  1. Akj.org does not represent the Akhand Kirtani Jatha - it as site run by just a handful of families in Brampton/Toronto and some of their supporters in UK. These missionary minded "penchainees" are tarnishing the Jatha's name just as Dumma and the Rode family is doing the same to the Taksal. The truth is that the real sevadars in the Jatha have been at the fore-front of pro-Dasam Granth prachar for many years, when no one else was even talking about Sri Dasam Granth. Dr. Tarlochan Singh who was very close to Bhai Randhir Singh Ji, was one of the first Singhs to publish pro-Dasam Granth research in English more than five decades ago. He was the father of Dr. Anurag Singh of Ludhiana, another Dasasm Granth Scholar. There has been a ton of pro-Dasam Granth material published by these Singhs in various Panthic magazines including, Sura, FatehNama, Khandaydhar for many years. These sevadars include: - The late Kirtani Bhai Joginder Singh Ji Talwara - Jathedar Bhai Mohinder Singh Ji Kala-Sanghian - Bhai Ratinder Singh (Sr. Editor - Panthic.org) - Toronto Tapoban Singhs - Shahbaaz Khalsa Singhs - California Jatha Singhs, etc. www.AkhandKirtaniJatha.org (not affiliated with akj.org) has many articles and press releases published by these sewadars. The late Bhai Joginder Singh Ji Talwara was one of the first scholars to counter Gurbakash Kala-Afghana's parchar and instrumental in having him ex-communicated from the Sikh panth. It was the Tapoban Singhs and Shahbaaz Khalsa Singhs who gave fitting replies to naasticks like Ghagga and Jeonwala when others were willing to debate them publicly. It was primarily the California Jatha Singhs who challenged Kala-Afghana in Roseville, and in Selma about 10 years back, and Pakhandi VeerBhupinder when he showed up in Fremont California not to long ago. Due to the dirty politics of akj.org, there has been an active boycott by the akj.org group against Bhai Mohinder Singh, Tapoban Singhs, Shahbaaz Khalsa, and California Singhs, because they are unwilling to participate in their missionary minded mis-parchar. Unfortunately, many youths in Toronto, Vancouver, and California who call themselves "Taksalis" or "Nihangs" continue to attend programs coordinated by akj.org naastics and their surrogates and have even joined in the boycott of the pro-Dasam Granth sevadars. Thanks to the hard work of the Indian government agencies and the naastic Badal Akali Dal sarkar, most current day Panthic institutions have been hijacked by shady individuals who are doing bidding for their master - the Jatha is not immune from this either, nor is the Taksal, Budha Dal, or any other panthic group.

  3. So I was up in Manchester today. It was rubbish. Never been that far north before but prepared myself to see eastern European level of poverty and deprivation. I saw something else though that shocked me more. To get into Manchester, when you come off the motorway, you have to drive right through a very run down Jamaican neighbourhood called Moss Side. This neighbourhood also, apparently, has a sizeable and old Sikh community. So I'm driving along their main High Street called Princess Road and notice a Shop with 2 big Khandas on its signage. A big Khanda on the left side and a big Khanda on the right side. Between them were the words 'alcohol' and 'cigarettes'. Have a look for yourselves. Just do a Google Maps search and then a street view for 99 Princess Road, Manchester.

  4. Two MPs, 6 legislators face rape charges: New Delhi: Two sitting MPs and six sitting legislators in different states were fielded by their parties despite cases of crimes against women pending against them, a think tank said on Thursday, four days after a 23-year-old medical student was gangraped in Delhi. Data compiled by Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) showed that parties like the Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Samajwadi Party (SP) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) gave tickets to candidates with charges of rape and other atrocities against women in different states. Referring to affidavits filed by lawmakers ahead of their election, ADR said MPs S Semmalai of the AIADMK from Salem constituency in Tamil Nadu and Suvendu Adhikari of the Trinamool Congress from Tamluk constituency in West Bengal declared that they were facing charges of cruelty and intent to outrage a woman's modesty. There were six legislators across state assemblies with rape charges against them, it said. Another 36 legislators declared that they were facing charges such as assault and molestation, it said. The think tank said that out of the six legislators with rape cases, three were from Uttar Pradesh and members of the SP. They are: Sribhagwan Sharma, Anoop Sanda and Manoj Kumar Paras. The three other legislators facing rape charges were: Mohd Aleem Khan of the BJP in Uttar Pradesh, Jethabhai G Ahir of the BJP in Gujarat and Kandikunta Venkata Prasad of the Telugu Desam Party in Andhra Pradesh. The report showed that parties like the Congress, BJP, SP and BSP gave tickets to candidates with charges of rape. Of the 36 legislators, who declared in their affidavits that they were facing charges of crimes against women, six were from the Congress, five from the BJP and three from the SP, ADR said. Uttar Pradesh has the maximum number of legislators (eight) who declared in their affidavits that they were facing charges of crimes against women, followed by Odisha and West Bengal with seven lawmakers each. The think tank said 27 candidates with rape charges contested different state elections in the past five years. http://ibnlive.in.com/news/two-mps-6-legislators-face-rape-charges-report/311637-37-64.html

  7. Last year we had a very robust discussion here about the hollowness of so called Sikhs who put Christmas trees in their houses. Lot of us learnt from that discussion and agreed to stop following this mindless ritual at their houses. I hope this trend is followed by more and more Sikhs all over the world.

