  1. There are some more effective non violent actions 5hat can be taken. If the Punjabi Hindus in the Cities oppose Sikhs then boycott their shops, go to Sikh ones. The pounds and dollars not being spent with them will convince them that they should get on with the Sikhs. An action that people abroad can take when they visit Punjab.

  2. The problem lies in many faiths that preached in essence fairy tails. The main consensus of most Atheists is that most faiths conflict with their own views of the world i.e one governed my laws and not based on myths. They live under the impression that all theism is mindless and illogical as it preaches mindbogglingly strange things. Unfortunately many of them live in this cynicism and broadly reject all religions rather than a select few. It would be very hard to quantify who believes in a creator and who does not. For example Buddhism rejects the aspect of a creator but some class it as a religion? Many of my friends (I'm fairly certain vast amounts of other people as well) believe in god but do not believe in organized religion. Some believe that you're relationship with God is far more intimate this way.

  3. Thats exactly what I said a few messages ago when I talked about the article in the Times of India 5 days ago. That article made it clear that a powerfull shop owner in Jalandhar called Dinesh Khanna made disgusting remarks about Sikh Gurus and all the other Hindu shop keepers joined him and started pelting the Sikhs with bricks and stones. So thats Jalandhar city centre, the place that 80% of the overseas Sikhs do their shopping when back in Punjab. And yet here we are 4 or 5 days later and yet still no Sikh organisation anywhere has supplied any of the overseas Sikhs with the name of Dinesh Khanna's cloth shop and the names of the other shops that pelting sikhs with stones. We need the names of those shops so we can tell our families to boycott them. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Protesters-shopkeepers-clash-over-shutdown-call-in-Jalandhar/articleshow/49461702.cms

  4. That's another problem with apnay, especially rural ones. They have this strong tendency to continually blame outsiders and stubbornly refuse to see the part they play in a rotten situation. It's like critical self-reflection is a unknown concept amongst them. I mean for God's sake, Badal has been persistently voted in by Sikhs - and no small number in electoral terms. I'm telling you, we regularly screw ourselves over - but apnay have such frail egos, that facing up to this truth is too much for them. So they'd rather continually bleat on about amorphous outside agencies so they don't have to confront their own embarrassing kartootaan.

  5. And what of the same Sikh personnel in 1947? In the 80's? What happened then? Where were they? They were shipped out or kept at arm's length so as not to assist their brethren. If we believe those Sikhs in the Indian army will help us when things go bad, we are in dream land. These people have pensions and families to worry about. Do you really believe they'll risk a lifetime's worth of service for an insurgency that won't bear any fruits and that will result in them being labelled as "traitors"? These questions and issues are self-explanatory. They don't even merit too much consideration; that's how basic they are.

Bhaji, Maths is all around us, science is all around us, to the most intricate of DNA structures to the swirling planets and galaxies, but at the heart of it all is Naam and Simran and at the heart of that is only ek-on-kar, the one Guru we all bow down to. There is so much going on in our lives, so so much, but we must not forget the soul purpose of our existence, to remember our Guru with every breath we take.

  9. Just today I was going through the Gurbani, and coincidentally, I felt Guru Jee was talking to me, and giving me a perfect answer to the topic of this thread, which left me amazed, as how, if we are sicere and seek His guidance, He blesses us with it, through His Bani. Following are the words of Ninth Patshahee in Raag Jaijavanti: ਸਗਲ ਭਰਮ ਡਾਰਿ ਦੇਹਿ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਲੇਹਿ Sagal Bharam Ddaar Dhaehi Gobindh Ko Naam Laehi सगल भरम डारि देहि गोबिंद को नामु लेहि Give up all your doubts, and utter the Naam, the Name of the Lord. At the very last moment, this alone shall go along with you Let us ask ourselves, what is it that which will take me out of the mayavee creation and make me worthy to merge and become with Him, which also means mukti. And by keeping in mind at all times, mukti is got only by one means, one jugtee, there are no substitutes as such, like one type for ordinary beings, other type for the warriors, and so on for different religions etc .... etc ....etc Dhan Dhan Satguru Teg Bhadaur Maharaj Jee, clearly says, to get mukti, utter the Name of the Lord, means do His simran only. We may ask, why this? Because I do so many other things, which acording to my beliefs are part and parcel of my dharam ..... Well, to questions of this nature, Guru Jee says, because it is the kamaee of Naam simran, which will only go with you and allow you to be guided by Shabad Guru within. All other activities, which we may do, fall under the label of subh karam at most, and as such are not only the reasons for not getting any mukti, but surely, are like golden chains around our necks, which ensure our going and coming in the wheel of countless births and deaths, thus continue remaining prisoners in this mayavee creation. And so, if we willingly sacrifice our precious human life, and we do not do His simran as mentioned by Guru Jee above to achieve mukti... this means, we will never achieve it, becasue we have not fulfilled our obligation of doing His bhakti, for which we came as human beings... And if we miss the chance in this life of doing it, what guarantee is there that we will do it another birth? And who knows, when will we get a human birth again? As it is not easy to be born as humans. Politicians, devil minded leaders in disguise of fake "sadh janas", will encite or induce us to do wrong things, to the extent, to make us give away our lives for going after shadows, with false promises and arguments..... But, we have to overcome and survive, inspite of all these adversities, temptations .... And for that purpose, there is only one way, and that is none other than to get the guidance from Gurbani alone, because by doing so, we open the doors , the vessels of our beings, in being receptive to His apaar Kirpa, His Daya Meher upon us, and thus get mukti. Mukti, or union with Him, is not achieved by any amount of our efforts, but, by His Grace alone, that too, if only we follow His Hukum. Sat Sree Akal.

