Hinduism Will Eventually Swallow Sikhism

In 1893, in his book The Sikh Religion, Max Arthur MacAuliffe made this observation:

"Hinduism... is like the boa constrictor of the Indian forests." .... "it winds itself around its opponent, crushes it in its folds, and finally causes it to disappear." ... "In this way, it disposed off Buddhism," ... "it absorbed the religion of the Scythian invaders off Northern India," ... "it has converted uneducated Islam in India into a semi-paganism; and in this way it is disposing off the once hopeful religion of Baba Nanak. Hinduism has embraced Sikhism in its folds," ... Its ultimate destruction is, it is apprehended, inevitable without state support .

Over 100 years later, MacAuliffe's prediction still rings with truth.

My observations sikh women do Varts (strictly against gurmat - chore ann kare pakhand na oh suhagan na oh rann ).

Sikhs bow to SGGS and ask for material favors much like Hindus bow before idols and seek 'padarths' . Gur Nanak says

Nanak manga jakhana dukh chad mangiye sukh , Dukh Sukh doi Kapre pahre jaye manukh . As Guruka Singh correctly observers our prayers these days resemble a shopping list.

Nobody in India seems bothered to understand/act upon gurmat teachings. We read hundreds of books / newspapers / magazines but cant be bothered to read guru maharaj( Sabse upar gur sabad beechar ).

Rampant castism and tribalism /groupism - a very Hindu practise - MacAuliffe observes that in the 19th century anyone who took amrit and joined khalsa army completely erased their past - whether they were brahmins , chamars, khatris - no one knew and no one cared.

Even on sikh sangat we have people who proudly use a castist last name.

Finally its a big myth that as sikhs we shold respect all religions - let me ask you Bhanariawala has started his own religion - he is the guy who burnt Sri Guru Granth Sahib and ashutosh and nirankaris openly mock sikh saroop , principles and gurus. People who think we should respect all religions - by this toke aren't these cults very respect worthy as well ? Or wait a minute its only the older religions such as hinduism and islam that deserves our respect.

In fact gurbani is not politically correct at all and I see to your face shabads - Guru nanak says "ravan mar kya vada bhaya - sab upma teri jagjeevna "

In fact there are a few good things about other religions which align with sikh philosophy and we have no problem respecting them but a wholesale respect for a wide variety of beilefs and sometimes at contradiction with themselves should not be expected of us.

I pity the campaigns to restore pride in turban and stopping youth from becoming apostate when we fail to educate our youth about even the very basics.

WAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA, WAHEGURU JI KI FATEH

Read the above...Khalsa belongs to the Almighty...

McAuliffe also said that the Guru Granth Sahib would not be readable by the Sikhs, who had abandoned it for Urdu and Braj Bhasha. And here we are still. McAuliffe's estimate was that Sikhism would not last the century...here we still are.

Sikhi is here to stay...sorry, ain't going to happen.

vaheguru ji ka khalsa vaheguru ji ki fateh

Many people who call themselves Sikhs might be following Hindu practices but Sikhi itself can't be destroyed unless Guru Saheb himself wishes to destroy it. (Refer to Guru Saheb's Fateh as previously mentioned.) So thank you for your illuminating thread but perhaps it would be good if you also considered some solutions to the problems you mention instead of just accepting the fact that we are all 'doomed'.

In fact gurbani is not politically correct at all and I see to your face shabads - Guru nanak says "ravan mar kya vada bhaya - sab upma teri jagjeevna "

Could you please explain how this tuk of Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj, the King of the three Sikhs mentioned in your username, renders Gurbani as politically incorrect?

I pity the campaigns to restore pride in turban and stopping youth from becoming apostate when we fail to educate our youth about even the very basics.

