  1. How do Punjabis manage to make themselves the victims of a situation while simultaneously kicking the actual victim to the curb? Absolute scum. Put the karmic implications of the situation on the back burner. Not important or relevant. Firstly, you shouldn't have got married. I'm assuming your parents forced you into that situation in the hope it would snap you out of whatever mental malaise they assumed was weighing on you. You should've put your foot down and disagreed. Your wife may have been a typical unfeeling, low-iq savage, but there was no need to drag someone like that into your situation. While that typically pendu "cheating" accusation is bukwaas designed to dredge up feelings of guilt on your part, it was wrong to marry someone under those circumstances. Secondly, sort yourself out but don't expect your parents to provide you with any practical assistance on the road to recovery. You don't want to hear this, but their priority is their image and reputation, NOT you. Truly understand this fact. It hurts but it's reality. Get off the meds and get to the root cause of your mental issues, then start fixing them through counseling or other means. Those meds will mess you up long term. Jap as much naam that makes you comfortable considering your mindset without feeling it's a burden, and start getting PRACTICAL and PROACTIVE. It'll take time and effort, but you'll be fine.

  7. Guru Nanak Dev ji explained the birth of our universe stepwise (Arbad Narbad dhundukara ) , that there are countless planets and stars (Patala Patal lakh agasa agas), there is repeated cycles of of big bang and crunch(keh baar pasario pasar) , all well before the first telescope was developed during the period where the prevailing thoughts on Earth was that it was the centrepoint of the universe and the sun and moon turned orbit around it in the western canon and middle eastern canon. Of course , Guru ji also talked of fish that lived in trees (which detractors thought impossible but is a reality in South American jungle only discovered during eighties ; that there are lifeforms living inside stones and many other natural phenomena which have since been confirmed . I wouldn't worry about the veracity of Guru ji , just be grateful that you have been born in a time where you can listen to his guidance and follow it . Abrahamics had exposure to the truth but they chose to obscure it to hold onto worldly power under the influence of maya , I wouldn't worry about their confirmation or rubberstamping our Guru ji's truth , But pray that Waheguru ji opens their eyes and minds again.

The photograph of this simrana can be seen at:- whenever anyone counts the beads of this simrana once and then again the next day, the counting is different. To know more about this simrana, one can call baba baljeet Singh ji who is the main sevadaar at this historical place at 9463513563

  11. It started in the 90’s when there was a surge in first generation Punjabi kids coming of age from the post-84 immigration wave. The previous generation was vastly fewer in numbers and subconsciously accepted WASP lifestyle as the default. You will encounter that generation today as having a much more “Canadian” accent with “ya know eh” usage (now mind you they are in their 40s and 50s and plus now). The newer generation was less willing to put up with the blunt racism and honed in on an identity they felt was the best counter to the dominant culture. This gave rise to the gansta, Punjabi mafia, all that bull crap. It just continued down generationally to today. This had devastating impact on the level of higher studies Punjabi kids pursued and also lead to a large gang problem in Lower Mainland BC and to a lesser extant Toronto/Brampton side. . These kids emulated the black hood culture American media portrayed. They got what they wanted with gang related deaths a common feature in Surrey, Vancouver, Abbotsford. Too bad nobody thought of showing them what the real hood is like US cities. Would have scared them straight.

He will become Sant Baba Nand Singh Ji. He gave us the old Marayda of simrin and path which was Complete recitation of the whole of Sri Guru Granth Sahib in a month. Complete 50 paths of Sri Sukhmani Sahib in a month; recite 2 paths of Sri Sukhmani Sahib daily. Complete 250 paths of Jap Ji Sahib in a month; recite 10 paths of JapJi Sahib daily. Complete 180 Malas (Rosary Mala of 108 beads) of Mool Mantra (from Ekonkar to Nanak Hosi Bhi Such) in a month; do six malas daily. Complete 80 Malas daily of Gur Mantar 'Waheguru'; 20 Malas of Waheguru if the Nam is recited four times on each bead. Complete 160 Malas daily of Ram (Nam); 40 Malas if Ram is recited four times on each bead A Mohammedan was advised to practice and recite the name of Allah on each bead as above. We should try our best to follow this.

