  8. We all gargle cups of gurbani-medicine day and night but hardly anyone adapt one owns nature virtues gurbani talks about sat-truth -honesty/sincerity- santokh, dya, dharam, prem, gyan, biraag, advait, sam dristhi and let gurbani go deeply, penetrate inside when we read gurbani and let gurbani consume the seeker. It's like us want to full fill some dogmatic notions so we can feel better about our selves-false sense of security, try to control others -while coping out overall gurmat message, than really genuinely change ourselves according to gurmat and gurbani.

  9. In a forest, a pregnant deer is about to give birth. She finds a remote grass field near a strong-flowing river. This seems a safe place. Suddenly labour pains begin. At the same moment, dark clouds gather around above & lightning starts a forest fire. She looks to her left & sees a hunter with his bow extended pointing at her. To her right, she spots a hungry lion approaching her. What can the pregnant deer do? She is in labour! What will happen? Will the deer survive? Will she give birth to a fawn? Will the fawn survive? Or will everything be burnt by the forest fire? Will she perish to the hunters' arrow? Will she die a horrible death at the hands of the hungry lion approaching her? She is constrained by the fire on the one side & the flowing river on the other & boxed in by her natural predators. What does she do? She focuses on giving birth to a new life. The sequence of events that follows are: - Lightning strikes & blinds the hunter. - He releases the arrow which zips past the deer & strikes the hungry lion. - It starts to rain heavily, & the forest fire is slowly doused by the rain. - The deer gives birth to a healthy fawn. In our life too, there are moments of choice when we are confronted on αll sides with negative thoughts and possibilities. Some thoughts are so powerful that they overcome us & overwhelm us. Maybe we can learn from the deer. The priority of the deer, in that given moment, was simply to give birth to a baby. The rest was not in her hands & any action or reaction that changed her focus would have likely resulted in death or disaster. Ask yourself, Where is your focus? Where is your faith and hope? In the midst of any storm, do keep it on God always. He will never ever dissapoint you. NEVER. Remember, He neither slumbers nor sleep...

  14. No I haven't disrespected her in any way. It's ur problem u can't understand what I have written and misinterpreted it. All I said was do what she wants to if it makes her happy. Haven't u read my points about seva? Stop trying to cause trouble by picking out grammatical errors. But if u also read her first post and last post it is confusing, as I can't understand why she is asking if her parents don't have a problem with it, which is totally different from how the first post is portrayed. Read it then u will see the confusion, and where did I say she is a bad person. People sometimes like to create problems that don't exist, and that's what u have done. How dare u say that? No she has showed confusion to me and that's my opinion. I said nothing wrong to her, so I will not say sorry for something u have created. B Singh. And as far as respect goes I am not asking it from u. I could also say u disrespected me. I think u are trying to create anger and frustration on this site thus a new account u come on here, but u know what I don't care, coz only God can judge me, not some trouble maker on the internet. So think what u like when u don't even know me. God is not only watching me, but u too, for twisting my personal opinions into something which they are not, there wasn't even the need for u to comment on my views, maybe u are jealous that I have an opinion. Humiliation would have been if I swore at her, or said bad things, or said she was a bad person, I did nothing of the sort. But thanks for being the judge. If ur an existing member that's made a new account, I'd rather u message me and we can clear up any misunderstandings, instead of hiding in a new account, and bullying me. if I was humiliating anybody, it's funny how I seem to get members messaging me and telling me they like my views and complain about others, maybe coz they know I am not here to cause trouble but try to help when I can. Maybe sometimes my advice don't make sense, but that could be due to my brain damage. So if anybody has any issues with message me then if I feel I am wrong I will apologise to them regarding which issue. Which a lot of u know by now where I am wrong I always say sorry, if I honestly think I wrote nothing wrong, no need to say it.

  16. I think all right minded Sikhs are now waiting for all those community elders and organisation members present on that sad day at Derby Gurdwara to distance themselves from this persons comments and behaviour. Inside closed doors a person may do as they please within reason and harbour whichever views he or she wishes. But to say such shocking, harmful, evil words in the presence of Guru Granth Sahib Ji and the sangat is unacceptable. I think if the leaders are serious about following the Gurus teachings, protecting our image, setting the right example to the next generation then this should be referred to the Akal Takhat for them to make a decision on, such is the gravity of what happened. This would send out the signal that we do not adhere to mere words but those words speak through our actions. I think this is a landmark event. Nothing of this type has ever happened before from a U.K Gurdwara stage or indeed probably a Gurdwara stage anywhere. This will also prove to our brothers and sisters who feel alienated because of such people that we are not all the same. It will be interesting to see what step is now taken.

  17. Then do what you want. If your parents are fine with it, why are you even asking on here. I have wasted my time on what I thought was trying to help, but I am missing the point somewhere, and after Ops last post have misunderstood the first post. Still don't understand what the point being made is. If it's aimed at those being forced to marry and giving options to do seva in their instead, great from that view as nobody should be forced to marry. But really not getting who has to say no. If you had put all this in your first post, there would have been no confusion. But it also sounds like you are belittling those that have got married. That isn't a very clever thing to pray do, as now your last post saying something different. Your family is happy with you and you are happy, so why are you even trying to encourage youngsters not to get a life, If you think everybody has been forced that's wrong too. Good luck with your personal satisfaction. But your posts are confusing, first you say your mom thinks your selfish, now its a totally different story. Good you want to do seva, go for and do it. And youngsters being forced to get married nowadays is not like before. There is so much freedom compared to when your parents probably got married.

