  1. A middle aged sikh man was a nanaksar follower. He found getting up at amritvela very tough. Whenever he did paath, he used to feel lazy and sleepy. Sometime back, he got in touch with Budha dal and started wearing blue banaa and dumalla and suddenly all his laziness has gone away and he now easily gets up at amritvela. He says that wearing the Baana, he feels that he is protected by Satguru all the time. Dhan Satguru! Dhan Satguru da Baanaa!

  2. I am not talking about the Buddha himself. Though Hindu Brahmin Hierarchy would have an issue with Buddha at the time. I am talking about Buddhists. Bodhidarma was hardly a pacifist when he taught the Shaolin back in 526AD. Nor were the Japanese. Nor were the Thais. The Mongols had a Buddhist element to them as well. I think Ahimsa is a term that seems to be attributed to Buddhists. What it actually means is "Do no harm". This does not necessarily mean that they won't do harm if they are threatened.

  3. If Buddha neglected to impart the need for his people to defend themselves physically (which includes pre-emptive action) from external threats that will one day prove to be an existential threat, should they lay down and be destroyed in order to stay in the good graces of Buddha? If Sikhi started with Guru Nanak Dev Ji and concluded with Guru Arjan Dev Ji, you'd be happy to have reverted to Hinduism, convert to Islam, or exist under a Jain-esque pacifist brand of Sikhi?

  4. talk about being assuming and a bit condescending, there are many sikh grandfathers and fathers who wore their dastars despite prejudices against them during the early days here , in fact, that is the reason my Nana ji said Yes to my Dad because he had lived in UK and returned sabat soorat . I learnt from the AKJ Jathey's bibian , my mum, my dad , friends and ultimately keep practising like everyone else . Now I teach my kids and husband. I also track down video channels for the kids and my nephews and nieces to learn for themselves .

  6. This is pure lies. Juts struggle with with accepting nonjuts as equals. Some twisted notion of supremacism is a norm, even if a handful of western educated juts claim to not believe in it (and make no difference to the situation anyway). There is systemic abuse and oppression of Mazhbhis by juts. Girls are abused too. They love alcohol and have deeply embedded caste based politics in even premier Sikh institutions, where they buy people's votes off with alcohol no less. Self-aggrandising to delusional levels seem to be a norm amongst them (look at all the videos and songs......), and they consistently fail to face up to the negative effects they have on the panth - to the point where they've actually decreased numbers by treating others so bad that they have left the panth. To top that all off, from what I'm hearing from relatives back home - hordes of juts themselves are converting to christianity now - for some perceived benefits. Juts dominate Panjabi politics, it only stands to reason that the current state of affairs on the ground there is the fruits of their own endeavors. And I've worked with Panjabi juts in construction quite a bit - so you can't tell me that I don't know their habits. They routinely rip each other off (not paying wages after getting work done). Before attempting a 'progressive approach' at least have a solid understanding of the problem - which is rooted in the cultural norms being practiced. It's ridiculous to constantly try and highlight the jut contribution to the Khalistani lehar, whilst failing to acknowledge that those at the forefront of brutally suppressing it, were mainly juts themselves, who outnumbered the kharkus. That's what's worrying now. If it kicks off, how many sociopathic juts will join ranks with the gorment and do what they did during the 80s/90s?

  7. It's not like women aren't justified with their concerns here. Look at how long and rampant grooming's been going on!

  8. Dude, you know if this was a brown man flashing himself in a restaurant, he'd have been sitting at home, with his badge and gun taken off him whilst an investigation was going on. And there would have been no way that he wouldn't have been reprimanded in some way, if not sacked. There is something strange going on with the filth right now. They've been pulling up females from various protest groups like BLM and low key harassing them. I just heard they did it to a young bibi whose been at the Farmer protest things over here, and has posted on Facebook about it - she was on her own in her car. They pulled her up and started asking all sorts of weird questions. Advice to bibis (and brothers) who get pulled up by the police (this is where streetwiseness helps!): Get your phones out and record the exchange. Don't talk too much and get embroiled in their 'debates'. Take pictures of their badge numbers and faces and straight away text/whatsapp it to a trusted friend.