  17. I won't speak for the guy, but from my perspective we only have to look at the example of marriages between royal houses throughout history. Did they get married solely for love? Of course not. Those unions were designed to forge and strengthen alliances for material purposes. There was hardly any consideration of physical appeal ASIDE from a breeding perspective where an attractive bride for a plain groom was considered to be essential in order to at lease increase the chance of an aesthetically pleasing heir, i.e. Diana and Charles. The key issue was producing heirs and ensuring the wealth remained (and increased) within that relatively small clique of families. This cultural obsession with "love" really only became culturally fashionable arguably in the Edwardian and Victorian era, and even then it was "pushed" as an ideal on the lowly masses. The elites were certainly never expected to follow suit, and, by and large, they haven't with a few obvious exceptions. Even their so-called love unions are far from the lucky meetings of fate they like to promote to the people. Diana was distant relation to the Windsors. I even remember reading that Kate Middleton and even Markle are somehow related to the Royal Family through their respective ancestries.

  18. This case seems not to be going anywhere positive for the Dunn family, fast if she were to ‘face justice’ then it would set precedent for opening up many other past dubious cases, most of which have little publicity I don’t think that the boy being working class has helped the family’s case; if he were a wealthy middle class man it might have been a little different

  20. by welleducated you mean 'loosey goosey' with maryada and rehit , we are talking faith not physics/chemistry etc and for faith to be there you have to believe in the institution of Anand Karaj, in Guru ji , in sikhi as is . It is not condescending to point this out as that is the basic minimum requirement for a sikh wanting to partake of the blessing of Anand Karaj . The OP' s own parents did not marry by the frankly ridiculous manner they are suggesting , it is trying to say that western mores of 3rd wave feminism have more weight than Guru given maryada which is insulting in the highest manner . Yes if they do not want to do the right thing by sikhi maybe they would be better off having a registry marriage and knees up just like their folks want , sure it doesn't make for the best photo album , but you cannot have everything .

  21. I'd suggest: you own your own mistake - which you seem to be doing. Start fixing yourself up and slowly getting off the 'Jack and Jills' (medication pills) if possible. If you didn't have kids, be thankful. Once you're in a better place, you can maybe look for someone new - don't make the same mistake again, and be honest (gradually - don't start talking about your mental health issues on the first few meetings!)

  22. That's a big assumption to make? That night I wasn't particularly interested in chatting up some random bird. 23. And hordes of our people (Panjabis) were complicit as hell in the past - how many turned into sullay! How many jumped on the Christian protestant bangwagon after being colonised, and actually militarily helped the global anglo-supremacist system - to the extent that they let these outsiders define some made up version of the dharam called Sikhism. How many apnay to this day would sell their own Sikh brothers and sisters out for a small pay packet! What did the 'Sikh' dominated Punjab Police get up to in the 80s and early 90s against their own brothers and sisters? If we don't shake off this victim mentality and start holding our own community accountable to our own - then we have no future, and are basically petty, backstabbing mental slaves.

  28. OFF TOPIC - Apologies in advance. From my opinions solely, Indians move to Canada for one purpose... MONEY. End of the day we all revolve around cash. Not sure what one dollar equals in rupees, maybe 50 or 55 rupees? But one pound is worth 100 rs. Nobody believes me?? Ok, let's just say that one a dollar is worth 2 or 3 rupees. No Indian will go Canada! "Why would I wanna be a truck driver there when I can be a factory worker in UK?" This whole "Better life, better living" BS is an excuse. Ok! STILL NO ONE BELIEVES ME!?? Okay... Let's come to born n bred citizens in UK. Let's just say the Government one day decided "All primary school teachers will be paid 18,000 P.A. from tomorrow." Now imagine a UK Punjabi family, sat around a round table, laughing, joking, when the uncle asks "So beta, what u wanna be when you're older?" Answer: Primary school Maths teacher... LOL that kid is going to get the frowns! He/ she mite as well say factory worker! BACK TO TOPIC!!! A uniform for Sikhs will be cool ?