  18. sant ji was the greatest thing to happen for sikhs in the past century . punjab back then was like how it is now very corrupt, drunkyards everywhere the young men all turning to druggies. Sant jarnail singh bhindrawale ji took a stand and got many of the young ppl off drugs and got them to remember there religion. if this is considered terrorist then something is wrong. but i have a feeling that the sikhs of punjab are waking up.

  19. I believe most people commenting here are not married. Some of them don't want to get married, some don't want kids. Let me tell you, A long time ago, before coming into Sikhi( born into sikh family but never was a Sikh), I wanted to be a NUN as I got my schooling from a catholic school. I didn't want any family. No husband, no kids and wanted to stay away from my parents. That was my PLAN. Did it happen? NO Guruji had different plans for me. Now I am Amritdhari, married and have a kid. SO JUST CHILL!! :biggrin2:

  20. Seeing NATO'S and USA'S surrender of their Afghan campaign, although kudos to the fact that they gave Islamic radicals a taste of their own medicine, I have decided to do a short article on Hari Singh Nalwa's conquest of Afghanistan. Presently I am doing an article on Nalwa himself, and would love to do a second one on his exploits in Afghanistan. I would like to incorporate and answer the following points in my article: - What makes Hari Singh's conquest of Afghanistan so different from prior conquests lead by the Macedonians and the Marathas? - What political, social and religious factors assisted Nalwa in consolidating his prowess in Afghanistan? - What military factors contributed towards Nalwa's victory in Afghanistan? - How does NATO'S campaign differ from Nalwa's? -What elements are similar in both historic and modern campaigns? -If anything what lesson can we derive from both Hari Singh Nalwa's and NATO'S campaigns? For those who don't know, tisarpanth blogspot is my intellectual possession and most of the articles on there are my work. However I am always on the lookout for a fresh perspective on matters and decided to inquire around on forums, to see what answers I can gain on this new topic of mine. Any historic sources you know of will also be appreciated in this matter.

  21. Interfaith marriages are a bigger problem to me and many Gursikhs. Because their child might go one way or another picking a faith such as Hinduism over Sikhism. This can lead to blending different aspects of both faiths by their children which should not be allowed as we know Anti-Panthic forces want Sikhism to merge into Hinduism and with Hindu-Sikh marriages going on it can get worse. Of course there are Christian-Sikh marriages and Muslim-Sikh marriages. This is my own opinion.

  22. You need to be clear that Nalwa's victories over the Afghans were in areas that had historically, linguistically and ethnically had been a part of Afghanistan ie the NWFP of Pakistan, now called Kyber-Pakhtoonkhwa. Nalwa did not cross the Khyber pass into the present day Afghanistan.

  23. Fateh . . . The confusion over the dates related to sikh historic events continues. I look at the Nanakshai Jantri at SGPC.net where it states that Vaisakhi is on 13th Apr 2014; where as other websites and other information reports this to be on the 14th Apr 2014 http://www.calendarlabs.com/calendars/religious/sikh-calendar.php Frustrating to the least; the world must be having at Sikhs who cant even agree on having an agreed date for their own events; let alone other matters. Divide and rule surely comes to mind. My rant for the day I guess. Fateh . . . .

There is nothing to, "Once in a while shouldnt we relax our strict definitions ",, it is a fact given stated in the SIKH REHAT MARYADA on how we name our new borne children and they get Snghs and as Kaurs as their last names. What is so complicated in this fact that you are finding so difficult to fathom?

  26. VJKK VJKF, Sangat ji, as you have all ready said, this was all Kirpa of Guruji and Guru ki Sangat ji. We were just going about doing our parchar and the muslims guys started to approach our Singhs and questioning them. They were already aware of our "Street Parchar" and also previously they had made a "whitewash" video condemning the grooming which had also criticised as it just defended Islam rather than dealt with the issue. They approached us, they had questions and obviously we didn't want to look like we didn;t want to deal with this. As you saw, they did pick their best man or maybe he picked himself and he came with this silly argument. He's used this argument in so many of his videos, its probably his favourite and as you can see, he got to it straight away. Mahraaj kirpa, we batted him off but really since it was being filmed, our job was to ensure that Sikhi parchar got across rather than just let him talk. He's probably used to Sikhs who have nothing to say back so this is where his confidence began to break. Daas is grateful for your kind words but really, its all Guru's kirpa that so many of our youth got to watch this video and saw a Saabat Soorat Sikh tell the Dawah Man whats what about Sikh. A lot of our youth lack confidence and knowledge nowadays, both of which are linked tbh. We're going to making more videos that deal with this exact issue of countering conversion tactics. The main issue we have at the moment is lack of either committed volunteers or lack of funds to hire skilled people to do a lot of the admin and editing of our videos. If any sangata want to give us their sehyog and allow us to do more of our Gurus work, then please use http://bit.ly/1cRKGdz Whether its £5 a month or £50, all will go towards parchar and NOT building funds. Hopefully in a few years we can have 10-20 full time Sikh parchariks across the western world. Please do your ardaasa for us as well. "mere Raam Tor Bandhan Maaya, Ghar ke Kamm Laae"

Everybody with the slightest knowledge of Sikhi knows that Sikhi was around long b4 Aurangzeb but this dude is wasting ur time + others jus because he's sacred of the differences between Islam+Sikhi such as slavery, age of marriage, death to infidels etc
