuts, we would also indulge in them as well. By 9pm we are asleep. This is our daily routine. For the last 18 months I’ve been in prison but somehow I haven’t realised or felt that I’ve been here for so long. This is because of the blessings and prayers done by you for me. Sometimes when I do Kirtan in Raag (classical musical form) I am surprised that someone like me is blessed by Waheguru’s grace; no-one has taught me how to do Kirtan here. I have been given two Kirtan Books from which I have learnt to do Kirtan. This is a peaceful life – the reality is, I have not been able to live outside! This is simply Waheguru’s blessings. It is with the the Sangat’s prayers and Waheguru’s grace that I’ve been able to live in peace. I have however seen people cry here. Only those are saved who follow Waheguru’s will. Gurbaani (Guru’s words) is extremely powerful and it doesn’t let its followers fail or slip. My mind still hasn’t been able to comprehend your prayers and well wishes. With Waheguru’s blessings many in the prison have stopped taking intoxicants and have started to keep their hair. I believe this is Waheguru’s blessings on me: that I have been assigned this duty to serve the people here. Sangat Ji (dearest congregation), If I have said anything wrong, please accept my sincerest apologies. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa || Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh || Pal Singh Amritsar Jail

  20. UkLondonSingh, I think the best way to cure you of your phobia of Pakistan / Muslims is if you actually visit Pakistan. I guarantee you'll come back with a totally different outlook to the one you currently have, through misguidance. I've mentioned on this forum, over the years, many times about my visit to Pakistan. Started of in a village in lahore district as it was my friend's wedding, but also took an excursion to Faisalabad (Lyallpur) district to see the villages where my my clan were located. In both these districts, I can categorically state that the Jatt clans were a small minority of the landowners / farmers. In both areas (and bear in mind that the Faisalabad landowners were refugees from district Jalandhar) there were far more Arain and other villages than jatt ones. Go there and see for yourself how the jatts are only a small minority of the Pakistani Punjabis. As I stated before, you have the capability of writing some very good posts but you spoil them with the sinister anti-jatt undercurrent you hide in each of your messages. I just can't trust any 'Sikh' that tries his best to portray the muslim / pakistani as the bad guy. To me, that 'Sikh' is just playing straight into the hands of the Indians. When Sikhs waste time making enemies of the muslim, there is only one winner : India. For Indians its a win win situation. Not only do they get to sidetrack the Sikhs from the fight against India but they even get the Sikhs to do their dirty work for them. Oh....and on another thread you mentioned 'how the landowning sikhs exploit the migrant workers with very low wages'. My friend, you could not be more wrong. The only people who are exploiting the migrant workers with low wages are the non-landowning groups based in the cities and towns. In the rural areas, these migrant workers are like gold dust. With such a shortage of workers they can name their price to the highest bidder. Most landowning Sikhs, at harvest time, are even forced to drive towards Bihar and fight for the right to be able to get some workers ahead of the other farmers. Each offering the migrant workers more money to come and work for him. In this type of market the worker can sell his services to the highest bidder. Its up to you now my friend. You can either carry on with your ill-informed anti-jatt rhetoric or you can start educating yourself about the reality of things.