  29. You say the average mona does not want "reform" in Sikhi. That is true only because monay have effectively already "reformed" Sikhi. They already basically get to do whatever they want. To illustrate what I mean, the average "interfaith couple" didn't care about reforming Sikhi either until gurdware started banning interfaith anand karajs. Now such people are crying and are trying to reform Sikhi (or, from their point of view, restore Sikhi to what they perceive it to be --- an "anything goes" because "we accept everyone" faith). If monay were restricted from doing certain things (like dressing up as singhs during anand karajs only to toss their paghs off the second they finish, or prohibited from throwing parties after anand karajs, or banned from anand karajs all together), they would start crying and go into the "reform Sikhi" camp.

  30. We're drawn to honest physical labour despite being devious and calculating in our own social groups, yet if we were truly intelligent we would bypass the blue collar grafting, and want to head the various trucking unions and dependent organisations in white collar environments. In our case, every successive generation of immigrants start at the bottom instead of building on the efforts and sacrifices of the previous generations. There's a mentality of, "I suffered when I first came here, so why shouldn't they?" This creates a culture and ethic that remains firmly rooted in the same social dynamic with every generation. An intelligent community uplifts its own by creating opportunities for advancement. We seem to relish seeing our own facing adversity and having to struggle. Fundamentally, that's why we'll never achieve anything of note.

  32. Your aren't a woman though, and if women don't like it then its their problem. Like I said, in bani Guru ji describes himself as a Sodhi, his fathers clan. He then describes the genealogy of the Sodhi clan. He doesn't mention his mothers family or genealogy. Bani mentions Guru Nanak Dev ji as a member of the Bedi clan, his mothers lineage or clan is not mentioned. Same with Guru Amar Das ji and its the same with Guru Ramdas Ji. We as Sikhs then should follow suit and use the same family structure and order. I don't understand what is so difficult about that? That is why its the bride that gets married into the grooms family. That is why Guru Gobind Singh ji said that marry your daughter into a family where Sikhi is practiced. You can't make it any clearer than that. If women have a problem with that then it is their problem. The doors are flung open, no one is telling them to have Anand Karaj or be Sikhs.

  34. It's either true and the mainstream narrative is a carefully crafted vanilla projection of what "they'd" like things to be so that humanity doesn't realise the truth about its subjugation. OR these conspiracy theories are carefully crafted half-truths that are released into the ether as a form of misdirection to mask the drab realities of economic and political scheming by powerful corporations and individuals. I'm erring towards the latter. The former is fun to think about, but it's pie in the sky stuff.