  8. A dedicated Sikh religious channel is all set for launch in January, BizAsia can reveal. The channel formerly known as Sikh TV, will come back as Akal TV at the end of January. Details of Akal TV are being kept underwraps due to competition from the existing two Sikh television services including Sikh Channel and Sangat TV – both on the Sky Digital platform. Akal TV plans to broadcast Sikh religious and documentaries, with live Akhand Paths from various Gurdwaras in the UK. The channel is based in Birmingham. The management of Akal TV is different to that of Sikh TV. Akal TV will be a free-to-air channel, available on Sky Digital from Monday 28th January. http://www.media247.co.uk/bizasia/new-sikh-tv-channel-launching-in-january'>http://www.media247.co.uk/bizasia/new-sikh-tv-channel-launching-in-january

  10. N30singh wrote 2. Sutantar Anubhadith Bani Rachna of Sri Dasam Granth sahib ji- This type of rachna is translations of previous compositions written by many tapavasi rishi, munis which in this care were translated by sri dasam patsah. For example- It's well known fact with in academics 405 tales in treh charitar are translated from previous various compositions, one granth being panch tantar, its also well known fact within in academics that many avtars from Chaubis Avtars compositions are directly translated by sri dasam patsah from Sri Bhagvad, Vishnu Puran. 3. Gur Asa Misrat Anubhadith Rachna of Sri Dasam Granth Sahib Ji- This type of rachna means where one explain his/her own stance/beleif/thoughts/sidhant before compositions being translated kinda like commentary. In Sri Dasam Granth Sahib Ji, sri guru gobind singh ji had this type of rachna as well, specifically in sri dasam granth sahib for example- composition named chandi di // reflects this type of rachna. If one studies chandi di //- sri guru gobind singh ji has given gurmat sidhant in the first(bhaugati ki //) and second pauri of chandi di //. Both pauries is Salutations (Namaskar) to Sri Akaal Purkh. Then if one looks at the third pauri, its preface of chandi di //. Finally then fourth pauri of Chandi Di // is composition directly translated in punjabi taken from 757 stanza of source "Markandai Puran" all the way to last stanza of markandai puratan. ====================================================================================== My response Not only in the beginning but throughout these compositions guru sahib's own writings that have no connection to any puranas/Hindu texts are found. In essence his own composition and views are interspersed in these epics. For example Guns and cannons boom in Chandi charitras. There were no cannons when markandey wrote his purana. There are beautiful shabads in chaubis avtars for example he "rav he sas meri abe benti sunn leeje". In krishna avtar whole parsang of kharag singh (forms major part) is nowhere in any purana. In this real hero is kharag singh who throws krishna on ground by pulling from hair and then let him go saying if he kills him whom he will fight. So dasam granth sahib in entirety is a priceless granth of Guru sahib. It is complex in structure and people who have not studied it should not comment negatively. Dr balbir singh , brother of Bhai veer singh has rightly written that in Dasam Granth there are hidden sparks and with time they will bloom and lead sikh nation to its pristine glory.