If those campaigns were not in existence you would probably be pitying us too. Perhaps you could help to start a new one educating the youth about the very basics.

the youth dont kno the basics because the way theyre taught arew completly wrong

teach them about the history first, and the amazing things guru je did

and the amazing shaheedi tha hapepned, and the sakhees

then once the history is taught, then teach them basics, and how to read guru granth sahib je

the let them move further and further on the questions of life and onto dasam granth, and let them keep on learning their whole lives

the entire problem today is keep ure hair, or ure not a sikh lol

these divisions are not only wrong, but also dont make anyone do anything, and we allow a history that is the richest in all of mankinds history to be forgotten

but it will never be forgotten, as long as we teach our people

we really understimate how amazing our history is, read any history

i dun care which one it is, the past india and the maahabharath, the battle of themopyales, the greeks, the romans, american history, the british, jesus, any sacrafice or history is nothing comapred to sikhi

they are amazing in their own right, but the amount of brillian things in sikhi from the love and message of guru nanak dev je, to the shaheedi and sacrafices by guru arjun dev je and guru tegh bahadur je, from the insane way singhs were tortured, to the way guru hrargobind sahib and guru gobind singh je fought oprresion in amazing ways being outnumbered all the time with less weapons yet still winning and holding their own, hoow even til recent days sikhs have fought amazingly outnumbering odds and fought with amazing bravery such as batle of saraghari or 84, where even after COUNTLESS attacks by outsiders and the constant pressure to convert we have never folded and we only contunie to grow stronger, and the other countless things that are so beautful in sikhi

the way guru naanak dev je spread his message, the way guru granth sahib je is wrritten

no one can deny the bueatful poetry and the amazingly deep messages and knwledge contained within, the knowledge just seems to be more and mroe as u learn mopre

it has no end

theres so much to sikhi, we just jump on on [people with things like keep ure hair, dont eat meat, when the TRU reality of our religion escapes the very people who preach it

first explain to them the amazing history of sikhi, and guru nanak dev je

our youth will never b able to forget who they are, y wud u want to forgeT

I find it sad really that some people who call themelves Sikhs and post on these forums are filled with such negativity and arrogance. Hinduism will never swallow Sikhism. Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji maharaj is here for eternity, it is the eternal truth and will forever educate and enlighten us manmukhs. There is nothing more powerful than Naam......Sikhi is here to stay.

In every walk of life there are those that deviate from the path. So yes there are many people who call themselves Sikhs but still partake in Hindu rituals. Instead of being negative and saying that we are all going to turn into Hindus why do you not look at any solutions?

Education........my parents were not the best educated. In terms of Sikhi they passed on what they could and many questions would be left unanswered. I like most of you have been blessed with a decent education in a Western School system. This ability to learn has allowed most of us to eduacte oursleves about our Gurus and what Sikhi means. My point here is that we are in a great position to educate those that do not fully undersatnd Sikhi and deviate from the truth.

As Lowest of the Low said, unless Guru Saheb so wishes will Sikhi ever be destroyed.

WJKK WJKF.

    • Umm, that's totally irrational, bro. There are plenty of prakash-dara Singhs in Punjab (less than we'd like, but still plenty). No one cares that you are sabat soorat. It isn't 1986. You can walk around in chola, kurta-pajama, or jeans. Whatever. If you want the look @dallysingh101 is referring to, just go into a cheap clothing shop (not a Western-style mall) and buy some shirts for 250 rupees or a track suit for 2000 rupees. You'll get the cheap stuff made in some sweatshop in Bombay.
    • The Mind is Jyot Saroop (Waheguru), but the mind is under the influence of five evils… Through Naam Simran( Rememberance), the mind will begin to detach from evil, and get back to its original form ( MANN TU JYOT SAROOP HEH)… Until the mind breaks free from the five evils, one will go through the cycle of paap and punn….which leads to Karma… Naam Simran destroys past karma, and prevents new karma coming into fruition… I did this, I did that… This non realisation of the Jyot Saroop gives rise to paap and Punn, which in turn gives birth to suffering and misery…
    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