  35. Waheguru ji ka Khalsa , Waheguru ji ki Fateh , firstly what you are doing is throwing out sikh culture and gurmat for some supposed 'modern' and WISER ???? way , in some mistaken impression you know what Guru ji meant better than he did. If you are happy and grateful for being a sikh on the long line of sacrificing sikhs upon whose bodies you stand then it should not be US the descendents, telling the GURU that 'we know better than you' and altering his given ways to bless you both as a Couple. If you look at the history of the Lavaan it has ZERO to do with Vedic resams as we are dedicating ourselves to Guru ji and making Guru ji our support and centre of our lives (that is why we travel around giving respect, equidistant to the Guru , neither partner becoming a blockage to personal relationship to Guru ji) . If your guy is walking ahead of you it is showing that he will protect and shield you from the unknown harms that could come your way in life as Guru ji has told him to do, so actually it is giving him space to show how much he cares and honours you in sharing your life with him . It is not saying you are lesser in any way so please stop listening to frankly uneducated 'modern' sikhs , as Kaurs are supposed to be supportive and ready step into the breach if life takes out the Singh and protect the future of the panth. The First Anand Karaj was when Guru Amar Das ji Married his own Daughter Bibi Bhani ji to Guru Ram Das ji , did he insist that his daughter walk in front or side by side to Guru Ram Das Ji ? No , he could have done knowing just how blessed and holy she was , daughter to a Guru, Wife of a Guru, Mother of a Guru and GRandmother of the Next Guru also . Was she treated as lesser by anyone ? No , so please leave western ideas of 'equality' and understand Sikh ideas of equality they are much deeper and more expressive then simple minded kneejerk swaps as in western thinking. Yes you are right societal thinking has got you in a tizz but it is not Sikhi but your interpretations of it via the messed up western model which fails to see beauty in the chivalry of promising to protect but sees it as a belittling of the female (how messed up is that? so daughters shouldn't look up to their dads and brothers if they look after them but should be angry) . Guru ji commanded that his sikhs should never ask for daaj or harass the girl's family with demands if they did they are not his sikhs. The bharat was only supposed to be as big as the female's family could host without stressing them . A Sikh was never allowed to cuss out or strike women did this mean Guru ji thought of women as weak flower or was it he wanted society to change their attitude and show just as much love and respect to the girl's family as the boy's family got ? This is the equality he wanted that daughters were married into homes with these attitudes intact not the transactional attitudes that existed in societies dominated by the other faiths. Unfortunately, in your speech I have seen that crass transactional attitude with regards to the raagis , if you are serious about sikhi and doing your life the sikh way , cultivate humbleness because you are begging Guru ji to bless your future together and his Granthi and sewaks will follow Him not you . If you don't want to pay for a particular jathebandi then just get the gurdwara sewak team to do it and donate the difference to the homeless or poor. Raagi jathe following Akal Takht maryada and Guru ji's hukham so do not expect them to answer yes to your folks strange ideas because those ideas are insulting the maryada of Anand Karaj and Guru ji Themself. They know the sikh follows the Guru not the other way around .

I really am making a conscious effort to adjust my frame of mind so that I'm not viewing reality from a purely masculine and patriarchal perspective, but reading 5hit like this hammers home the absolute futility of it all. We know what she's going to come back with: "Sikhi is outdated / sexist / patriarchal / anti-female" and we're all pendu b**tards who wants to ruin her special day.

  38. You're marrying the love of your life (supposedly), and you're more worried about whether if you're walking behind, beside or in front of him. Rather than booking the nearest wedding date available in great anticipation, to get married to person you love, you're delaying the process because of your insecurities. I suggest you go back to basics and ask yourself, what does this person mean to you? why are you marrying him? and why Anand Karaj? and what is your priority in this relationship? Its not too late to reconsider, modern Sikh marriages suggest that marriage isn't for everyone. As for why the bride walks behind the groom, then that is because your father will pass your husbands pala into your hands. This symbolises that your father is now passing you onto your husband and that you are now a part of your husbands family. The grooms father does not pass the brides chunni into the grooms hand, it is the brides father that passes the grooms pala into his daughters hand. Your sons will also be a part of your husbands family and take their fathers name. Just how Guru Gobind Singh ji narrates the history of his family, the Sodhi clan, the clan of his father Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. Just how Guru Nanak Dev ji is described as being born into the Bedi clan, the clan of his father Mehta Kalu. Just how Bhai Santokh Singh ji describes that when Guru Nanak Dev ji is born the BEDI ladies(aunts) come around to see Baby Guru Nanak. Guru Gobind Singh ji's hukkam is that a Sikh man should get his daughter married into a house where Sikhi is practiced, why ? because its the bride that is marrying into the grooms family, hence a father should choose a home for his daughter where Sikhi is practiced. Just like that the father of the bride passes the grooms pala into the brides hand, symbolising that she is now a part of the grooms family and their kids will also be part of the grooms family. We have been getting married like that for centuries, its our tradition. If you don't like it, then like others have suggested you can have a registry marriage. @jkvlondon would you like to give this bibi some advise?

