i was informed by some gursikhs (ahem..jss included) as well as one of the singhs who ended up actually being one of my punj that i should avoid eating anything. It's not exactly a rule, but i was told to avoid it.....

the only thing i don't get is that they told this to me AFTER i had cookies and milk (cookies were good though...!!)

sorry bro..just checked the maryada on the sgpc website...no mention of NOT eating before going in...what maryada are you referring to...thanks...

oh also..if it's part of any other maryada..other than sgpc...the it can't be considre a rule for the panth..only thos who choose to follow it..thus it is not a rule....

just to clarify,

the sgpc maryada is also not binding on the khalsa panth and it is not a final rule for the khalsa panth.

akhand kirtani jatha has some recommendations for the maryada,

and damdami taksal has their own gurmat maryada.

nanaksar has their own maryada and nihang dals have their own.

the panth is the guru, not the sgpc.

panth must decide on a maryada in unity.

sgpc maryada was not decided by entire *guru* panth
