i have yet to hear about a amritdhari sikh girl who reads gurbaani and keeps rehit, go out with a muslim guy, and convert. it's almost 99.9% of the time some punjaban who thinks we have ten gods and are a sect of hinuduism, basically the balle balle punjabi brruuuaaahhhh type who gets their sikhi lesson from a paragraph out of an encyclopedia.

the problem is not "sikh" girls but punjabi families who hang a picture of a sikh guru in their homes and are sikh because of this, and churn out a generation of confused kids with no knowledge of sikhi or the sikh identity. if a white guy/gal comes on this forum and says, yo how do i become sikh, we say, try to keep kesh, read gurbaani and when ready, take amrit from panj pyaare, how about telling punjabis this for once?

seriously, muslims can't convert sikhs, key word being sikhs, converting wild punjaban girls is not hard, any jo schmo can do it with a nice car, a hard body, and some cash in the wallet.

sorry to be blunt, it's a habit.

there was an article posted about some punjabi lady who married a muslim guy before partition and had to leave pakistan after partition and saw her two sons after 55 years or so...she was said to be a sikh woman who married a muslim guya nd converted to Islam...thsi isn't anything new. all the Cheemas, Bajwas, Bhullars, we see in Pakistan, many were "sikhs" who converted to Islam during partition.

people who have basic knowlede of sikh tenets won't fall into the islamo-fascist web...but the girls have to want to learn, can't force a gutka down their throats...if they wanna party hardy, let them...we aren't the taliban.

peace.

peace.

Seems to me that the answe to the problems you talk about is education, but you are right, we can't force anyone to learn, the only thing we can do is hope people will learn if we teach. In any case the answer is not, as the original poster thought, to start fights with these guys.

Don't stand up with a fist in one hand and a kirpan in the other. Stand up with with open arms and sweet speech.

While i respect your erm efforts, i would love to take you to various areas where the people/gangs like nothing better then kicking and spitting on sikhs and bullying them. i would love to see you with your open arms and sweet speech then ... !!!

fighting back is not always the answer, but as our history shows, sometimes you have no other alternative. there are times for peacefull protest, and there are times to knock the living daylights out of the papi.

The person who has posted perhaps isnt correct in everything he has said, but at least try and see the frustration in his posting. Whether we like it or not in certain areas where sikhs are heavily outnumbered, the sikhs are being bullied, and thier sisters are being treated like dirt. its a real life fact. another fact is that some people do try and help and do make a stand. this includes educating the masses like the Sikh Awareness Society are doing. they do fantastic work of making people aware of the current issues. but equally there are people who are banging heads together where they are needed. dont forget most people out there are not like sikhs, they do not try and use all other means first, they dont have compassion, they will not think twice before putting a petrol bomb through your living room window. so yeh some sikhs are standing upto people like this, it aint easy so lets not automatically knock them. if they do something wrong then fair enough, but to label them all is wrong also. to be honest most of us would not have the courage to face 20 guys armed with bottles, bats, knives and possibly guns. we can boost each other and ourselves as much as we like but its the truth (for most at least including me). but there are some sikhs who will stand, they will fight and they will sometimes get beaten into a pulp, but they will stil continue. whats dishearening for them is the talk that goes on about them being thugs and criminals.

when a muslim gang is making a singh touch thier feet at college, then sweet words will probably have no effect. this is one recent example.

so to first poster, read as much gurbani as you can, and keep your rehat, yes continue with your training, and if you need to fight then do so, but not out of ego or hatred, fight for only what is right.

for others, unless you have been there and faced these issues yourselves you have little room to comment. its like living in a ghetto, how can people with nice cushy lives, daddy's car to drive and uni fees paid for etc etc how can they understand how life in the gutter is like. its the typical upperclass white looking down with disgust at the ghetto black. try and have some understanding that life may be different for different people. its not as easy as applying the principles you live by on everybody else. different people, different situations, please try and understand this.

so if your going to give advise then cool, go ahead, but be careful as you may not know what these people have to deal with, and lets not be the ones who with our clever and snidy remarks enrage the person to go and commit further bad actions. sometimes people just want someone to listen to their outbursts and pain, as sikhs we should listen, not just tell them to get lost etc.

and ps, i have heard of 3 amritdhari girls who have converted. one wore a keski and did kirtan, one was from a very influential and respected amrithdhari sikh family, and the other was also a kirtani.

Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ke Fateh !

this is to all sikh sangat members, you guys who have no life, who dont comunicate with the outside world, who are blind to the incidents on the streets, you are the Anti Socail Jutha (UK)!

Singhs are being batterd on the street and we look the other way becuz we are to busy sitting on are computer desks on sikhsangat talking about the latest gossip "which kashara to wear today?" are sisters are being targeted ! what do we do ?

sort it out? NO

log onto sikhsangat and talk about it !

get off your computers ! start training ! wake up !

if i have offended anyone, GOOD !

I am sorry to come out with this and I am sure this is not what many people want to hear, but I really believe there is a degree of over sensationalisation going on regarding “issues” affecting UK Sikh youth.

All this anti Muslim Hindu propaganda, specific target blogs set up, special “awareness” societies being set up, all that has happened in the past year or so is that Sikh youth are distancing themselves off from each other. If you do not agree with specific opinions, it appears you risk being accused of being Anti Social Jatha (UK) or anti panthic or worse still a coward!

I think it should be called the 'social jatha uk' cos alot of the youth spend too much time socialising!! and not enough time shut off from the world in simran etc.

your right we need to wake up, but your advice should be more along the lines of lets follow rehit and spend more time doing seva, and listening and reading and singing gurbani, and do parchar to the youth, and teach them about sikhi so that with the GURUS KIRPA other youngsters will be inspired and also follow....... without his kirpa nothing will be achieved .............................................. and how do you get his kirpa? roaming the streets beating up suspecting muslims?

maybe im wrong ................... maybe people can correct me

paji, come on................. obviously you cant have open arms in situations you have discribed. your right that we hav to fight back.....i think we need to asses individually where to use open arms, i think the veer is refering to the general attitude of people who constantly want to fight, the Guru is not happy with those people. But where we stand up to ourselves and for the truth and fairness the guru is also happy. you need to understand your path in life, if your always looking for a fight then thats wat youl get

They don't know anything about Sikhi, yet they try to control the their children?! lol makes me laugh I tell them to their faces. Men sit in pubs women talking bollywood s*** what are the kids to do? they go fornicating drinking drugs and hwat not, by then the bandar parents are too late all they are left with is crying and sitting in Gurdwaras trying to regain control lol makes me laugh.

Let them take the bad apples from Sikhi I say...we don't need them

if a person converts you are not just losing a 'bad apple.'

think about the children of the bad apple, and their children, and their grandchildren etc

you will be losing an ENTIRE GENERATION!!!!

can we REALLY afford that?!?!?!

p.s Guru Sahib can rejuvinate the bad apples

As you rightly said Guru Sahib can rejuvinate the bad apples but we also need to remember that

karmee aapo aapnee kay nayrhai kay door.

According to their own actions, some are drawn closer, and some are driven farther away.

We are not born into Sikhi, we become Sikhs!

    • Umm, that's totally irrational, bro. There are plenty of prakash-dara Singhs in Punjab (less than we'd like, but still plenty). No one cares that you are sabat soorat. It isn't 1986. You can walk around in chola, kurta-pajama, or jeans. Whatever. If you want the look @dallysingh101 is referring to, just go into a cheap clothing shop (not a Western-style mall) and buy some shirts for 250 rupees or a track suit for 2000 rupees. You'll get the cheap stuff made in some sweatshop in Bombay.
    • The Mind is Jyot Saroop (Waheguru), but the mind is under the influence of five evils… Through Naam Simran( Rememberance), the mind will begin to detach from evil, and get back to its original form ( MANN TU JYOT SAROOP HEH)… Until the mind breaks free from the five evils, one will go through the cycle of paap and punn….which leads to Karma… Naam Simran destroys past karma, and prevents new karma coming into fruition… I did this, I did that… This non realisation of the Jyot Saroop gives rise to paap and Punn, which in turn gives birth to suffering and misery…
    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