  24. Only atheists believe it is the end of our human existence. All religions see it as birth. Most important, Sikhi/Gurbani views this world as a temporary illusionary dream, when we die we wake up into reality. However, Christianity, Islam and Hinduism believe in seven heavens and Gurbani states these heavens are under Maya. Buddhism and Sikhi is higher, however Sikhi has come directly from Vaheguru/God, so Sikhi is above Haumai whereas Buddhism is under Haumai. Sikhi/Gurmat is about experience. If you did intense meditation/bhagti on Naam and Gurbani, practice all of Guru Sahib's rehita from Guru Granth Sahib Jee and Guru Gobind Singh Jee then you will obtain spiritual experiences. You will then see the spiritual lokh (world/life). Dasam Granth has stories of meditators who could self-immolate. This is weakness in not accepting God's will. Guru Sahib and Gursikhs accepted God's will and died through being truly martyred or natural death. I do not know who you are referring to when you say Gurdas jee. I know there is a story of a Sikh (not sure what his name is) becoming a bear but that was due to his lack of humility and compassion. In Baba Harnam Singh's (rumpurkhera walay) time, an amritdhari sikh seriously injured his leg and became disabled so one day him and his family went complaining to Bhai Harnam Singh jee at the Gurdwara and Bhai Harnam Singh jee explained that in his previous life he in a fit of anger due to his own reasons broke his dog's leg. In this life he paid for that. However, if he practiced intense meditation on Naam he would have erased this paap. This is what Sikhs these days lack - Bhagti on Naam and Gurbani because if they did they would not doubt Sikhi and would literally experience God/Guru Sahib. We should also practice compassion, humility, tolerance etc. When we enter a new vessel our janams are not remembered we enter this illusion (world). Only when we die again are we aware of our previous lives in the afterlife. Sometimes in dreams people witness a previous birth in an unclear dream without knowing its a previous birth. However, if you want to know your previous births then you need to jap naam. It's actually really easy to experience who we were in our previous lives through Naam. Also, depending on our bhagti, compassion, level of avguns and guns, good deeds and bad deeds etc we are born in particular religions and convert to those religions or become an athiest. Because of devotional worship in my past incarnations, I have been born into this life. The Guru has inspired me to worship the Lord, Har, Har, Har, Har. Worshipping, worshipping Him with devotion, I found the Lord, and then I merged into the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, Har, Har. ||7|| Look how long it takes to experience God ^ By continuously doing bhagti in our lives we come to meet Vaheguru/God. Patience is a big virtue in Sikhi - ਸਤਿ ਸੂਰਉ ਸੀਲਿ ਬਲਵੰਤੁ ਸਤ ਭਾਇ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਸਘਨ ਗਰੂਅ ਮਤਿ ਨਿਰਵੈਰਿ ਲੀਣਾ ॥ He is the Warrior Hero of Truth, humility is His Power. His Loving Nature inspires the Congregation with deep and profound understanding; He is absorbed in the Lord, free of hate and vengeance. ਜਿਸੁ ਧੀਰਜੁ ਧੁਰਿ ਧਵਲੁ ਧੁਜਾ ਸੇਤਿ ਬੈਕੁੰਠ ਬੀਣਾ ॥ Patience has been His white banner since the beginning of time, planted on the bridge to heaven. ਪਰਸਹਿ ਸੰਤ ਪਿਆਰੁ ਜਿਹ ਕਰਤਾਰਹ ਸੰਜੋਗੁ ॥ The Saints meet their Beloved Guru, who is united with the Creator Lord. ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੇਵਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਓ ਅਮਰਿ ਗੁਰਿ ਕੀਤਉ ਜੋਗੁ ॥੭॥ Serving the True Guru, they find peace; Guru Amar Daas has given them this ability. ||7|| Sikhi is the True Religion as stated in Guru Granth Sahib Jee, Dasam Granth and Bhai Gurdas Jee's vaaran. As stated by Bhai Gurdas Jee - siqgur nwnk dyau Awpu aupwieAw] sathigur naanak dhaeo aap oupaaeiaa|| God himself created the True Guru Nanak. and siqgur nwnk dyau hY prmysru soeI] sathigur naanak dhaeo hai paramaesar soee|| Guru Nanak is the True Guru and is God Himself. and Guru Gobind Singh Jee states - jwih qhW qY Drmu clwie ] kbuiD krn qy lok htwie ] 29] jaahi thehaa(n) thai dhharam chalaae || kabudhh karan thae lok hattaae || 29|| Go to the world and promote the Dharma (faith of righteousness). And prevent mankind from wrong practices (like wickedness and depravity).(29) Dasam Granth describes all previous avtars and prophets to be full of Haumai and were defeated by Kaal. Therefore, Vaheguru/God sent himself (Guru Nanak) to earth start a True Religion. If you want me to explain in detail how the universe was created just ask.