  11. I don't think we need any more leaders we need less. What we really need (and people have alluded to this above) is individual common-sense which spreads out as a restraining force amongst our society. We keep looking up to some saviour to come along so we don't have to go through the personal discomfort of being at least someone who doesn't add to the rot by their inaction or silence. We need to be criticising our own society a lot more.

  12. I've very little knowledge of Punjabi politics. I didn't know things were that bad. I guess a 'None of the above' choice is out of the question, lol? That aside, you must've heard of tales of Badal buying votes with something as simple as bottles of alcohol for the drunks and druggies that populate Punjab? In the face of such retrograde attitudes the task to turn the situation around is an uphill one.

  13. Sikhs in Punjab don't need more leaders. What they need is to be disassociated from the mentality that is part and parcel of their existence. Even the most educated and sophisticated native Punjabi suffers from many of the same neuroses and prejudices that people from the humblest backgrounds possess even those with little or no qualifications. It goes much deeper than that. Setting up an institution to churn out what are, in effect, more politician-type personalities is not the way.

  14. we do not need cookie cutter leaders who are concentrated in one geographical location , truth is every sikh child has to be made a selfsufficient autonomous leader in themselves for sikhi to survive. All Gurdwarey are supposed to be honing our minds to give bibek buddhi, political history/theory classes, language classes, martial skills that is were the money needs to redirected instead of marriage halls. We should also have many lower caste/poor upliftment programs : free medicine and treatment, vetinary services for poor farmers, organic farming training and water preservation techniques will be a priority . Guru Gobind Singh ji four sons were each individually strong of mind, belief, spirit and body...that is our model to copy our older siblings

  16. I should have been more clear, I am NOT encouraging anyone to try and revive militancy again. I'm saying when we needed justice in the 80s and 90s, we didnt get it through protests. Didnt work then, wont work now, but now instead of militancy, we need a political takeover of both SGPC and state government. I dont mean takeover via Arab Spring/African foreign regieme change methods, we can all see how well that ends, not too mention no foreigners have interest to help fund a coup in Punjab. I dont know why people mention those events as if its something we should try to imitate. There are many youth still today willing to fight, usually not the outspoken ones, but there are some. But of course with zero leadership and training, its useless. I just dont understand how these protests are considered useful? As far as I can recall protests have never gotten Sikhs any significant results. Especially ones in the Western world, at least the recent Punjab protests achieved some backlash against Badals, but theyre starting to become a nuisance to many Sikhs. Now is the time to call Sarbat Khalsa and to try and regain control over SGPC. Destroy all credebility of SGPC leadership and force your way into the picture. I believe this is the course of action right now. Act now while we have some momentum. The state elections are still in 2017, by then we will have likely forgotten all this, so we need to focus on SGPC as its our best shot at some success. Also the farmers are angry with the govt right now, but give it some months, Badal will find a way to please them in time for elections and probably win again. Youre 100% right, that was our chance and we lost. They were simply too conniving and resourceful for us. But at least we can say it wasnt their might that defeated us.

