  1. These are the mahapurakhs/ Gursikhs that I know who practised Guru Gayatri Mantra 1) Sant Baba Attar Singh Ji Mastuana wale did abhyass of this shabad while at Hazoor Sahib 2) Baba Harnam Singh Ji Rampurkhede wale 3) Giani Thakur Singh Ji talked about it many times during his katha, he said if Moolmantar is the King of all Mantras, then Guru Gayatri Mantra is the General. 4) One abhyaasi Gursikhi called it the crown of all mantras 5) Sri Harbhajan Singh Yogi called it the Shakti Mantra, essence of Jaap Sahib, just like moolmantra is the essence of Sri Japji Sahib 6) Dhan Dhan Baba Nand Singh ji kaleran wale, used this Guru Gayatri Mantra as one of the sampats in a Sampat Path that he finished in 2 years. I feel that mantra is a mantra, there is nothing hindu or sikh about it, it is a science that we cannot understand and that our Gurus have given to us. One should practise the jaap for a long time, if they really want to genuinely learn about it.

  6. WJKK WJKF I was recently at a path and people were eating store made cookies, pastries etc without even checking the ingredients (many were even amritdhari). And frequently you'll see people serving doughnuts (made with eggs) and pizza (made with rennet) being served for langar at kids programs at the Gurdwara. Now my question is would an amritdhari who unawarely ate pizza with rennet (or pastries with eggs) have to go pesh? Or even just ate something with animal by products by accident. Sorry if I offended anyone, I just asked it because it's been on my mind for years and I see it happen a lot. WJKK WJKF

  9. Gurdas Maan has done more to popularise the sharabi-kababi culture in Punjab than any other singer. In the past singers used to sing about the social issues of the day but Gurdas Maan has gone to the other extreme popularising sharab in songs such as Apna Punjab Hovey. Not even in the west do you get songs popularising alcoholism, I wonder how any families and young lives have been ended through the influence of his songs. He is a total disgrace.

  10. The biggest problem is people in Punjab still listen to his garbage. Here in Canada and America he isn't as big as he was before. Having Babbar Khalsa take care of him is just going to give us a bad name because the Indian media is going to write stories in a way to make us look like the bad guys. The best thing that can be done is somehow getting people to boycott his stuff. A lot of DJs in Canada have refused to play his music at parties. Once his popularity drops you'll see him throwing out titles called "satguru nanak pargateya mitti dhund jag chanan hoya". Bhul Chuk Maaf. WJKK WJKF

  12. Yeah, boycotting the elections was a disastrous decision. It literally lead to the downfall of the Kharkoo movement. Baba Manochahal had great political insight and wanted Sikhs to not only win on the battle field but also on the political field.

  13. Pizza is made with Mozzarella cheese. Mozzarella is made using an enzyme called rennet, and traditionaly that is the lining of an animal's stomach. Whether or not the pizza you eat has that meat rennet depends largely, these days, on whether you live in the UK or Canada / America. In north America, if you eat a pizza made from any of the large pizza chains, or even a frozen pizza, there's still a good chance the mozzarella will have been made using animal rennet. In the UK however, it is actually extremely rare for meat rennet to be used so the mozzarella will more likely be made from vegetable rennet, thus totally suitable for all Sikhs.

  14. Why not.. light away..!! Jot outside can be seen as reminder/pointer for a seeker to go introvert realize jot inside via NAAM just do a test look at jot for couple of secs, something resonates naturally in one self if one is aware of inner feeling/mind...lighting jot while simran is seen as small component which is there as aid for seeker to help during one transition spiritual development process from sargun to Nirgun parbhram- Absolute reality/truth...!!!

  17. To put it frankly 'any' rights in Punjab for Sikhs that are not controlled by an oppressive regime are a bonus. If they said tomorrow you can have a separate state, even better a distinct Country we would bite their hand off. By the same token Sikhs also have to take small progressive steps and fight for our rights at a political level. Creating awareness of who are we are is a fantastic start and the use of the web for people wanting to learn about Sikhi through various channels has been a God send. Unless a miracle happens and with a complete lack of military or martial skills, Sikhs as it stands are not ready to fight with arms. Sad to say but the Sipahi aspect in the majority of us has diminished considerably.