  40. There is no discriminatory practice here, as in Gurbani we as an individual are represented as a bride. A lot of today's society is seeing discrimination in places where there isn't. Please try and adhere to the traditional way of Anand Karaj. No one calls discrimination when the bride comes after the groom in christian marriages - it is a metaphor as well In the past, one had to take Amrit to even have an Anand Karaj - http://dailysikhupdates.com/gursikhs-anand-karaj-1900-says-elderly-grandmother/

  41. So there are individuals willing to conduct such a ceremony, but you don't want to pay their rates? Do you not feel the actual religious or spiritual method by which you are enjoined to your partner is worth the financial outlay? So, the problem isn't "Sikh society" but your frugality, because if the issue truly lay with these backwards Sikhs, you'd be unable to find even one individual willing to conduct whatever abominable concoction of religiosity you deem to be en vogue in the current year. As for the rights and wrongs of the ceremony itself I guess it's a matter of tradition. If the ceremony itself is deemed to be so objectionable, I'd find another spiritual framework to latch onto for your wedding aesthetic. If I was in your position and so certain of my convictions, I would reject the Anand Karaj on principle, and instead conduct a secular ceremony more suited to my beliefs and tastes. That's what someone of principle would do.

  43. Part 4 51. Just as nothing clings to space, so to the sage, who knows the Self to be unattached and indifferent, future actions cling not in the least degree. 52. Just as space is unaffected by the smell of liquor though it touches the pot (containing the liquor), so is Self unaffected by the attributes of Its adjuncts. 53. Karmans done before the dawn of knowledge perish not as a result of that knowledge; they must produce their proper effect even as an arrow shot to hit a target (stops not before hitting it). 54. The arrow discharged (to hit) what was taken for a tiger stops not, though, alter, (the target) is known to be a cow; the target is hit with full force. 55. ‘I am un-ageing’; ‘I am immortal’ – how can one who knows his Self to be such and lives that knowledge fabricate operative past actions ? 56. Then only is operative past action real when one mistakes one’s Self to be the body. The treatment of the body as Self is improper; therefore reject (the notion) of operative past action. 57. The fabrication of operative past actions is also, indeed, a delusion due to this body. 58. How can the superimposed be real ? How can the unreal be born ? How can the unborn perish ? How can the unreal own operative past actions ? 59-60. To answer the dull-witted (who) doubtfully ask how this body persists if the entire effects of nescience with their cause are destroyed by knowledge, Shruti, with an outward eye, propounds the theory of operative past actions; not to suggest to the wise that the body, etc., are real. 61. A total plenum, without beginning and end, measure and change. Massed being and intelligence, massed eternal bliss, undiminishing, 62. With the sole savour of the subject, full, endless, behold all, Neither to be shunned nor seized, neither to be held nor propped; 63. Beyond inert forces and actions, subtle, certain, unblemished; Whose essence is beyond thought, beyond mid and words; 64. Existent, a plenitude, self-proven, pure, awake and matchless. One only is non-dual Brahman; here is no plurality at all. To Apantaratamas was this science imparted. He imparted it to Brahma, who passed it on to Ghorangiras. The latter gave it to Raikva and Raikva to Rama. Rama imparted it to all beings. This is the injunction in regard to Nirvana; this is the injunction of the Vedas, of the Vedas. This is the secret teaching. Aum ! That (Brahman) is infinite, and this (universe) is infinite. The infinite proceeds from the infinite. (Then) taking the infinitude of the infinite (universe), It remains as the infinite (Brahman) alone. Aum ! Let there be Peace in me ! Let there be Peace in my environment ! Let there be Peace in the forces that act on me !

Anyway, the point i was making to those who are willing make such a big decision in their life to question gurbani based on some group believe or person belief needs to may be take a step back and may be open and receptive towards infinite Guru's wisdom and be in direct experience on what they are questioning rather than wrapping their head around 2nd hand info- belief/concept/ideology passed on to them. Being open and receptive to Guru's wisdom does not meant blind faith either, it just means you sit innocently in naam simran beyond mind closed conditioning (full of 2nd hand beleif, concept and ideology) and let the answer of what you questioning or doubts come to you DIRECTLY via anubhav Prakash/ deb dristhi-parchard gyan- epiphany or direct insight right from ocean of Guru's wisdom.