  12. India Must Ban Child Labor Posted: 12/21/2012 10:35 am Gordon Brown Pressure is mounting on the Indian Parliament to end child labour after 150,000 Indians signed an abolition petition demanding an immediate change in the child labour laws. The petition follows the recent revelation of slave labour conditions under which young children of eight and nine were making Christmas decorations. Currently dangerous work is outlawed in India -- but there is no blanket ban yet on child labour under the age of fourteen. As a result India accounts for some of the worst excesses in global child labour; overall fifteen million children worldwide work full time when they should be at school. This week the children who escaped slave conditions have spoken of their fate and about their ambitions for the future. During their horrific ordeal they were trafficked, exploited, imprisoned and denied food and their stories underline the urgent action needed to end child labour. They would still be making tree decorations and other trinkets but for the courageous rescue carried out by Kailash Satyarthi and his co-leaders of Bachpan Bachao Andolan (BBA) and Global March Against Child Labour (GMACL). Their captors were slave masters who had them trafficked from Indian provinces. Often their parents were tricked into believing they were leaving to be given free education. Their stories, recounted in a new film published on our website EducationEnvoy.org, reveal a pattern of child abuse. The first child featured on the film is eleven year old Rahim from Malman Nagariain. From the moment he boarded a train to India's capital he became a prisoner and was eventually confined to a dark and dingy sweatshop in LNJP colony. He was forced to work 18 hours a day with only two recesses of ten minutes each for eating. He was never allowed to leave the premises and had to cook food for himself and his employer inside the sweatshop. He was often scolded and hit for being slow at work. His employer did not pay him a single rupee for his work despite being promised INR1500 per month. Now free he wants to study hard and become a soldier. Imran is eleven and hails from the Katihar district in Bihar. He was indentured to an employer who promised he could send home money to support his family. In the asphyxiating sweatshop, which also doubled up as his living quarters, Imran had to work 14 hours a day. While he produced quality Christmas ornaments and gifts for export, he was never paid anything. Imran will find it difficult to recover from his ordeal as his health suffered having to spend endless hours inhaling chemicals and adhesives. Though he is now free from the shackles of slavery and wants to go to school, the injuries he endured may be lasting, standing in the way of his ambition to be a teacher. He feels strongly that no child should experience what he went through. Aslam, twelve, is a native of Sipur village, Azam Nagar in the Katihar district. Despite being promised a good education he too ended up in the same dingy sweatshop in Delhi. Like the other rescued children he worked very long days, sleeping in the same room where he worked. He was never paid a single rupee. Interestingly he too now wants to be a teacher. Abdul came from the same village as Aslam. His parents sold him after they were promised their son would receive training to help him get a job. Instead he worked from 10am until midnight every day for months. He is now at BBA's transit Mukti Ashram rehabilitation centre whilst the legal formalities of his repatriation are completed so he can go home. Like Rahim, he wants to be soldier when he grows up. These boys tell similar stories -- from when they were trafficked through to being eventually rescued -- but they are only four of around fifteen million children not at school because they are forced to work. Only a bold change in the law and the policing of it will change the plight of these child slaves. So when the Indian parliament reconvenes in February, the Global March Against Child Labour is seeking a change in the law which bans forever child labour under fourteen and restricts the minimum age to eighteen. The bill has been drafted. Politicians of all parties support it. It just needs the time required to be heard in Parliament so it can be voted through and passed into law. Join us at EducationEnvoy.org in demanding the Indian people finally abolish child labour. Children should be putting up decorations not making them; the only work they should be doing is school work. Let's make 2013 the year child labour is consigned to history. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/gordon-brown/india-child-labor-laws_b_2345756.html

  14. AKJ singhs of India are firm believers in Dasam Bani. There was a reinsabhai at fatehgarh sahib last week and singhs of jatha recited many shabads from Dasam Granth sahib. Bhai sahib Randhir singh ji himself a firm believer in Dasam bani.Akal ustat, bachitra natak and chndi di vaar were part of his nitnem. Having said that there are some claiming to be akj , mostly based in UK, who are against Dasam granth sahib and are supporters of person like dhundha as was evident from dhundha's visit to uK a few weeks back. In my view such people should be exposed as they are a disgrace to akj. There should be open discussion on this instead of suppressing this issue.Only then we will know the fakes.

  16. I don't nomally like to get into these debates but this is an ironic debate given the battle of Chamkaur is being commemorated. As we commemorate the battle of Chamkaur, how many people are aware of who Bhai Sangat Singh Ji was? How many gurdwarae around the world ackowledge what he did and the community he was from and the sacrifices made by that community? "Inhi ki kirpa kay saje hum hai" - what was the history behind that?Fast forward that to 1984, it is little wonder that gurdwarae are ashamed to ackowledge sacrifices made by non-jatts, as if it somewhow belittles the contribution made be jatts. Subsequently, a generation of so-called Sikhs will emerge with little or no knowledge of their own history. I recall my father telling me that whilst he was at work on 31st October 1984 in Heathrow Airport, news emerged that Indira Ghandi had been assasinated by her own Sikh bodyguards, the jatts were beside themselves. Honestly, they were literally doing bhangra in Terminal 3. The usual hyperbole was spoken of i.e. "we knew a jatt would take revenge" etc. The following day, however, it emerged it was Shaheed Bhai Beant Singh Ji and the community he was from. Quite frankly, the the same jatts who were so over joyed that they were almost incontinent 24 hours previously, were now as quiet as a mouse. Either they all have split personalities or they simply couldn't bring it within themselves that a non-jatt could finish her off. They shouldn't be surprised, afterall this has been happening from the days of Bhai Sangat Singh ji. Quite pathetic. Actually, very, very pathetic indeed.

  17. Anyone spot the post where Harmandir Sahib Sarovar is being put in the same boat as ganga? With this type of illogic thinking Khanda Bhatte da Amrit is no different than the janeu. Can anyone share how Harmandir Sahib Sarovar is different than ganga? What is the ganga missing. Also just in case the Brahmins come in and trying to play mind tricks and say they are the same. Remember two concepts of Sri Vaheguru Ji Maharaj; Nirgun and Sargun. The ganga are missing one of these. If the Brahmin says it only needs one, then tell the Brahmins to go take a bath in cow blood. Cow blood also has one of the two. :biggrin2:

Jacobsen, Kristina Myrvold.I have only read a few pages in this book yet... focusing on Spanish Sikhs but it has already been a real eye opener regarding Caste and Gurdwara politics. I think its sometimes good to get outside perspectives on the Sikh community that is impartial from any baggage... I've been impressed with the amount of research done in this book. I recommend it...