  20. Dear bhenjee Baba Tera Gola, sorry, but from the user name the gender is not clear. Any how, we must bear in mind exactly what is Wahiguru? Does not the Bani say that: even if there were hundered of moons and thousands of suns together, even then there would be utter darkness ...without a Guru Now who or what is a Guru Sahiban? Is not He, the manifestation of Akal Purukh? And so if the refulgence of the light from Akal Purukh is more than countless billions of suns and moons together , does He need the light of our lamp? The example could be, like lighting a candle and showing it to the sun.....we may laugh at this situation, but that is how we people are. In the same way, just as the sun who is the fountain of light and life for this planet earth, what would it gain with the light of a simple candle offered by us? Or even with a 1000 watts bulb. You see, we humans do imbibe and copy unconscioussly what we see others doing. It is we, who are in the darkness, who need the light of His Light, not He, who is the Light of all the existence, whether material, astral, causal, or even pure spiritual. So please never ever think that , if we do not lit a lamp for Him, it is a disrespect to Him. We people are very narrow minded, we even judge Him with our limited perspective ..... We should take the support by walking in His Light, so that we may not suffer any loss. But then, He is not something physical, how could we get benefitted from His Light? The answer is, to walk with the guidance of His Bani, which works as Light at this our physical level for us. And once we enter the spiritual realms, we should take the support there with His other swaroop, which is His real swaroop, and that is His Nam, His Shabad. That is why the Bani says: Main andhuley kee tek, Tera Nam aadhaar. I am blind, your Nam is my support, your Nam is the stick with which I am able to walk. Our Guru Sahibans are the embodiment of Akal Purukh, of Wahiguru, on the earth. They are also the embodiment of His Bani, His chetanta, His consciousness, thus His Light. So at physicall level, we get their guidance through their physicall Light, and on the spiritual realms, we get the guidance of their spiritual Light, which is Nam or Shabad, which is the real form of Guru Sahibans as well as of Akal Purukh. You see, the physical body is not the Guru. It is the Shabad Power operative in them, which makes them so dear and lovely to us, otherwise their bodies are also made from the 5 tattwas, just as ours, which both of them will have to leave behind one day. The Bani clearly says: Shabad Guru, Surat Dhun chela. The Shabad is the true Guru, and thus, the chela, the sikh, the disciple is also not the body, but the soul, which is just a particle, a musical note of that Akhand Bani, or Akhand Shabad Dhun, which is Wahiguru Himself. Do lit the lamp, or not outside, but we must remember, that this our very body, is the temple where He is to be found. The Bani says: Har mandir eheu sareer hae, gyan ratan pargat hoe. Means, this body is the living temple of God, where if we search for Him, we shall find the true gems of His knowledge, His Light. So it is in the temple of this body where we should lit the lamp, with His Nam Simran. Then this lamp will give that much Light, that, it will guide us back till Sach Khand. May Wahiguru bless all.

  22. I totally agree with harsharan000 that is just a representation of wanting to change the darkness to light. A Jot is lit at Akhand Paaths aswell, many Singh do Sampath Paath aswell with the Jot lit and keep the Maryada. Singhs back in the days use to light the Jot to show reverence to Waheguru, to remind them that he is the Ultimate Jot out of respect and it was also used to provide light for Akhand Paaths during that time, as they was no electricity. But don't get confused, we are not doing Pooja of the Jot, nor doing a ritual, the Jot is just there to show reverence to Akaal Purukh. Many Mahapurshs have done Vichaar on this that have Brahmgian. And also if you have pictures in your house of Guru Gobind Singh, it is ok as long as you don't do pooja of it. I don't want to offend you or anything but I have been to Punjab, and alot of Gursikh piarae have been brainwashed by the Sikh Missionary Dhunda, And I have personally myself seen them removing Jots from Gurdwara Sahibs. There is nothing wrong of lighting a Jot while doing Paath to show reverence out of Respect. If you give piar to Waheguru, he will return it 100 times back.

  23. Good post bro, i agree with most of it except Current British constitution equal rights for all should not be held responsible for previous gov't forgein policy. No one is asking sikhs to go to france, we cannot expect all countries to welcome immigrants, they may have their reasons however justified or not justified based on their opression history, its not only sikhs- christians, hindus, muslims have same issues there in france. Best way we can do is follow gurbani universal message ourselves in our seperate land. I m not totally against khalistan, i would support it if its constitutions based on secular gurbani universal message/ anandpur sahib resolution as soon as its constitution is driven by jathas/samparda's/group politics/agenda - i refuse to support it and i m sure it will lose lot of neutral people support. I would support khalistan if church and state (still driven by universal gurbani message) are kept seperate. Also i support khalistan based on peaceful means, as soon there is violence..movement is gone down hill and would loose its support -especially at this modern day and age. It's proven fact, most peaceful movements are successful, toughest to infiltrate and sabotage from outside as it tends to win mass public/celebrity opinion and support compare to violent movement etc. I would even support the idea of renaming khalistan to sikhistan, sikhmark, sikhghar, sikh mahal etc and let highly educated -political economic science degree holder and spiritual sikhs to start fresh/restructure ideas/anandpur sahib resolution as khalistan name itself have too many negative violent connotations (whether from media/goi and or sikh itself self inflicted image) attached to it.

