Akaash Bhatia in action on Friday

By Ziad Chaudry

WEMBLEY featherweight Akaash Bhatia recorded his eighth straight professional victory with a convincing six-round shut-out against Frenchman Frederic Gosset on Friday at York Hall.

As a 60-54 margin on the referee's scorecard would suggest, this was a comfortable workout for Britain's only Sikh professional boxer.

Meanwhile, Audley Harrison will not make his ring return this weekend after the former Olympic champion from Kingsbury injured his wrist in a car accident in Florida.

The 35-year-old had been due to appear on the undercard of Clinton Woods' IBF light-heavyweight defence against Julio Gonzalez in Sheffield.

He has not fought since losing to Michael Sprott at Wembley Arena in February.

I've always been surprised that there are not more Sikhs in boxing...especially since we put it about that we are a warrior race and all that...
