  1. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Guru Pyaare Saadh sangat Ji, We would like to update the Sangat on the situation since the protest that took place on 29th May 2012 in Luton. Anan Majid Basharat has now been charged with 3 accounts of rape and one account of ABH. He is due to appear in Luton Crown Court in December for a plea and case management hearing. The news was prevented to be broadcasted by the court due to potential racial tension, but since it was published today in “Luton on Sunday” newspaper we feel the sangat should be aware too. The violence and harassment prior, and the barbarity of the rape ordeal were on a sadistic level. It left members of the local community shocked and shaken. The anger turned towards the police, who were made aware of the increasing level of intimidation by Basharat, but failed to acknowledge the tell tale signs, especially considering his criminal record. The community feel this horrific ordeal was preventable if the police had taken action to concerns raised by the victim’s family. From the Sikh Awareness Society, we have been working with victims of grooming, both under 16 and over 16 for over a decade. We fail to differentiate between ages, for us it is very clear; there is a highly organised element working in networks across towns and cities, engaging in what initially seem like “conventional” relationships, but have the long term aim of serious exploitation and abuse. The trend clearly points towards racially motivated sexual exploitation. We politely request all Gurdwaras and Panthic organisations to run regular awareness campaigns highlighting these dangers. We are indebted to the tireless work of our sewadars who work with little resources across the UK. We hope the community can refrain from the slander, myths and speculation, or using such news as a spring board for other political agendas, and realise we have a young daughter who has been seriously abused. Please take time to mention her and other victims in your prayers. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

  3. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh This Singh has been doing a lot of hard work and has sacrificed a lot of time, effort and money to make these videos. It's not easy to make these videos at all, we watch it and just play it off without understanding how much work goes into them. These videos have done a lot of good in the short collective 40,000 views that BasicsOfSikhi channel has got in all the videos. If you look at their facebook page a lot of people who either wanted to know more about Sikhi or found Sikhi by his videos show their love and appreciation. We all are young and know the various hurdles we take for even doing basic things such as keeping our kesh and then taking Khade Bate Da Amrit. Often Sikhs, especially new Sikhs, face psychological pressures from family, relatives and backwards Punjabi community. If we see someone like the Singh who makes the BasicsOfSikhi videos it's easy to dissociate ourselves from the struggles he has gone through in making the actual videos and not pay a seconds thought to it. I don't doubt he probably went through pressures from family, relatives and friends telling him not to do it because I know if I were to do the same thing that he is doing, I would face similar hurdles and problems. He has taken the step that many of us secretly wanted to do and he is doing it really well, from now on out his videos will only IMPROVE with the support and love from the Guru's Sangat. The videos are already amazing, but with support they will inevitably become better and better. Often we say we need more Sikhs or more Sikhs dedicating time to Sikhi, well there are many who do and the Singh has done a fair share of sewa and continues to do so, we just don't recognize it. The very basic we can do is share his videos on twitter, facebook or simply show our families and friends in person or via email. It's easy to criticize and find fault, but it's hard to accept and help. Even if you know what the Singh is talking about, it's the job of the GurSikh sangat to promote these basics that talk about Sikhi so people who may not know as much as others will have an opportunity to see this great parchar done in English. Benti, please show your appreciation and support for such Sikhi parchar by supporting these videos by subscribing to the channel and like, favorite and share the videos in whatever means possible. 4. Fateh For an organisation who is doing such a brilliant work with little resources, it is the duty of the sikhs to support them in all aspects. Just looked up for their details: here is a useful link: http://www.sasorg.co.uk/donate.html Fateh.

  6. Some history scholars claim that the holy ghost/the resurrection was actually Jesus waking up from sedation that is given to someone before they're crucified. They thought Jesus Christ had died and then he came back and told a few of his followers a message and then returned to live with Buddhist Monks (where he spent a lot of his time prior to returning to Jerusalem and preach Christianity after getting wisdom from the three wise men - Buddhist monks) in the Himalayans.