  25. Surprised that nobody seems to be talking about this, looks like it should be some really good coverage for us: The Story of The Turban - Showing on BBC One, Thursday 12th April @ 11.20pm In September 2011, Sikhs from all over Britain gathered in Parliament Square to protest. The focus of their concern was the turban. Since the terrorist attacks of the 21st century Sikhs believe their turbans have singled them out for discrimination. In a case of mistaken identity the Sikhs claim they've been wrongly regarded as religious terrorists and subjected to increased airport security searches. This documentary traces the history of the turban in the Sikh religion, from its roots in Moghul India, through the battlefields of Europe, to the fight for British Sikhs to wear it without fear. It reveals that the turban is a crucial symbol of the Sikh faith - one that Sikhs will even risk their lives for. 26. So come on fellow soldiers ... how do we achieve our aims in reality ... and what do you think is a realistic timeframe for getting to that day of true SatSangat? Can the youth flood Gurdwara's memberships given the rules and restrictions in place or are local petitions and referendums more realistically achievable? Your ideas are welcome as this issue really hurts all sincere Sikhs and makes me very ashamed of our community. How can we spread Sikhi when this cancer within our community is plain for all to see? It's 2012 and at the matrimonial stage this baqwaas becomes relevant!? No wonder the enemies of the Panth saw an easy opening to splinter away the Ravidassia ancestry brothers and sisters among us after Vienna, despite the fact genetics proves we are part of a united+genetically related human family.

  27. Bhaaji you need to do cardio, stick with 6 meal plan, make sure your taking in good calories. You don't realy need to go to the gym, going tell a quick example on cardio workout which should be done everyday. Workout : Circuit - Get yourself a Boxing jump rope, do 100 Skips - Then do 10 Sit Ups - 10 Jumpin Squats - 10 Push Ups As this is a Circuit you need keep on repeating this workout for and 1 hour, this is a one hour extreme session so remember after the workout drink 3 litres of water (Don't drink during workout). This circuit should be done fast, you should be breathless and your heart should be pumping. If you think its too much start with 20 mins and work yourself up to a hour everyday, you need to get your heart pumping. This workout will help your cardiovascular. If you feel fainty and you feel like being sick (immediately stop) that means your not eating the right foods, you need to eat good calories, so make sure 2 or 3 hours before your workout you eat something like Bran Flakes Cereal with some apples or Bananas. In weeks you will see results, its all about commitment, organise you self a good timetable, you will loose weight fast.

  28. Forget about fat free, not fat free. That is not important. What is important is that you get good fats like the ones in milk, eggs, etc. cut out sugar, that is important. Next is something that is very, very difficult for all Indians in general to do, and that is to cut back on carbs. Indian foods are heavy in carbs (roti, chawal, etc.) the fat you have comes from excess carbs. Get rid of a lot of carbs, and that will help a lot. Besides that, do what oh twadi says. And eat clean. A good option is a "paleo diet", one that in which you only eat food that early humans would have eaten, i.e, lots of berries, nuts, and fruits. That is very beneficial But first priority is excercise. The excercise you are doing now is good, but it would be much better if you did excercise every day, for an hour. You can walk outside instead of the treadmill. Best possible option HIIT, that is designed to melt fat in relatively short workouts. Look into a training program called "Insanity" it ridiculously difficult, but If your diet is good, you will easily lose the weight you want to.

