  1. There is one medal that only Sikhs posses, inspite of the bravery of a few Marathas and Rajputs who upto some extent did defend their lands and communities. The medal I am talking about is Sardar Hari Singh Nalwa. Agreed, there were brave Hindus as well, but none of them was lion enough to kick back the Afghans and Pathaans all the way back to their own rat holes in Kabul and then hoist the kesri Nishan Sahib on their own land. No Hindu king/warrior has ever achieved this. We probably didn't save Hindus all over India, maybe true, but we damn right made sure that their future generations wouldn't have to face these invaders, because the Singhs forever ended Muslim invasions through Khyber pass into India, again something no Hindu king/warrior did. Perhaps this is the reason why Indians regard Sikhs as "watchmen" of India, because a watchman guards the entire neighborhood at the point of entry, so he doesn't really need to stand outside each house to protect it.

  3. He's dead now and people should think about the positives in a persons life instead of always looking for negativity. I dont understand why we Sikhs are so quick to judge others just over the 1984 attacks and not by other things they have done in life? Im confused that the picture with him standing next to Indira just didnt come out yesterday? How come noone reacts when this originally happened and taken action at that time? If we have done that so many people would not have been suprised at this kind of picture and would have given him so much respect and attention.

  4. One thing amazing about Chrisitianity is the way thy spread word about religion. Here where I live they(christian volunteers) have i guess some sort of a list like ok in this street there is a Sikh or Hindu and when they come to your door they are(usually its women) dressed in a salwar kameez and have books and phamplets in Punjabi which tells the message about Jesus. Even though we refuse them everytime it amazes me that how much effort they put into spreading the word about Chrisitianity. I really dont see all tht in Sikhi.

  5. people reading this thread , lets make it actionable by dropping any castist surnames that we have and just use singhs and kaurs If someone asks what caste are you , we should respond - "I am a sikh and therefore have no caste, but our ancestors before converting came from lowest of low castes" Neeche ander neech jaat | Neeche hun at neech || nanak tin ke sang sath vadiyan syo kya ress || Also Hamri jat satguru pat satguru || Castism is very repulsive , anyone who takes pride in his caste comes across as an Indian version of a redneck to me.

  6. Some interesting and constructive points in your whole post, but surly there should be a standardised accepted platform of leadership in the UK to implement and promote best practice in the form of the directives from Akal Takht Sahib and in my view who better than the Sikh Council. Do we then let small splinter groups of Sikhs go around enforcing or implementing the directives? Because as dangerous as it is, that's what is likely to happen!

  8. Look let's be realistic we didn't save all the Hindus in India. India was too big to save everyone. The Marathas were actually brave and successful. But we certainly helped them out big time. Even Kashmir did eventually succumb to Islam. But certainly in North West India we beat the Mughals and Afghans.

  9. Only five, If you get 'excited' at seeing a woman dressed in a skirt or pants, i suggest you see a therapist because you need help. ..and perhaps consider another well known religion that forces its women to cover up completely??

  10. i think everyones realised what a joke LAXMAN is! Your IQ stats are joke 5:1 isuntrue in fact IQ is very close between genders although men are higher there is a higher standard deviation for males as well. On top of that you must take into account that women are generally discouraged from higher education in many parts of the world Women do give birth and raise children they are as influential as men, and have generally been excluded from joining old boys clubs such as the army Finally regarding strength i know enough singhnia who would be able to kick the <banned word filter activated> out of you! p.s dont ever drop a when your married as you would have to go pesh immediately, sounds like you have a dirty mind that you are struggling to control. also im sure the fact you dont have a female friend is based more on females not wanting to be your friend.

  11. Do Ardas! During Sant Jarnail Singh Ji's time there was a Singh who was 24 and his beard didn't come in, long story short, Sant Ji told the Singh to do Ishnaan underneath Dukh Bhanjani Bayree and in a short while his beard came in.

  12. You should watch this youtube video which ill try to find the link to and post later on. Basically the singh feels that no girl wants to marry him due to his dastar/beard. So under peer pressure he cuts his hair and his parents throw him out. He does all this just to get a girl. But to his shock the girl he liked turns into a singhnee and then when he tries to approach him she basically tells him what his done is really wrong especially as soo many singhs/singhnees have given shaheediya than give up their gursikhi roop. In the end he becomes a amrithari singh. Moral: its not your dastar/beard that's the problem its your own paranoid thinking.

  15. Be aware of false "Kaurs" and false "Singhs"! Both sides are affected...!Theres same amount of false "Kaurs" like "Singhs". A Sikh Image and Bana doesnt mean that you are freed from all this "evil" in this world. You need to be aware of all kind of humans. Humans are selfish, greedy and everything else than good. I don´t want to say all are bad , but the good ones are very seldom. I myself aren´t good as well nor I never said I am . Have trust but still be aware. I still can´t see if this is a Sikh issue or have anything to do with religion. Just wearing Bana etc.. doesnt makes you religious. May God bless you all.

  17. Hkaur16 ji you have heard right. Dara singh was no friend of Sikhs that is why his cousin Varindra was killed in 1988.

  18. ..so you think you heard something about him, but you may be wrong, but you don't know?? ..judging by your comment, any Sikh who passes away - their life should be judged by what they said or did in 1984?? for God sake, the guy has only just died and was one of the few Punjabi actors who actually kept his surname Singh!! Rest In Peace.

  19. nimrata is completely different from being a walk-over. it's kind of a difficult thing to explain, nimrata is not weakness. it is great strength. the more nimrata one has, the greater naam bani they can handle. a person needs the dheeraj (forbearance) from nimrata to be able to handle the shaktian gained from this path.

  23. Just adding to the above, I think Nirmata/Gareebee is essential for becoming a Sikh. There's thousands of examples in history and GurBanee that teach us this e.g. the above sakhi of Guru Jee. There is no spiritual progression without it.