  24. Its not nonsense Here it is (Jaap Sahib): Together with (Guru Granth Sahib ji) As I was studying at Baru Sahib, we were told to recite this along with mool mantar (til Nanak hosi bhi Sach) and Chaupai Sahib (Kabyo bach benti) apart from the 7 banis nitnem (5 in the morning, Rehras in the evening + Kirtan Sohila before sleep) .

  25. There is not even one pre singh sabha translations which supports your translations its ridiculous..do check farid kot teeka, read pandit narian singh dasam granth teeka...the first time i realized how insecure neo tat khalsa were, when i read your sarbloh granth translations regarding gyan and bhagti ..its literally showed how desperate/insecure you were regarding your wrapped neo tat khalsa idealogy that you have adhere to...you made up as you went all along, ... I call spade a spade as i see there is systematic brainwashing of youths making them more self absorbed in their vanity false pride and i choose to uphold old traditional gurmat than reformist one... there is no down playing there is no beating around bushes...we hosted all types of right wing/left nut jobs on sikhawareness so we know all different types. You have nothing else to offer against same old crap against vedas by rejecting all of it, if you reject theological framework of vedas-vaishvanvas/vishiadvaita/advaita-vedant you are inadvertently rejecting gurbani aspects- advait/bhagti aspect in gurmat as its theological/etmology framework is one and same. Ultimate Bhram/divine expereince of sikh saints and hindu saints is one and same, bhramgyan avastha- turiya avastha/turiya atith avastha is one and same. I have spent good time with hindu collegue freinds, build up dialogue with them (patch up interfaith relationship which neo khalistanis destroyed) regarding sikhi/indic snatan dharma at work and also read upanishads/vedas- essence message is very similiar, those hindus at work are at advance level meditation practitioners, none of them beleive in crap you demonize them.

  26. Dear brother, lighting lamps, is just a representation of wanting to change the darkness to light. Mahapurukhs tell us, that, Wahiguru Akal Purukh has the Light of countless suns and moons together, even then that light is no match to Wahiguru´s. That is the splendour and refulgence in Sach Khand. Wahiguru is Nam, is Shabad also, we can say it is a Superconscious energy, with all that implies. And as such, when His Darshan is had, we hear celestial blissful melodies, and have the chance to see His Akhand Jot. And all that is already inside each one of us, irrespective of caste, creed, class or mazab. The Bani in Anand Sahib says: Nam jin ke maan vaseeya, vajeh Shabad ganere. Means, when we concentrate our dhyan through Nam Simran, and have made that Nam "ajaapa" within us, we can hear that Shabad reverbating within us. Further on the bani says: Anter Jot, Niranter Bani, Sachay Sahib siu liv laee. This means, when the practice of Nam, has been firmly established in our minds, we then hear that Anhad Bani, and have the darshan of the Jot of Wahiguru, and this very practice, produces real love in our hearts, for the true Lord Wahiguru. Wahiguru has blessed us with this human form, so that we may light the Light of lights within us, and remove once and forever, the layers of agyanta and sins. It is by listening this Shabad, that our sins, our karmas are burnt. That is why, in Jap Ji Sahib, it is said: Suniyeh, dhook paap sabh naas. Listen to this Shabad, and all your sins, which are the cause of your sorrow and pain, shall be wiped away . So, the thing is we may light as many as lamps we want, even fill the whole universe with them if we want, and the sky becomes bright with that light. But if we do not light our interior with the Light of Nam, we shall continue wandering in the darkness. Our state now is, that if we close our eyes, we see darkness. And our aim should be, we should gather so much dhan of Nam within us, that if we close our eyes, we can see that Akhand Jot of Wahiguru Akal Purukh within us. It is our choice what we do, and how we use our lives. So let us be wise, and use our lives, to fill ourselves with His Light, to the extent, that we become a living Lamp, of His Light. And once this Light is lit within us, no wind can blow it, nor water extinguish it, neither here, nor in the next world, till the time comes, when our tiny little Lamp(soul), goes and merges in the huge Sun(Wahiguru), becoming one with it. P.S: dear son, you seem to be quite young, yet your thinking is pure and quite ahead of your age. Can we know how old are you?

  29. What kind of hate is going on? Matrimonials usually have a preference for clean shaven, sardar, or amritdhari. I find the caste listings to be extremely disappointing, especially since the matrimonials are associated with the gurdawara. Sikhi is totally against caste. Gurdwaras should know better. One piece of advice to fellow sardars... some of us need to take more pride in our appearance. We are kings and we should present ourselves in that manner. Take pride when dressing up `and tying your dastaar. It goes a long way.