  7. How many nihangs regardless of budha dal or tarna dal membership have knowledge of traditional shastar vidiya ? you can ask them but I doubt you will get proper answera. same concept if you ask a kirtani if they have knowledge of proper traditional raag vidiya and tradinational authentic kirtan instruments used in gurmat sangeet such as sarangi and rabab..why do they rely on ferenghi instryments like the vajah/european harmonium which was never a traditional krtan istrument..it was introduced during the british era...apparentky to make kirtan sound more like choir music...y

  8. Canadian Sikhs should make a defence of themselves as there is a lot of information available from independent journalists http://www.khalistan.com/Letters/Stephen%20Harper%20Priminister%20of%20Canada%20_051607.htm

  9. True, about Sikhs not being killed in Bangal during 84. I have heard that the congress in Bangal wanted to cause bloodshed, but Jyoti Basu the communist leader had given them a strict warning that if they try to do anything, they will be severely dealt with. Jyoti Basu was a great leader indeed. That being said, I don't think Punjab should adopt the Bangal model of governance. Before 1947, Bangal was the most industrialized state and it's infrastructure was the most advanced in India. But because of the communist economic policies, it's industry suffered greatly. Because of it's inaction against foreign intruders, Bangal will be a Muslim majority state in the future thanks to the millions of Bangladeshis migrating to Indian Bangal. Even though Bangal is a Hindu majority state, but the communist government had made cow slaughter legal in the state. Lets just say, Punjab is better off under the Akalis and Congress rather than living under the communists.

  10. Ultimately, blames lies with all the janta of punjab for picking up incompetent/corrupt leaders time after time, power has been under same old congress and akaalis since India constitution. The way things are going in punjab, one cannot help but think if punjab was better with british raj than our own scum bag leecher leaders...its quite a paradox. The change in punjab has to come with self awareness within each punjabi living in punjab demanding for change. Lot of our sikhs abroad are focusing on change in panthic leadership at sri akaal takth sahib but such change will not effective until we address issues with punjab gov't as ultimately punjab gov't calls it shots. What we need here is an highly educated un partial and secular leader in punjab standing up for next election in punjab which can address issues like accountability, corruption, broken punjab police structure, economy, jobs, environment, water. If we read anandpur sahib resolution which every sikh should read and memorize after all our shaheeds of 1984 died fighting for...most of issues listed applies to normal joe blow life in punjab life/fairness and prosperity in punjab. I believe if key issues of corruption, accountablity, punjab police structure reform, human rights issues are addressed all our panthic issues which are inter-connected will automatically be addressed. I was born in Kolkata so i can see punjab situation from eagle eye and provide recommendations based on things which have worked greatly in Kolkatta. I am not saying punjab should adapt communist/marxist..that would be suicidal but adapt good things from it..its worth noting during 1984 riots in kolkata not even one single sikh out of thousands were killed by mobs, due to heavy police protection for sikhs under power of joti basu. Sikhs in Kolkata are highly in debt to joti basu for protecting miniorites in Kolkata. We need to get new leader which can adapt policies from other states which have worked instead of same old old power struggle between congress and akaalis.

  13. Max Arthur did not lay the foundation of Singh Sabha, please read some history books. If Singh Sabha is protestant does that make the Sanatanists Catholics? Modern UK niddarists are trying to change what Hindus are by claiming that it is not a religion but a geographic term in order to blur the distinction of Sikhs from the Hindus. They are trying to say that Hindu is not really a religion but a geographical location (i.e. India) and since Sikhs are mostly from India then Sikhs are also Hindus. This type of logic is pure hogwash.. It simply does not make sense make sense if you put Sikh scriptures in the equation. In Gurbani we have famous Tukhs like Hindu anna, turku Kaana meaning the Hindu is blind since he does not beleive in Vaheguru, and the Mussalmaan(turk) is one eyed since he at least believes in God. So Hindu here is used to denote a religious community, not a geographic location since Sikhs were also in that same geographic location as Hindus. Further, in Gurbani Guru Jee says Na Hum Hindu, Na Mussalmaan (I am neither Hindu nor Muslim). Again, Hindu here implies a religious group as is Mussalmaan(Muslim). Listen to what Sant Bhindranwale has to say on this matter: Sant Jee was not education by Singh Sabha, he got all his understanding of Sikhi from Taksal from which even Nihangs study from. And since niddarists have an alergy to Singh Sabha, they at least cannot accuse Sant Jernail Singh Bhindranwale of being Singh Sabha influenced. Even the Nihangs in India are not in agreement with the niddarist interpretation. Even they say Sikh Panth is the teesr Panth(the 3rd and distinct Panth), implying that it is distinct from the other two Panths i.e. Islam and Hinduism.

