In the history of India, no Indian king has attacked another country. Maharaja Ranjit Singh kicked out Afghanis and Pathaans all the way to their hoods in Kabul and dropped those dudes home for good, never to set foot in Punjab (and therefore enter India) ever again.

Shivaji (all respect to the brave man) didn't launch any invasion on any foreign lands ruled by non-Indians outside India in order to safeguard his homeland.

Sat Sri Akal:

The British were very scared of Ranjit Singh. They knew that they would suffer the biggest defeat if they even dared to look at Punjab wrong while his reign was intact. So they waited until he died to invade. Thus, the British were only invading India after the death of Ranjit Singh.

Might be wrong here, but this is my view:

The British were of no large concern to him or his kingdom, in fact if there was any fear, it was on the part of the British that Maharaja Ranjeet Singh would want to expand his kingdom into their territory.

The Afghans entered India through the Khyber Pass, and into Punjab, which is why they were sent back to the lands from which they came (I beliieve the duty was given to Hari Singh Nalwa to take this land and thus prevent invasion in this manner)- this was not the route the British took into India, and thus they were not interfering with any territory inder Maharaja Ranjit Singh.

Hari Singh Nalwa sent three letters to Ranjit Singh to take care of dogras and british. Akali Foola Singh also warned Ranjit Singh. He was too obsessed with dogras and british. He listened to dogras. Ranjit Singh was told by Hari Singh Nalwa that we should fght the british send them packing. Hari Singh Nalwa told Ranjit Singh that british are waiting for his and Ranjit Singh's death. Ranjit didn't listen. He listened to what dogras said. Dogras were agents of british. Hari Singh also told Ranjit Singh that it is the Khalsa rule amd should be ruled by 5 pyaras after Ranjit Singh and not by one of his sons. Some historians say Ranjit Singh played a part indeath of Hari Nalwa. The question is what was the military doing at Naunihal Singh's birthday when they should have been defending the border against Pathans. Hari Singh sent a letter to Ranjit Singh to send the army back but he didn't.

Even shiva ji's guru swami ramdass learned from shri guru hargobind sahib,

"Guru Hargobind now undertook extensive travels. The Guru founded the town of Kiratpur in 1626 where the land had been gifted to the Guru by one of the princes who had been freed from Gwalior by the Guru. While visiting Srinagar the Guru had a discourse with Swami Ramdas Samrath a great spiritual teacher who would later go on to instruct Shivaji, the founder of the Maratha empire. Swami Ramdas asked the Guru "You are on the spiritual throne of Guru Nanak, a great Saint. You are wearing arms and maintain troops and horses. You allow yourself to be addressed as Sachcha Padsah, the True King. What sort of saint are you?" Guru Hargobind replied, "I display royalty only from the outside; inwardly, I'm detached like a hermit. Guru Nanak had not renounced the world. He had only renounced maya (illusion and ego)." The Swami answered that this idea appealed to him and thus he thereafter changed his teachings of hindu renunciation."

At Sri Nagar (Garhwal) Sant Ramdas Samrath, the spiritual guide to Shivaji Marhatta met Guru Hargobind. The Sant seeing the Guru's regal splendour and ornaments, expressed doubts that 'an heir to the throne of Guru Nanak, the ascetic - and in this attire?'. The Guru convinced him by saying that words do not make an ascetic or disguise can make one rich. Weapons are for the protection of the poor and a mark of the valiant

now you know where it started for shivaji

but he stodd for stuff

Guru Ji never occupied any land or anything in all the battles he won

Yes thats right british got ahold of Punjab after ranjit singh passed away by natural death. The reason mahraja didn't kicked british out of India (that time Punjab was not part of india) because ranjit singh kingdom/army was HUGE and Brave because of his leadership even though dogray brothers couldn't do much harm as long as ranjit singh was alive. After he passed away, everything fall apart and Rani Jindan kaur's family was butchered in front of everyone and thus the "thirst to have seat" got killed the Sikh raj and made the way for British to enter Punjab.

Another reason i can see was that Raja Ranjit Singh was huge fan of Westernized ppls, i read from some book that he used to adore and get all goody up by hearing stuff outside of India world, like their languages, customs/cultures and inventions etc.. This was also the reason Raja Ranjit singh was in good terms with british but british kept ranjit Singh and his kingdom in dark by giving bribes and corrupting some of ranjit singh's office ppls (dogra was on their payrol).

Shivaji might be the great warrior but not as great as countless of warriors in Sikh History. Shivaji being hindu is famous in history books of India but Sikh warriors such Hari Singh Nalwa couldn't even find a one paragraph bio in any indian school history books. So that makes sense.. Getting popular by the religion plays important role in saying that "If he is famous then he must be MUCH higher than all of others"

I would encourage you to go for the Naam_Jap advice :)

    • The Mind is Jyot Saroop (Waheguru), but the mind is under the influence of five evils… Through Naam Simran( Rememberance), the mind will begin to detach from evil, and get back to its original form ( MANN TU JYOT SAROOP HEH)… Until the mind breaks free from the five evils, one will go through the cycle of paap and punn….which leads to Karma… Naam Simran destroys past karma, and prevents new karma coming into fruition… I did this, I did that… This non realisation of the Jyot Saroop gives rise to paap and Punn, which in turn gives birth to suffering and misery…
    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