  29. Hanji. Right off the bat I can say that your diet needs overhaul It's a really bad idea to skip breakfast. Your body has been starving for 8+ hours, that first meal of the day really is the most important one. Consider buying fruits and have plenty of those as you drive to work in the morning. You are not kidding when you say it's a big lunch. Let's do some calculations here to figure out how many calories you are ingesting for lunch - 6 inch veggie delite is 230 calories. x2 = 460 calories - diet coke or pepper = 150 calories - personal pizza with cheese = 680 calories TOTAL = 1290 calories using nutrition information from Taco Bell website. 1 7-layer = 510 calories. x2 = 1020 calories + 1 bean burrito = 370 calories TOTAL = 1390 calories If the high number of calories is not concerning to you, consider that both are very high in salt. It extremely tough to figure out how many calories this will be. But I would say it since it fills your stomach and you eat ~1400 calories when eating outside for lunch, this meal at home will likely have similar number of calories. As per Health Canada, for sedentary individuals between 19-30, 2500 calories should be consumed. Do keep in mind that this is on top of the recommendation of eating healthy calories full of fruits, vegetables, whole grains etc. http://www.hc-sc.gc....e/1_1_1-eng.php So right there, your lunch takes up 55% of your daily calorie consumption. That is too many calories for one meal, especially considering that we are likely going to be doing a lot of sitting through out the day. 1500 calories/day just seems too restrictive. Something like this, if done long term, will likely damage one's metabolism. I think I have written about how low calorie diets are bad for you in the past somewhere. Will post it here if I find it. First thing I would recommend is that you start incorporating regular exercise along with the other things I mentioned in my previous post. It is always better to increase activity than cut calories. As far as exercise is concerned, start with walking 30-60 mins, 3 days a week. Do this for a couple of weeks and then we can revisit this. Stay away from those commercial diets, if they do work, they are too expensive. I have a carb cycling diet that I have used twice and achieved very good results without breaking the bank. I can post that later, but first lets get you moving

  31. You should visit the Gupt section once in a while. Some amritdharis asking about where to obtain motivation to wake up at amritvela, cease the act of....self-pleasure, etc. Its not as easy as some think. For some its a constant challenge, especially for youngsters who may have taken amrit but were not emotionally mature enough to fully understand the huge responsibility it entails.

  32. No, outer rehat is not the most difficult, the amritdhari may perhaps find that slander that may come with it is very difficult to overcome, but there is nothing difficult about keeping outer rehat. And in fact, some who keep outer rehat do not even bother about keeping inner rehat as I'm sure you well know- they're living too comfortable thinking they've got it on lockdown just by donning the amritdhari dress, waking up at amritvela and keeping away from meat, alcohol etc(all Easy as pie). With inner rehat comes challenges that the bhagat never saw coming, the tests that lead one into moments of deep depression, into hell realms, at times slandered continuously- the bhagat begins to see, feel, smell and taste the filth all around, until they become psychologically sound by recognising it is only Him everywhere, in the at times bordering on unbearable pain as well as the pleasure. The world as we know it becomes a completely different place, the demons are rife everywhere(human beings with a hellish psychology who cause this age to be Kalyug)- these tests are the most difficult to pass, of loving all equally no matter what, of accepting His hukam no matter how bad it gets.. The Gurus children were killed, two young ones were tortured- yet he accepted this as sweet hukam, as it was all God himself- this is the kind of great great psychology that the bhagat must adopt to destroy the thieves- how can this even be comparable to outer rehat?

  33. Its our ego right, that doesn't let us see the virtues in the Rehat. Pretty much everyone goes through this. Some are just real deeply attached to the ego, where they seek out Punj Pyare that won't give them a strict Rehat Maryada. And approaching such people to tell them such a method is not Gurmat will only fuel their ego even more. So far best thing i have found is to just sit down and do paat with them and/or take them along with you to have darshan of Gursikhs.

  34. So true. A lot of Sikhs i have heard say bad things about rehat, like it makes us worse or something, as if its a weight around our necks. Guru knows our shortcomings, but we should never say or think bad about rehat, just becasue we find it hard to aspire to them.