  9. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9352321/Indecent-exposure-allegation-reported-police-four-days-Sarah-Everard-vanished.html Riddle over 'flashing' incident: Watchdog probes Met as it emerges Sarah Everard suspect kept working as gun cop for days after report of 'indecent exposure' Wayne Couzens, 48, remains in police custody after arrest in Sarah Everard case Met Police received report of indecent exposure in London on February 28 Force made referral to IOPC over whether officers responded 'appropriately' The police watchdog is investigating the Met after it emerged murder suspect Wayne Couzens continued to work as an armed officer for three days after an allegation of indecent exposure was made. Couzens, 48, was arrested late on Tuesday on suspicion of the kidnap and murder of marketing executive Sarah Everard, 33, and indecent exposure to a second unnamed victim. The Metropolitan Police tonight confirmed an investigation has been launched into whether two officers responded 'appropriately' to the report of indecent exposure, which was received by Scotland Yard days before Sarah vanished. Couzens - an armed Metropolitan Police officer based in Westminster - is alleged to have exposed himself at a fast food restaurant in south London on February 28. It is understood he continued working following the incident and had been on shift at the US Embassy in Battersea shortly before Miss Everard's disappearance on March 3. The US Embassy last night refused to comment on the claim, telling MailOnline: 'We were shocked and saddened to hear the news of Sarah Everard's disappearance. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends during this difficult time.' Sources told The Daily Mail the allegation may not have reached 'command level' so colleagues were unlikely to be aware of it, meaning he was able to continue working as an armed officer right up until his arrest.

  11. By his alleged actions he actually seems like a real life, dyed in the wool serial killer. I think they are looking at other places because they suspect this. This is unlikely to be his first victim. Also, we have to ask, what sort of cover up took place when this guy was apparently arrested/questioned[???] for exposing himself a few days prior to the alleged kidnap and murder. Most guys would have been put on a sex-offenders list for this, but here they seem to have let him go. You'd expect them to at least suspend him from employment whilst they looked into the indecent exposure thing. But no, they let him carry on, not even taking his gun from him. If so, it isn't much of a stretch to think that emboldened by his colleagues inactions - the nutjob took it even further. They said they had to identify the victim through dental records..............

  13. It really is best if the whole family can be in the same boat, but each case is unique. Some non-amrithdari women can be for all intents and purposes be leading a very pious lifestyle on par with amritdahris but just have a lack of self confidence in keeping the amrit vows. Others can be hell bent on never going near religion. With the former, you will have smooth sailing even if she doesn't accompany you. For Nitnem, it's admirable the more time and focus you can give it. But don't fall into the mindset that it'd either 2am or not worth it. Life has it's challenges, especially with children, just find your balance. For me, it's half at home, and half in commute. I love it.

  14. Maybe because Jats are the only remaining group who are still actively alpha amongst the Sikh community. We could also ask why are Jats the only group to aggressively take on Delhi in the protests. You can’t knock a group of people who still possess the hot blood needed to take risks.

  15. Imagine having such a weak sense of your own identity as an immigrant group that you appropriate the norms, vernacular, and manner of being of another immigrant sub-culture. Besti.

  16. Not always just briefly every now and then sometimes by their western and central Asian neighbors while sometimes being conquered by their Eastern neighbors. It is only the Sikhs who gave dignity and respect to Punjab by unifying it and putting it on the world map during the 1700s and 1800s. We should not be too proud of being slaves of the Persians. Ghulami is Ghulami whether it was under the Persians, Maurians, Guptas, Turks, Mughals, Afghans or the British and now under Delhi Hakoomat. Punjab's self respect is only under Khalsa Raj.