  14. Ex Punjabi gang member became a Sikh and is now representing Sikh values and fighting against gangs. Sikhs in Canada should rally together and pursue legal avenues to make her so called "left" film politically correct as she is currently defaming the Sikh community by saying it's Sikh gangs, not Indian gangs. Also, no one should react with emotion. Stay classy...

  15. Such 'sikhs' are ones who consider Sikhi as a ethnic group rather than a spiritual path. From the pictures it's obvious they are all a bunch of uncle toms. I bet half of their children have probably married non Sikhs. They have absolutely no Sikhi left left inside of them, yet have the audacity to think they represent the Sikhs. Members of this so called Sikh organization are a living contradiction.

Ask Sikh Channel how they could support a Sikh Sanstha that promotes Manmat by allowing alcohol to be served under the Sikh banner. Let's see what they say....

  20. By celebrity I don' t mean anything negative. I meant famous Sants of today's times(maybe celebrity was the wrong term to use). They are all much higher than me. I am probably not even equal to the dust of their feet. I feel many great high avasta vale Gursikhs remain Gupt. For example, I know a Singh who does a lot of Bhagti, and has even had spiritual experiences, but he prefers to remain Gupt and just do his Bhagti. He says he has not reached Brahmgian level yet and still has a lot of work to do. There are many hidden gems in our Panth.

  24. Expect issues such as these to come to the forefront at a time when Sikhi will be under the microscope (not necessarily for anything negative). Best to have a universally agreed-upon version of events rather than conflicting versions of what are, let's be honest, rather contentious matters. Personally it doesn't matter to me how Guru Sahibs pro-created as I appreciate we are not as them, and I wouldn't delude myself in attempting to comprehend their ways. However what some people encountering this issue (especially those who possibly don't have complete bharosa on Guru Sahib or even non-Sikhs) might find confusing is how Sikhs are encouraged to live the life of a householder, yet the physical act of fulfilling one major aspect of being a householder was bypassed in favour of divine methods of conception. It would suggest non-supernatural (from our perspective) methods were not favoured. If so, why not? I'm not referring to procreating without kaam by the way; I'm referring exclusively to the topic as broached by this Humble guy in the original post.

  25. i know that some people will have trouble believing this, but just like a person can fight jung without krodh touching the mind, a person can also act without kaam touching the mind. it is a matter of one's spiritual level.

  26. HeatSikhingMissile I can't believe you are defending him. At the end of the day, he didn't genuinely ask that question. He said it out of sarcasm and blatant disrespect to Guru Ji. I had respect for him before, none at all now. Ironically, the way he asked that question and the futile attempts at defending himself went against his very name 'humble'. What an <banned word filter activated> this guy (not you but this so called 'humble' rapper) is.

  27. Lol this humble dude doesn't know himself what he believes in. On one hand he has a turban, beard, kara, and even the word "Khalsa" tattooed on himself, on the other hand he doesnt believe in Sikhi. Also, he's 30 years old, acts like a teenager, and hangs out with them. That's just weird. On top of that, dude can't rap for <banned word filter activated>. He's a loser and a poser, just ignore him

  29. I remember hearing in katha that when Indira Gandhi came to the darbar most of the sangat stood up. Sant jee was doing katha at that time and said, (I'm paraphrasing) "Khalsa jee, you are sitting in presence of kings of kings and yet when this lady worth 2 pennies came in you stood up!" Now that's what called being nirhbau (fearless). Dhan guru payarey! I want to hear him say it as well, hopefully there is a recording out there.