  17. That won't work anymore, especially when the other side have weaponry that'll make our AK's resemble muskets compared to their arms. I don't know about you, but I'm sick and tired of being the valiant loser. Don't you want to win? No, we need to look at certain events in Africa in the 70's and 80's, when foreigners sponsored by heavy duty financiers and military sources would undertake coups to destabilise and overthrow regimes and then install themselves as the law of that particular region. I'm sorry, but western Sikh youth raised on a diet of Call of Duty and riddled with jathebandi politics have neither the stomach or the knowledge to undertake such a fight. Many talk the talk but stumble when it comes to the act of walking. Neither will a rag-tag bunch of native Punjabi guerilla forces with NO training ever be able to put the hurt in where it'll count. Instead, they will be overrun by the vastly better organised and trained Indians. Faith and bharosa has its place, but it needs to be backed up by muscle and skill. One without the other, as Sikhs who believe in both the spirituality and temporality of existence, simply cannot bear any fruit. Protest is, for the time being, the best option. We need to stop imagining life is a movie where the good guys always win. Open any page of a history book and you'll see examples of the "baddies" not only winning but destroying the apparent good guys and wiping them from existence. That's just a fact of life. It's not fair but it happens. The older I get the more I'm beginning to suspect the perfect opportunity we had of gaining our homeland was during the uprising of the 80's. That was our moment. But poor planning scuppered it. Instead, we were cornered and neutralised. We needed to act when India was still considered to be somewhat of a third world country. Now it has aspirations of being a world player and such countries do not break apart without huge civil unrest.

  21. True. We need Jathadars like Hawara and Rajoana. Jathadar Bhai Ranjit Singh jee was also good and anakhi. Sikhs in the west need to be very active on the social media. This whole movment has reached the Sikhs worldwide and all over Punjab due to Facebook and Whatsapp. No major news channal is covering this. Even the Arab spring that happened a few years ago happened due to Facebook and such social platforms. What we are seeing now could be the turning point. BSF has now been sent all over Punjab for the first time in 20 yrs. If army also comes it might lead to something real bad. Sikhs in Punjab are also at boiling point. All Sikhs whether they are Panthpreet Singh or Dandrianwala are all united. This is panthic unity. Panj pyaras of Akal Takht have also given their open support.

  22. Paa Jee, as Kalyug moves forward in full force, dharm is bound to be on gradual decline. You see, you mention the situation of some few centuries back, and we can see how much changes have ocurred. So we sholud be baaram baar thankful to Him, as He has chosen us to be at the refuge of His Lotus Feet through Gurbani. It is good to have that feeling of pity for others; but in the end, we have to worry the more for us, to do as much bhakti as possible in this short human uncertain life, and carry that spiritual wealth with us. For the rest, we may think in the terms as the Bani says, to whom He wants back, He makes them aware of Himself and makes them do His bhakti through His apaar Kirpa, and the remaining ones, He keeps them busy in the different roles, in His grand play. Sat Sree Akal.

Upkar Sandhu said, “The recent incidents of Sacrilege of Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and pardon to Dera Sirsa Ram Rahim are shocking, which is why I have decided to quit.” Sandhu also slammed the Punjab government for killing two persons during agitation and also claimed that he was upset with the suspension of Panj Pyaras by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC). 26. http://dailysikhupdates.com/thousands-gather-outside-faridkot-dc-office-in-support-of-accused-sikh-brothers/ Thousands of Sikhs , including the panchayat members of Panjgrain Khurd, and nearby village on Friday reached Faridkot to submit a memorandum to the deputy commissioner (DC) demanding immediate release of two brothers Rupinder Singh and Jaswinder Singh who were framed by Punjab Police on Tuesday in connection with the first case of alleged desecration of Dhan Dhan Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj at Bargari village on October 12. There was a protest march on 23 October 2015 by Panthic groups from Panjgrain Kalan to Faridkot, where there was a large Panthic gathering outside the DC Office. This was in support of the two brothers Bhai Rupinder Singh and Bhai Jaswinder Singh, who have been arrested and falsely accused by the Police of committing the Bargari Beadbi. The Sikh Panth has not accepted such accusations and Panthic personalities have spoken out in their defence, demanding for the false registered cases to be withdrawn immediately and the real perpetrators found and punished. Baba Ranjit Singh Khalsa Dhadrianwale had said this was a drama being created to hide the truth. Alleging frame-up, the protesters said Rupinder and Jaswinder were innocent. The protesters, led by Sikh leaders Baljeet Singh Daduwal, Sukhjeet Singh Khosa of the satkar committee, Paramjeet Singh Khalsa, president of the Sikh Students Federation (Mehta), Ranjeet Singh Dhandrianwale, Panthpreet Singh, Amrik Singh Ajnala, head of Damdami Taksal, Daler Singh Kheriwale, Rajinder Singh Majhi, Daler Singh Doad, Surjeet Singh Arianwale and Dhian Singh Mand, assembled at Panjgrain Khurd gurdwara and reached Faridkot around 1:30 pm Besides people from Panjgrain Khurd, residents of Panjgrain Kalan, Malke, Saho Ke, Smalsar, Thathi Bhai, Sekha, Faridkot and Kotkapura towns also joined the protest march and were not ready to buy the police theory that the two brothers were involved in the desecration of Dhan Dhan Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj . http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x3awn27_in-support-of-sikh-brothers_news U can deffo c, how ppl of panjab KNOW this is badal doing the beadbi , n framing innocent sikhs, that all sikhs r takin to the streets!

  28. I think maybe Guru Sahib is sacrificing themselves in order to wake up Sikhs. You should see how many are going against the SGPC, Badal, Jathedars etc.. Guru Sahib wants the Khalsa to wake up and take control once again. I find it crazy that most gurdwarey still do not have pehredaars! Installing cameras in the darbar hall does not fix anything. The camera won't stop an attacker. It just shows us his face after he already did the act. When the first case of the beadbi happened, I thought maybe this kinda stuff just happens we should keep an eye on our gurdwaras. But then the next day I turn on the news, more beadbi .Day after that, even more beadbi happening in Panjab. Then I realized that there is a real problem in our gurdwarey. We don't seem to care that much about Guru Maharaj anymore. A king always has guards. The biggest beadbi itself is that we aren't even guarding our own king! And the police are really useless fat slobs who do nothing but attack us instead. I don't think we can rely on them to catch anyone They will protest during the day, but then they forget and go to sleep? I don't see the logic in that. Its not that hard to just get 2-3 people to stay at a gurdwara for each night. Even if they fall asleep there, It will still help. We shouldn't be asking for foreign intervention from the US, Canada, and UK. First of all - they don't give a crap. Secondly, they are also working with the Indian Government. And third - the last thing we need is CIA , airstrikes, and everything that comes in the package of the US interventionist foreign policy. We need to stop saying "Murke Aaja Bhinderanwaleya" , because we have Guru Sahib and we don't need anyone else. All of us have the capability to be like Sant Jarnail Singh, so why don't we all become true gursikhs! Oh, and don't forget about Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa Jee I admit I almost did

  33. hi guys i just released my kickstarter campaign for a Garja Singh Sikh statue would love to hear what you guys think as i think its a great way to bring our old stories back to life. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/610818206/statue-of-18th-century-sikh-warrior-garja-singh <iframe width="480" height="360" src="https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/610818206/statue-of-18th-century-sikh-warrior-garja-singh/widget/video.html" frameborder="0" scrolling="no"> </iframe> affordable high quality 12 inch statue, of the famous 18th century Sikh warrior Garja Singh. The sculpture will be 12 inches tall and will be cold cast in resin bronze. There will also be a real bronze version which will be limited to 10 casts only. I have researched and carefully crafted each and every component in 3D. The images below show my reference source material used to recreate Garja Singh. Sikh history and art are my passion and I have always been inspired by stories about the brave Sikh warriors who who rose to forge their own Sikh empire in Punjab during the 1700’s. I wanted to create something that would remind people of their bravery and celebrate their inspiration sacrifice. This is my way of sharing their story with the next generation. The three quotes below are written by Qazi Nur Mohammed, a persian war chronicler who accompanied Ahmed Shah Durrani during his invasion of India in 1764. During the invasion he wrote about their encounters with the Sikhs. INSPIRATION This character takes inspiration from the story of the martyrs Bota Singh & Garja Singh who were legends who awoke the punjab with their audacious acts of defiance. In 1739, Zaikriya Khan, the Mughal governor of Lahore launched an all out campaign of persecution of the Sikhs. Rewards were offered for the capture and extermination of Sikhs. It was declared lawful to plunder Sikh houses and to seize their property. Thousands of Sikh families were murdered. Cartloads of their heads were taken to Lahore for obtaining rewards from Zakariya. When Bota and Garja Singh were passing a mughal checkpoint they heard mughal soldiers mocking the Sikhs saying that the government had wiped them out and they now hide in the jungles like dogs. Bhai Bota Singh and Garja Singh were deeply offended and decided to teach them a lesson. One of the only depictions of Bota & Garja Singh They took over the checkpoint and sent a letter to Zakiriya Khan that they would now be charging a Khalsa tax from anyone who wants to cross as they, the Khalsa army of two, are the true sovereign kings of Punjab. News of the letter passed far and wide and the people were amazed by the brave act of defiance they had displayed. This embarrassed the Mughal Governer and he immediately dispatched a battalion of Mughal guards to deal with them. The battalion sent forward 10 guards who were dispatched swiftly by the two Singhs. Fearing death the battalion charged forward and the brave Singhs died fighting in battle. The whole of Punjab heard of their sheer grit and determination and they knew that the Sardar Khalsa were still alive and would rule this land one day. Within 60 years the Sikhs forged the first secular Sikh Kingdom where people of all backgrounds and religions could prosper in peace. I hope you like the sculpt and support this project. the statue is only £120 and available on kickstarter Taran Singh
